00:00From the comfort of his home in Kuala Lumpur, 21-year-old Malaysian student Ayman Hariz
00:07Mohamed Adib watched as chaos unfolded in neighboring Indonesia. Led by students,
00:13workers and rights groups, protests since last week over police violence and state spending
00:18priorities spread around the world's third largest democracy after a police vehicle hit
00:23and killed a motorcycle taxi driver last week. I think that it's a mark that they have power
00:31as people because they work together and when things are harming the people, they step up and
00:37they do something about it. They're not afraid of doing something about it. The events that escalated
00:43since the death of the driver on August 28th inspired Ayman to do more. I first saw this
00:50particular initiative online where there were many Malaysians and also there were many calls
00:55from other people in Southeast Asia like Thailand, Singapore, telling us all to contribute to what's
01:02happening in Indonesia, contribute to the people and what they're doing by sending support through
01:09food. And so that really gave me this opportunity or it really showed me that there is a way for me
01:15to, you know, give to them and to help out. So that really made me feel like I should do this
01:21because I can do this.
01:22Screenshots and videos seen by Reuters show people from Malaysia, Singapore and multiple other countries
01:28turning to their online ride-sharing apps to carry out donations. The orders are tailored with messages
01:35telling the drivers to take the food home or give it out to other drivers and their families.
01:40This initiative was welcomed by motorcycle drivers such as 39-year-old Rizki Azhar whose income
01:47has been hampered by the ongoing unrest as some businesses, schools and offices choose to operate
01:53remotely. Ayman's donation order went to Rizki on Wednesday who said it was the first order
01:59he received that day.
02:35Ride-sharing platform Grab has seen increasing orders from users outside of Indonesia,
02:40particularly Southeast and East Asia, according to a company official.
Semoga beliau
03:10ditempatkan di sisi Allah SWT. Amin. Terima kasih sekali lagi untuk semua support system
