At a press briefing, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) was asked when the "Deportation Depot" will be operational.
Transcript
00:00And I think that's the way it should be.
00:02Yes.
00:04When is Deportation Depot expected to be operational?
00:08We will, it is momentarily.
00:13We will have an announcement on that maybe pretty soon.
00:17You know, we may, you'll find out pretty soon, I think.
00:20I mean, we said it would, the runway we said when I announced it is basically the timeline that we'll be on.
00:26Yes.
00:26Three Pulse protesters were arrested for using chalk on the crosswalk.
00:32We know the state is trying to make those crosswalks safer.
00:34However, they say their First Amendment rights were violated.
00:38What's your reaction to that?
00:40And also now it's up to the state attorney's office to file charges against these three.
00:44Well, you don't have a First Amendment right to come near someone else's property.
00:48You have a First Amendment right to paint your own property and knock yourself out if that's what you want to do.
00:54But when you have a state crosswalk or a state road, the law in the state of Florida is now that there's not markings or that's not going to be used for those purposes.
01:05FDOT issued a memo to explain that a couple months ago.
01:10Everybody's been on notice about that.
01:12But, you know, this is kind of an instructive civics lesson here.
01:18You do not have a right to take somebody else's property for your messaging purposes.
01:25Like, that's never been what the First Amendment has said.
01:28And, you know, we just got to be clear on that.
01:30So, you know, we just got to be clear on that.
