00:00So how much really, Jono, has U.S. tariffs really pushed this relationship and this meeting and normalization of ties?
00:10You know, how much has it pushed it forward?
00:12We know they're steep and we know that already New Delhi and Washington, the ties between both were already somewhat strained.
00:19I think the tariffs further strained that as well.
00:22Modi needs a reason in order to find a balance and he needs to find that somewhere else.
00:26And, of course, China is the obvious answer with the fact that it is so close.
00:31But it is so significant that the two parties would come together, given the fact that there's a years-long debate going on about the border that has for many times,
00:41as you said, India is part of the Quad, so the tariffs undercut U.S. leverage, which is, I think, an important part of this as well.
00:47Rebuilding these ties with China is so important and this is a way to hedge probably bets for the future as well.
00:52And this protects India. As Dr. Ali said, it will be a super economy.
00:57It's just a matter of time.
00:58So this pressure that we're seeing now has nudged India towards easing, Trump's pressure with the tariffs has nudged India towards easing the relations with Beijing.
01:06And I think now that this dialogue has opened, we will see bigger and better things as well.
01:11And as you mentioned, when Xi Jinping is making his way to there after seven years, that is significant.
01:17That is really significant.
01:18And I think what we'll see with the thawing of relations in the next couple of weeks and couple of months, we'll see developments forward,
01:25whereby the reliance in the U.S. is far less than it currently is.
01:29And I think both of those economies require that at the moment in order to be able to somewhat counteract the huge tariffs that have been put in place.
