00:01This is Project Runway.
00:03Let's go.
00:04Hell yes, I'm the best.
00:05You're either in or you're out.
00:07I'm in, they're out.
00:09Who would be caught dead in his clothes?
00:11Fashion is my life.
00:12Who will be the next big fashion designer?
00:14That's me.
00:15Bottom line, I'm the best.
00:17I will own the runway.
00:19For these 15 designers, Project Runway is a chance of a lifetime.
00:30My name is Rami Cashew.
00:32I was born in the city of Jerusalem and I have my own studio in Los Angeles.
00:38I worked with Jessica Alba and she awarded the Video Music Awards, which still gets pressed today.
00:44I think that Project Runway can introduce my work to a larger audience.
00:49Hi, Chris.
00:50Nice to meet you.
00:51How are you?
00:52Nice to meet you.
00:53Welcome.
00:54Well, thanks.
00:55My name is Chris March.
00:57I've worked as a costume designer for almost 20 years.
01:01I am the go-to person in New York City for the larger-than-life costume.
01:05You never know what that phone call is going to be.
01:08Like, can you make us outfits out of solid ingredients?
01:12Well, sure.
01:14And I have.
01:18Chris.
01:19Hi.
01:20Nice to meet you.
01:21My name is Christian Siriano and I'm 21 years old.
01:25I was accepted into a university in London where I was able to work with huge, amazing designers.
01:32Alexander McQueen, Vivian Westwood.
01:34I'm kind of fierce and I'm kind of a celebrity in my own head.
01:39These are beds.
01:40And I sleep on the floor at home, so I guess that's good.
01:43Thank you, too.
01:44I'd rather buy clothes than buy a bed.
01:46My name is Carmen A. Webber.
01:52I used to model and I've been very fortunate that I have modeled for so long because people could be fantastic designers, but if you haven't modeled, you don't know the first thing.
02:01And I'm really excited that I can bring that to the plate in anything that I do in fashion.
02:07Love the outfit.
02:08Little cool-out action going on.
02:10That's hot.
02:11My name is Jillian Lewis and I have been working as an illustrator and a designer for Ralph Lauren.
02:16It is a wonderful learning experience, but it's not my dream to be contributing to someone else's vision.
02:24I am here to get to the final three and I am not going home.
02:31I love that we got here first.
02:33Me, too.
02:34All right, I'm going to start unpacking my bathroom stuff, too.
02:38Okay, cool, cool.
02:39Because I don't want those girls taking up my space.
02:41Hello.
02:42Hi.
02:43What's your name?
02:46Kit.
02:47Kit.
02:48And your name?
02:49Jillian.
02:50Hi.
02:51Me, too.
02:52Yeah, we're just kind of like camping out domain, girl.
02:57I just designed a jean collection, K-Jeans by Kevin Christiana.
03:00It was on the cover of Victoria's Secret, but I didn't want to do the jean thing anymore.
03:04I wanted to get back to tailoring and collection-oriented design.
03:07I just, I like style.
03:08And there's actually a lot more straight designers out there now than there was back in the day.
03:13I had to bring that up because I'm, you know, such a tough guy.
03:17I'm Jack.
03:18Good luck.
03:19You, too, man.
03:20We'll probably hate each other by the end of the show.
03:23I don't know.
03:24Hello.
03:25Hi.
03:26I'm Steve.
03:27Kevin, nice to meet you.
03:28Nice to meet you.
03:29I work at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.
03:32I end up sewing a lot for various exhibits.
03:36I always had an interest in art in one way or another.
03:39I also like to draw quite a bit from life whenever possible.
03:43Damn, I wish I could remember this guy's phone number.
03:47You auditioned last season?
03:49Yeah.
03:50Yeah.
03:51That was like number 16 out of 15.
03:53So I thought, what the hell, we'll give it another run this year.
03:57Yeah.
03:58My name is Alisa Jimenez.
04:05I'm an accidental fashion designer.
04:08I make marionettes that are three inches to 30 feet high.
04:11I actually started being involved in fashion when I started making costumes in order to perform with the marionettes.
04:18So it's just another discipline and an art lifestyle that I already do.
04:23I actually totally envision, like, doing all my yoga in a space about that big.
04:27I've been practicing at home.
04:30Stephen.
04:31Marion.
04:32Nice to meet you.
04:33Kevin.
04:34Nice to meet you.
04:35Hey, how are you?
04:36Hi.
04:37Hi.
04:38You guys are my roommates, I guess?
04:39Yes.
04:40Yes.
04:41Hello.
04:42Hi.
04:43Hi, Kit.
04:44Sweet Pea.
04:45The name Sweet Pea came from the period of my life when I was in an all-girl motorcycle club.
04:52Two years ago, I started a business.
04:54It kind of took off.
04:55And I'm currently actually out of money for my business.
04:58So I definitely see Project Runway as a make it or break it opportunity.
05:03This is Sweet Pea.
05:04That's you.
05:05That looks like you.
05:06And this is Mean Pea.
05:07Hopefully he will hold him.
05:08We heard.
05:09What does it say?
05:10Oh, there's a letter.
05:11Welcome to Diners.
05:12We hope you enjoy the new Gotham apartment.
05:13Please meet us at Bryan Park.
05:14Heidi and Tim.
05:15Yay.
05:16We're already on our way to Bryan Park.
05:20I'm Simone LeBlanc.
05:41I have an honest vision that comes from the heart and a vision that I believe in and that
05:47is unique.
05:48I felt a great connection walking into Bryan Park.
05:51This is where Fashion Week happens and all of the creativity and the excitement and careers
05:56are made.
05:57And it was really great to be there.
05:58And I know I'll be there again.
06:00Cheers to the adventure.
06:09My name is Marion Lee.
06:11I own a flower shop in Dallas, Texas.
06:13And I design clothes out of my flower shop now.
06:16I hope that Project Runway will be a catalyst to get me back into fashion much more than what
06:23I'm doing right now.
06:24Leading after this whole experience has been like anxiety one minute and then you're excited
06:30the next minute.
06:31I've spent a lot of my career really working for other designers.
06:35I think it's a great opportunity for me to finally show my own individual creative vision.
06:41My name is Victoria Hong.
06:44I was born in Korea.
06:45I moved to the United States when I was three.
06:48I've always been very competitive by nature.
06:51I've always been an overachiever.
06:53It's my birthday.
06:54Happy birthday.
06:55Happy birthday.
06:56Gemini's.
06:57Yeah.
06:58Kit Pistol is kind of like my Mark Twain.
07:01It's an alias.
07:02My ultimate goal in fashion is to have my own line.
07:06I believe that the clothing that you wear represents who you are and life is too short
07:12to have on a bad outfit.
07:13I can't believe this.
07:15It's Project Runway and I'm on it.
07:17It's crazy.
07:18I came from a family of 14.
07:21We lived in a two bedroom house.
07:23We were poor.
07:24I wanted to come to New York and be a dancer and I landed into the fashion industry.
07:29One thing led to another and I launched my own lingerie line.
07:33It's really a deep thing for me.
07:35This whole experience, it's not just a game.
07:39It's my life.
07:42It's like I'm scared and am I going to be good enough for this competition?
07:47Hello everyone.
07:48Welcome.
07:49Can I please have all of you gather around?
07:50All of a sudden Heidi Klum shows up looking fabulous along with Tim Gunn.
08:03Welcome to Bryan Park, home to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
08:07At the end of the competition, three of you will earn the right to show your collections
08:12here.
08:13Next to me is Tim Gunn.
08:14Thank you Heidi.
08:15He's the Chief Creative Officer of Liz Claiborne Inc.
08:19And he's going to be your mentor while you're here.
08:22Welcome everyone.
08:25The 15 of you have been selected from a huge and extremely talented pool of designers from
08:31across the country.
08:32So congratulations.
08:34Each season on Project Runway, we raise the bar.
08:37Last year's designers were the strongest yet, but I have to tell you I'm confident that
08:44you are the strongest group ever.
08:48Good luck.
08:49Are you settled into your new apartments at New Gotham?
08:52Gotham City's luxury apartment building?
08:54Yes.
08:55It's pretty nice, no?
08:56Sure.
08:57Have you all enjoyed your champagne?
08:58Yeah.
08:59Because the party is over.
09:02Do you want to hear about your first challenge?
09:06Yes.
09:07Here, please.
09:08Tim?
09:09In past seasons of Project Runway, the first challenge has been to create an outfit using
09:14unconventional materials such as groceries, home furnishings.
09:19But we're not going to do that this time.
09:22If you look across the lawn, there are three tents.
09:25You must use these tents as a raw material to create an outfit that expresses who you are
09:31as a designer.
09:34The tents looked like really, really cheap plastic fabric.
09:38And I was like, oh God, I don't want to make something out of this cheap white crap.
09:42Don't despair.
09:43Those tents are constructed out of $50,000 worth of premium textiles donated by Mood Fabrics.
09:51I was so stoked because to be able to use really fine fabrics and make anything I wanted
09:57to make is really great.
10:00When Heidi says go, you'll have 10 minutes to grab fabric from the tents.
10:05Then we'll head back to Parsons where you'll have until 1 a.m. to construct your designs.
10:11I love that you took your shoes off.
10:14Ready?
10:17Go!
10:20Happy birthday.
10:21Woo, thank you.
10:25I haul ass.
10:26I run like a Mexican running to the board.
10:32I can see in the middle of the tent, there's this amazing plaid fabric.
10:36I know I want it.
10:38I totally like beeline for the plaid that I saw in the middle.
10:42I wasn't fast enough because Kevin beat me to the fabric.
10:47I don't know.
10:48I ran the slowest and everybody else was going in this frenzy like crazy sharks.
10:59It was pretty crazy.
11:00It was chaotic.
11:01I feel like you have, you know, five seconds to grab all the fabrics and you feel like you
11:05need more just in case.
11:08I started pulling really anything I could get my hands on that was visually stunning to
11:13me because I just didn't want to run out.
11:16Of course, I got there last.
11:19But the funny thing was exactly what I wanted just happened to be hanging there and nobody
11:25else chose it.
11:26Oh, my God.
11:27You have five minutes.
11:29I was a whore.
11:32I just grabbed a little fabrics.
11:35I ended up taking some silk chiffon and I decided that I would imbue it with a natural element
11:43and use grass stain as a staining method.
11:46With my own work, I oftentimes use teas and oils and herbs to feed the fabrics.
11:53Elisa might be a little off her block, but I'm kind of curious to see what all comes of it.
12:00Everybody, time's up.
12:04We're headed over to Parsons.
12:06Okay?
12:07So follow me.
12:08I was pretty freaked out because we have so much work ahead of us.
12:13Look what stays behind.
12:15Bigfoot.
12:16Coming up on Project Runway.
12:19Looks like you have a lot of finishing to do.
12:21I do.
12:22You're in the dress form?
12:24Yeah.
12:25It's very spiritual the way you do it.
12:27She's a little strange.
12:34You're in the dress form.
12:37Walking into the design room and seeing the mannequin, it was so surreal and exciting and fabulous.
12:42I loved it.
12:43For this challenge, we needed to show what our point of view was and what a great first challenge.
12:49It was like $50,000 worth of fabrics from Mood.
12:52Basically, you get a chance to prove yourself right off the bat.
12:55I'm serious.
12:56This is who I am.
12:57This is what I'm doing.
12:58Hi, everybody.
13:01Remember Heidi's words.
13:03This challenge is about showing who you are as a designer.
13:07You have until 1 a.m. tonight to complete your design.
13:11So, in our Project Runway tradition, make it work.
13:16All right.
13:18I'll see you later.
13:21I definitely like the blue.
13:23The blue's really fresh.
13:24Yeah, no, I think the blue is the charm with this print.
13:27It's pretty, so.
13:28The challenge is, who are you?
13:31I mean, that's like a philosophical question.
13:33Designers try to hash out through the entirety of their careers.
13:39This is so overwhelming.
13:40It's like a smorgasbord.
13:42Ricky, did you finally pick what you're going to use?
13:46I really didn't need any of it.
13:48I decided to do a baby doll dress, but I wanted to give the impression of lingerie because it is my background.
13:55All right, all right, all right.
13:57Oh, my God.
13:58I was a cheerleader when I was in high school.
13:59You were.
14:00I was such a queen.
14:01I'm doing pieces that have a romantic, historical sensibility to them.
14:07The fabrics are a great mix of kind of the old and the new.
14:12I love to drape.
14:14I love to mix something that is feminine with something that is edgy.
14:19Really, I want to grab all of the elements that are my signature pieces and create this dress that perfectly represents me for today.
14:26Does anyone know what time it is?
14:32It's not even 2.
14:35I have a tendency to be more toward the edge of avant-garde, so I wanted to create a mythical gown.
14:44So I decided to create a cascade almost like water or like magic falling out of the back.
14:51Are you throwing that like on your body?
14:53Yeah.
14:54You're the dress form?
14:56Yeah.
14:57I think we were all taking a look at what she was doing because it's so different than everyone else.
15:03You sew it right onto a person?
15:05Yeah.
15:06It's very spiritual the way you do it.
15:07It's shocking.
15:08Wow.
15:09Elisa, she reminds me of a rain goddess woman.
15:15She's like all spiritual and in the Himalayan mountains.
15:20She's a little strange.
15:22Oh my gosh.
15:23At first I felt like the time was okay and then what happens is the time just starts to slip away from me.
15:33Let's see what this is going to become.
15:36I kind of have this tendency to grab at these like really bright exciting colors but in the end it has to be something of elegance and something that's sophisticated.
15:46I think at first my clothes come off as a little bit bizarre but I'm hoping the judges are going to recognize that I stand apart but I fear that they might be a little bit confused.
15:59I'd say that my style is probably more classic.
16:04I like to keep things very simple, very pared down.
16:08Does anybody have a pinking shoe with like a larger zigzag?
16:13Yeah, that'll do it.
16:15Jack, to save the day, you're the superhero and you look like one too.
16:20Yeah, did you see his abs?
16:22I'm in the room, people.
16:24Hi everybody.
16:31It seems very intense in here and fabric filled.
16:36So Rami, how are you?
16:38I'm good.
16:39Just wanted to freestyle today.
16:43It's stunning.
16:45It's stunning.
16:47Definitely I think Rami's competition but I do think he did a piece that so many other designers do.
16:54Carry on.
16:55I will.
16:56Good.
16:59Christian, how are you?
17:01Hi.
17:02This top, it's not symmetrical.
17:04You've been so meticulous about this matching and then as it fans out it doesn't at all.
17:10Right, that wasn't the point.
17:12I didn't even attempt it at all.
17:14I know.
17:15Like there was no...
17:16I can tell.
17:17Yeah, no but I mean that wasn't the...
17:18I can tell.
17:19But you can tell where I did mean to do it.
17:21I mean it could be fine.
17:22The judges could be fine with it.
17:23I just, I have an obligation to you to tell you how I'm feeling about it.
17:27Yeah.
17:28Okay.
17:29Do you want me to make a new jacket?
17:30No.
17:31I think my jacket was really accomplished and so far what I've done I feel is something that I love.
17:38Simone, talk to me.
17:39I'm really into the color contrast I'm using.
17:42I think it kind of takes it out of something that feels more antiquated and brings it to a more modern feeling.
17:47What about this though?
17:49This, oh yeah.
17:50Well I could actually leave it untacked right here and tack this in and it's going to have a side zip.
17:55It just looks like you have a lot of finishing to do.
17:57I do.
17:58The top of my dress hasn't worked out quite in the way that I thought it would and I lost my vision a little bit with it and that totally freaks me out.
18:04Okay, you just have a lot of work to do.
18:06I know but I'll get it done.
18:07Okay.
18:08I'm going to leave you alone.
18:09Okay.
18:10I'm going to leave you alone.
18:11Go, go to work.
18:12Go, go, go.
18:13Okay.
18:14So Elisa.
18:15Yes.
18:16Talk to me.
18:17Well I decided since it was an expression of self that I would start out first with something that I feel very akin to which was the body shape, the form.
18:26So from the front it's very clean, very clear, very lovely.
18:29But it's revealed in the back having it all rolled up and so that it would actually come untangled as she walks and she moves.
18:36Is that going to work?
18:37In the past when I've tried it it's kind of worked.
18:39This ending here to me seems really in opposition to the finish of this dress.
18:47You have to really be concerned with did I take this as far as I needed to.
18:54Hmm.
18:55All right.
18:57Designers, you have until 1am to finish up your designs and I will see you in the morning.
19:09Carry on.
19:11Make it work.
19:13When Tim came in and saw that I was actually done with my dress, he felt that I had a lot of work to do.
19:19I don't want to make compromises.
19:20I want to be able to do my idea the way I planned it.
19:22For this particular piece I think I'm going to be like done.
19:25I was like well what do you mean you're done?
19:27Like the edges aren't finished.
19:29She said no this is the way I want it to look it's done.
19:32She wants to sleep.
19:34That's exactly right.
19:35I'll be sleeping at some point.
19:37Oh if you finish do you get to go sleep?
19:39She was done and went and took a nice snooze which all of us would have loved but I don't think any of us had the time.
19:46We're all trying to finish without screwing things up too terribly bad.
19:53I'm so afraid what it's going to look like on here.
19:56S***.
20:00Make this work.
20:01How does my dress keep shrinking?
20:03I do love my design but the technical side is not good.
20:09Tim said a lot of the completion of it relied on what I could do with the technical part of it.
20:13It can't be good and it can't be easy all the time.
20:16This is part of the process.
20:18Uh oh.
20:19Looks like we got 10 minutes.
20:21Don't go into the fear box people.
20:23Don't go into the fear box.
20:25Whatever I'm done.
20:27Did you have a good sleep?
20:28You were conked out.
20:30Did you dream about Project Runway?
20:32No.
20:33I was out like a complete just like.
20:41Coming up on Project Runway.
20:42You have 15 minutes.
20:44I didn't have time to put in a zipper.
20:46I'm very anxious and I'm like let's just get this going.
20:54Waking up and knowing it was judgment day.
20:56There was a lot of anxiety floating around at that moment.
20:59And nobody wants to be the first person off the show.
21:03Everybody's pretty much done or almost done.
21:06The three of us are in a much better situation than some other people.
21:11At least we haven't finished things.
21:13Yes.
21:16When Tim Gunn said I'm really going to have to focus on my finishing.
21:24It is a real challenge for me to want to have to finish it.
21:27Like make it look clean.
21:29Okay let's go.
21:30Make it work.
21:31We left a little bit of a mess I think.
21:44What's your bag doing?
21:46Stay a while.
21:47There's absolutely like a high pressure situation this morning where it's like don't talk to me.
21:53Don't touch my stuff.
21:54Get out of my face.
21:55I need to get this done.
21:56I'm very nervous about the show today because I still have some finishing touches to add on my outfit.
22:04And I'm terrified about the fit on the model because we haven't seen the model.
22:12Designers can I ask you to gather around please?
22:14This is the day of our first runway show.
22:22So I want you to go in there and knock the judges socks off.
22:26In just a few moments I'm going to be sending in your models.
22:31You will have two hours to send them to the Tresemme hair salon and the L'Oreal Paris makeup room.
22:37And please think wisely about the bluefly.com accessories wall because it's phenomenal.
22:43All right.
22:44Okay.
22:46Love y'all.
22:47Mean it.
22:48Please move.
22:49It's freak out time here ladies and gentlemen.
22:50Who's Wendy?
22:51Hi Wendy.
22:52Katie.
22:53Hi Wendy.
22:54Nice to meet you.
22:55The models came in and we're trying to match up whose models is whose.
22:59And she came over to me and she said are you Chris?
23:02And I was like hallelujah.
23:04This girl is gorgeous.
23:06I just wanted to try these on you really quickly.
23:09The models were more or less assigned to us.
23:12We weren't able to pick and choose.
23:14I was really really happy with my model.
23:17What I need to do really quickly is hand measure you.
23:23Oh it's a little face.
23:24I love the color.
23:26Glad to hear that.
23:29Bravo.
23:30Feels London to me.
23:31I know.
23:32I love it.
23:33I love it.
23:34My model loves my outfit and I love my outfit as well.
23:38I really just like want to prove myself now.
23:40I'm like kind of fired up.
23:43I just kind of want it like a little edgier.
23:45Yeah it's a little too far.
23:52That's so cute.
23:59Designers and models.
24:00I just want you to know you have 15 minutes.
24:03There was quite a few of us working like right down to the last minute like do or die.
24:08It has to be done.
24:09You are going to get stitched into the dress.
24:13I didn't have time to put in a zipper so once I put the dress on Laura I actually just physically sew the side seam onto her.
24:24Oh I feel good in it.
24:26I'm very anxious and I'm like let's just get this going like let's just do this.
24:30This is what I've been working to.
24:32So let's do a test walk.
24:34Once I got my dress on my model the sculptural quality of the dress literally tangled about her.
24:42I intuitively felt like maybe I should chop off about five feet of it for the walk down the runway.
24:49But I didn't do it.
24:50I think everyone has to do this.
24:52You do? I don't.
24:53I think there's some hand sewed crap up in here.
24:58All right everybody.
25:00Are you ready for your big debut?
25:02Yeah.
25:04We're going right now.
25:05Okay.
25:06Follow me.
25:08Coming up on Project Runway.
25:11It's kind of boring.
25:13She is so dressed in the dark.
25:15Why is the construction so poor?
25:21Hello.
25:23Hi.
25:25Welcome to the runway.
25:27As you know in fashion one day you're in and the next day you're out.
25:31There are 15 of you now.
25:34Three will make it to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
25:37Where one of you will be named the winner of Project Runway.
25:40The winner will receive a spread in Elle Magazine.
25:43An opportunity to sell their line on bluefly.com.
25:47An all new 2008 Saturn Astra.
25:50And $100,000 to start their own line furnished by Tresemme Professional Hair Care.
25:56For your first challenge we asked you to create a garment that expresses who you are as a designer.
26:03And provided you with $50,000 of fabric to work with.
26:07Let's meet the judges.
26:08First we have top American designer Michael Kors.
26:13Hey guys.
26:14Next we have Nina Garcia, Fashion Director of Elle Magazine.
26:17Nice meeting you guys.
26:19And sitting across from you is our very special guest, acclaimed designer Monique Lullier.
26:23Hello everyone.
26:26We will score your designs as they come down the runway.
26:29The designer with the highest score will be named the winner.
26:32And one of you will be out.
26:36Let's start the show.
26:37When the judges all leave come down the runway, she got tangled in the dress.
26:54What they saw was the thing I had feared the most.
26:57I know who I am as a designer and I thought the outfit was just terrific.
27:08It had this high quality feel and an elegance that I was after.
27:18I definitely like fitted, well made, tailored clothing but I like putting my little signature edge to it.
27:25I feel like I could definitely be one of the main competitors, definitely.
27:36This is a happy dress.
27:38Christina smiled and did everything perfectly.
27:42I got a tear in my eye.
27:44My little baby.
27:50I did have a little bit of hesitation obviously about the technical aspects that weren't good.
27:55It went up to par.
27:56But I felt like the design transcended that.
28:09I think I did a good job.
28:11The color of it was really exciting.
28:13It was definitely one of the more dramatic pieces up there.
28:15I felt really accomplished.
28:23The jacket fit so good.
28:26I don't know how that happened.
28:27It was like perfect.
28:33I was thrilled with the total outcome.
28:36As a designer I felt I really got to where I wanted to go.
28:40I'm looking at the judges and I'm noticing that they were fixated on Ashley and her dress.
28:52I think that the look is very strong and best expresses my vision.
28:57After seeing everyone's I realized I should have made bolder choices with certain things.
29:06It was really about drama.
29:08It was really about wow.
29:09And mine was more subtle.
29:11I don't know if I'm making the statement that I want to make.
29:12I was confident that I designed something that I thought was really cute.
29:22Creating my vision within one dress and one challenge was fine for me.
29:31My piece was very exciting.
29:33It was sort of larger than life.
29:34When I saw it I was a lot happier than I thought I was going to be.
29:43Yeah it wasn't as glamorous as I wanted but there was a major sense of relief that I had actually pulled it off.
29:55There's no way I'm going to get voted off.
29:58It's just not going to happen.
29:59It can't happen.
30:00She looks so amazing.
30:05Marie rocked my dress.
30:10The dress was so representative of me I couldn't have been happier.
30:18We've scored your designs.
30:20Will the following designers please step forward.
30:25Chris March.
30:28Kevin.
30:31Sweet Pea.
30:34Jillian.
30:37Jack.
30:39Marion.
30:41Steve.
30:44Carmen.
30:46Kit.
30:50If I have called your name.
30:52Congratulations.
30:54Your scores were high enough to move you to the next round.
30:57You can leave the runway.
31:05The six remaining designers have the highest and the lowest scores.
31:14One of you will be named the winner.
31:16And one of you will be out.
31:19Let's bring out your models.
31:20I would like to start with Christian.
31:35I wanted to know what your whole thought was behind the outfit.
31:39Well I kind of was just going off of a sculptural European inspired tailored piece.
31:41I think it shows that I'm an innovative designer.
31:42I think volume is in and I like how you incorporated that in the sleeves.
31:44And I love the detail in the skirt.
31:45The black stripe.
31:46How it's continuous throughout the outfit.
31:47It's nice to see the back.
31:48It's quirky tailored.
31:49It's not just another dress.
31:50It's polished.
31:51I think you thought about the whole look.
31:53Thank you very much.
31:54I didn't find your fabrics very interesting.
31:55But I do think you did a fantastic silhouette.
31:56A fantastic design.
31:59It kind of grows on me.
32:00Good.
32:01It's fine.
32:02Simone?
32:03What is it that you want to express with this dress, Simone?
32:04I wanted to express the feeling of a modern dress.
32:05It's not just another dress.
32:06It's not just another dress.
32:07It's polished.
32:08I think you thought about the whole look.
32:09Thank you very much.
32:10I didn't find your fabrics very interesting.
32:11But I do think you did a fantastic silhouette.
32:14A fantastic design.
32:17It kind of grows on me.
32:19Good.
32:20It's fine.
32:23Simone?
32:25What is it that you want to express with this dress, Simone?
32:28I wanted to express the feeling of a modern romantic.
32:31Kind of give the emotion and the feeling of antique textiles,
32:34but do it in a modern way.
32:36Can I see her with the jacket off?
32:43And can she turn around?
32:46Yeah.
32:47I wasn't too impressed with the construction of this dress, Simone.
32:51Why is the construction so poor?
32:53I had a time issue.
32:55So, I do understand what you're saying with that.
32:58Can you put the jacket back on?
32:59I think that those two things worn together is so dressed in the dark.
33:04Like, she just, like, grabbed some random jacket and put it with some random dress.
33:08I kept waiting for that the wow factor, and I was very bored, really.
33:12Okay.
33:17Rami?
33:18Monique, how do you like his dress?
33:21I thought this dress was actually executed beautifully.
33:23I think it's very chic.
33:25I love your color selection.
33:27What is this fabric that you...
33:28Silk Georgette.
33:29Just wanted to introduce something that is new and modern, romantic, and this is something that obviously is a signature of mine, so...
33:37It is, um, sophisticated and it's chic.
33:40The one thing I will tell you is this, though.
33:44The flower.
33:45The flower, to me, is a little M-O-B, a little mother of the bride.
33:50Like, we just added that final touch.
33:53Um, but it's chic.
33:55It's very chic.
33:56Thanks.
33:57Rikki?
33:58Well, I want to hear a little bit about you as a designer, Rikki.
34:02For my whole history, I've done lingerie, so I did a baby doll.
34:08I think it's sweet, but you opted for a very safe silhouette.
34:14At the end of the day, it's a baby doll dress, and it's kind of boring.
34:18It just leaves me hanging with, well, what else is there? You know, like, it's, it's too safe.
34:24It has to be memorable.
34:25Memorable?
34:26Yeah.
34:27And, oh, my God, you've got to push it.
34:28This is just, it's a nice dress.
34:30And nice, my God, can you imagine the next day the New York Times says, it was nice.
34:38Victoria.
34:39I thought, um, it was very sweet, and then I, I thought the touch of the metallic brocade flower was a nice new twist to it.
34:47Do you have anything you want to add, Victoria?
34:50Um, I just wanted something fresh, and because it was just so much black, I thought, you know, it would be nice to add,
34:57you know, the floral sort of decoration.
35:00You better not try to hail a cab in that dress.
35:02No.
35:03Really? You cannot lift your arms?
35:04You can't lift your arms.
35:05Well, I think you need to make sacrifices for fashion sometimes.
35:07I know women were willing to bleed.
35:09If the dress is fabulous enough, you're willing to bleed.
35:14And last but not least, Elisa, tell us first about what your point of view was.
35:20I specifically went for something that was alive and vibrant as far as color.
35:25And I wanted something that would be sylph-like, you know, aerial, um, water, air, going for, like, a haiku of a cut,
35:32just this sort of, like, very simple but beautiful, like,
35:36and then this cascade of, like, coming out the back.
35:40I'm confused.
35:41Can you turn around?
35:42It is so heavy, that, that train, that it's dragging the fabric down.
35:49I mean, it's an awful effect here.
35:52She tripped on the runway.
35:54That enough is a problem.
35:57Michael.
35:58You had me at hello, because I think the color's pretty.
36:02Um, I think the sleeve is pretty.
36:04And then all of a sudden it looks like you took all the scraps that were left and glued it onto the dress.
36:10I think you didn't know where to stop.
36:12There was an, uh, an intuition which now confirms that I should always listen to my intuition.
36:15It was to take the scissors and chop it all off at the bottom.
36:18Every designer should listen to their intuition.
36:21We've heard what you had to say.
36:24We're gonna have a little chat.
36:25And then I'm gonna call you back.
36:28You can leave the runway.
36:40Okay, who should we start with?
36:42Who's gonna win this challenge?
36:44I'm kind of on the fence.
36:46What do we think about Victoria?
36:48I thought it was a pretty balance of a safe silhouette.
36:52And then the flower was another nice touch.
36:55And it had a little flirtiness to it, which was nice.
36:57The charm, yeah.
37:00Christian, it grew on me.
37:02I thought it was innovative.
37:04Yeah, and I also loved all his, you know, intricate detailing.
37:07You know, the pleating, the tucking, the twisting.
37:10So edgy and well-made.
37:11And the back looked fantastic.
37:13Yeah, the back was very cool.
37:16It's Rami.
37:17He really knew how to work with that fabric.
37:19Yeah.
37:20You know, that whole look and how he draped it so well, so I think he really knows his craft.
37:23I got a very good sense of what kind of designer he is.
37:26Mm-hmm.
37:27I'm eager to see what he does next time.
37:32Okay, we've done the good ones.
37:33Now let's go to the bad ones.
37:35How about Simone?
37:36Boring, poorly made.
37:38No creativity.
37:39No creativity.
37:40No wow.
37:41I do have to say, with Simone, I did like the color combination.
37:44But, I don't know, I mean, like when the jacket came off, you're like, oh my God, the dress is...
37:50Put it back on.
37:51Put it back on, exactly.
37:52What was that?
37:53She couldn't deliver.
37:57Elisa, she cut it all in one seam.
37:59Which is not easy.
38:00Which is not easy.
38:01But then I thought she went way too far with the train, and I don't know anyone in my right mind who would wear that dress the way it is.
38:08Her model looked like she was pooing fabric.
38:11Train wreck.
38:14Yeah, it was definitely a train wreck.
38:20Ricky.
38:21Ricky.
38:22Well, a baby doll dress, well made.
38:23Yes.
38:24He does know how to sew.
38:25But, you know what?
38:26You're a lingerie designer.
38:27You know how to make foundations.
38:28He could have done something fierce.
38:29He could have done amazing something.
38:30And that's what you gave me?
38:31It's not good enough.
38:32No, it's not.
38:36Okay, we've made our decision.
38:37Absolutely.
38:38Yeah?
38:39Ready?
38:40Let's bring them back out.
38:50One of you will be named the winner.
38:54And one of you will be out.
38:55Victoria.
38:56You're in.
38:57You can leave the runway.
39:05Yes.
39:06Yes.
39:07Yes.
39:08Yes.
39:09Yes.
39:10Yes.
39:11Yes.
39:12And now for the winner of this challenge.
39:15Congratulations.
39:16Rami.
39:17You are the winner of this challenge.
39:18You will have immunity for the next challenge and cannot be eliminated.
39:21Wonderful.
39:22Wonderful.
39:23You can leave the runway.
39:26To be the first winner was amazing.
39:27I think that I set the bar for this competition.
39:28I've gotten their attention and hopefully they will see more positive things from me.
39:29Rami.
39:32I'm immune.
39:33I'm immune.
39:34Christian.
39:35You're in.
39:36Christian.
39:37You're in.
39:38You can leave the challenge.
39:39You will have immunity for the next challenge.
39:40You will have immunity for the next challenge and cannot be eliminated.
39:41Wonderful.
39:42You can leave the runway.
39:44To be the first winner was amazing.
39:50I think that I set the bar for this competition.
39:53I've gotten their attention and hopefully they will see more positive things from me.
39:58I'm immune.
39:59Christian.
40:00You're in.
40:01You can leave the runway.
40:03Ricky.
40:04You're in.
40:05You can leave the runway.
40:07Ricky.
40:08You're in.
40:09You can leave the runway.
40:10I care.
40:11I care.
40:24I care.
40:25You're in.
40:26You can leave the runway.
40:28Okay.
40:29Simone.
40:31Elisa.
40:32One of you.
40:33Will be out.
40:36Simone.
40:39You look at no wow factor.
40:42And on top of that, it was very poorly constructed.
40:47Elisa, creativity is great,
40:51but you do need to trust your instincts and edit.
40:55Your look was way too much.
41:03Come on.
41:06You're out.
41:10Elisa, that means you're in.
41:11You can leave the runway.
41:14Sure.
41:22Thank you for the opportunity.
41:24Auf Wiedersehen.
41:26Auf Wiedersehen.
41:32I didn't expect to be the first one to go, honestly.
41:35I did have something to say,
41:36and I feel like I did accomplish a beautiful garment,
41:39even though it wasn't sewn in the way that I wanted it.
41:43Hi, everybody.
41:44Hi, Tim.
41:45Simone.
41:46We're going to miss you.
41:47Yes, I know.
41:47I'm going to miss you guys, too.
41:49Someone has to go first.
41:51Someone does.
41:52So you have to go upstairs now and clean up your space, okay?
41:55Okay, thank you.
41:56I truly feel like I had a chance to be part of the final three.
42:00But I feel like if I want to show, you know, in the tent someday,
42:03I can still make that happen on my own
42:05and continue on with the career that I'm building.
42:08This season on Project Runway.
42:14Are you guys ready for your next challenge?
42:16I'm going to pee in my pants.
42:18I was so shocked.
42:20I have a special guest.
42:24Whoa, man.
42:25This season is phenomenal.
42:27I don't think I just know that I'm way better than them.
42:30People will get bitchy.
42:31I know I will.
42:32Do I hear another word coming out of your mouth?
42:34I didn't think so.
42:36Sometimes it's better not to fight about it and to go with it.
42:39You know, I don't believe that.
42:40Her way is the only way and that's it.
42:42Why are you suddenly, like, believing that?
42:44We agreed to disagree on that one.
42:45How is that?
42:46She sees it one way and I see it another.
42:48Jack and I just had a discussion
42:50and I just want Jack to share it with him.
42:52Whoa.
42:55Oh, my God.
42:57I don't know what to think, honestly.
43:00I think you turned her into a street walker.
43:02Who would wear that in the real world?
43:04It looks like she's going to a funeral.
43:06The judges are a whole nother story.
43:08We have completely different concepts.
43:10I can't help but to say what I think.
43:12I felt very micromanaged.
43:14Please get off my back.
43:15It's like you get on a roller coaster
43:17and there's nothing you do but hang on.
