00:00I mean, do you think India is trying to send a message here to Washington?

00:05Well, two things here. I think one, the India-Russia relationship is not something that is new.

00:11I think it goes back much into our history for the last 60 years or so, at least for the last, since 1971.

00:20It's been a consistent support for India. And we have held that relationship, and we call it time-tested.

00:30At the same time, you know, we have been building up the India-U.S. relationship for the last 25 years,

00:37and we have managed to successfully carry on both relationships, not always consistently.

00:44I mean, there have been ups and downs, but I think it has been the strategic interest of both Russia and U.S.,

00:51as well as India, to keep all these equations going at the same time.

00:55Now, what has happened is, because of Mr. Trump's actions and statements by, not only by the president,

01:05but people around him, that the trust factor in the U.S.-India-U.S. relationship has been severely damaged.

01:13And obviously, it's not that we are now suddenly reaching out to Russia.

01:18But yes, there is an element of signaling here.

01:22There is an element of diplomatic theater here, that India has options.

01:28India has other relationships.

01:29We are not giving up on the U.S. relationship, but we are also reviving and strengthening the others.
