Jonny Drury and Lewis Cox look at West Brom's position with it comes to PSR and financial fair play.
Albion had a busy summer that saw the club invested £11m into the playing squad.
However, sales were anticipated and the club brought in more than £25m in player sales.
The summer business has significantly strengthened Albion's position when it comes to PSR.
On this week's episode of the Baggies Broadcast, Lewis and Jonny look at how the PSR position has changed and what it will look like moving forward for Albion.

00:00post-trans window how do you think we now stand regarding the dreaded psr johnny well very good
00:07timing because before you read that question after the first question uh by al i was gonna
00:12sort of butt in and just say look psr financial fair play hasn't been mentioned yet and then
00:18talk about elephant in the room i mean you know that we know about the three-year cycle
00:23that the rules of regulations of psr you can't lose 39 million pound over a three-year period
00:29well you know albin's latest two sets of accounts obviously accounts working behind
00:35revealed an 11 million loss and a 34 million pound loss you know the quick maths tells you that that's
00:42at least around if not north of north of the limit so let's remember and baggy zal said it right and
00:49you you said you agreed let's remember albin had a lot to do really and the club were confident of
00:55doing it and look a big part of it is why the sales that happened had to happen at least one
01:00of them certainly fellows felt like the fellows felt like the one that was always going to happen
01:06didn't he as the academy graduate as someone who would be booked in the accounts as as profit um
01:12to spend what they spent took a lot of smart shrewd work i think and you know it didn't just happen
01:21because shill and patel fancied throwing a few quid at it albin had to make it work by the laws by the
01:26rules not to get points deductions or you know sanctions or whatever so yeah yeah while we got
01:33look and i'm not saying i'm not justifying or defending anything here i'm not saying you know
01:39people ask why wasn't a few million quid spent on a right winger to come in who's natural blah blah blah
01:44um look albin could have worked alone loan for a right winger it's not it's not a financial thing
01:50but it's another reason i think to doff the cap isn't it and you remember the restraints that the
01:56club are remain under as they come away from the you know the lie sort of millstone um yeah yeah yeah
02:06it's it's it's it's still there and it's still something the club are grappling with and you feel
02:11like it still will be until the day that you know albin are able to return to the top flight and
02:17you know the owners sort of achieve the big target um but yeah i think on on the the question
02:24specifically from tonki you know it's it's very hard to be specific look we can all do some basic
02:29maths can't we what i think you said what's albin spend around 11 you say johnny in terms of what
02:35fees have been reported and obviously fees that have come in for the the two big ones are 20
02:39um do it more south obviously furlong caleb taylor you take it north of you would think around 25 or
02:45north of you start thinking about um uh salaries and stuff obviously they they to an extent would
02:53even out but some some bigger salaries coming down think of swift d and garner um
02:59so look i think all that's coming i'm not going to speculate with numbers but all that can be said is
03:04a much stronger a much stronger and on a much sounder footing now when it comes to their ffp
03:14psr and they're not sort of sailing the skirting close now and it's yeah i think it takes a lot to
03:22to do that to to improve the squad like you said to still rebuild while losing key players and stay
03:30stay you know stay the right side not just stay the right side of psr but really improve your psr position
03:35yeah they have significantly improved but i think another point school of thought as well and there's
03:38another question which would be on a separate issue but psr is contentious psr is contentious in
03:44the premier league i think it's 105 million over three years and the championship is 39 over three years
03:49that a lot of people say it's out of date it's been in place for quite a long time those kind of
03:54figures um and it's never kind of risen with inflation or change with inflation this that and
03:58the other but because of the regulation even i think even though i think it's probably right to
04:02point out cause even though albin's position is kind of been strengthened and incoming windows they'll
04:06probably have to sell less and they might be able to spend a bit more because there will be within
04:09the limit psr in the championship for a club that either hasn't got the parachute payment money or isn't
04:16rex and we've got ridiculous commercial revenue which is why they can spend north of 30 million
04:21pound psr and dealing with it is going to be a continuous cycle you know tom yeah tom fellas
04:27isn't going to be the last sale in this no and it's in albin's model of and this answers another question
04:32which i will read out now because i've come kind of coming on to that point but um someone has said uh
04:37rowan stretch has said amazing trance window but um oh no sorry wrong wrong question um beauty baggy has
04:44said we seem to be doing some smart business in the market whereby we are getting players in like
04:48hegem and we can start for a profit who do you see in the recent incomes as it could be like well
04:53you've got the likes of hegebo you've got either price who somewhere down the line will be the next
04:58player who will aid albin's kind of psr position it will get easier down the line like we said they
05:04will probably be able to spend more in future windows while also maybe having to sell less yes they're
05:09not going to be they're not every summer they're not going to be having to sell 25 million pounds
05:13with the talent but because of the way that the rules are if you aren't one of those clubs coming
05:18down or like we said an anomaly like rexham it is going to be a content or birmingham it is going to
05:23be going to be a continuous kind of cycle it's really yeah important point made yeah i suppose that the
05:31one thing is at least albin won't be starting from that desperate sort of footing of you know the
05:39the most recent accounts of 34 million pound loss which you know we expected to be eye-watering was
05:45eye-watering the losses before were big as well so that that you know that's the the improved footing
05:50we're on but you're right while albin and any club remain in the champ um prized assets will be sort of
05:55eyed up poached uh as much as that's the natural order you know and and sort of survival of the fittest
06:02and all that the food chain but also for the the model the accounts
