18 years of Levi Roots Reggae Reggae Jerk sauce
Transcript
00:00Hi, everyone. I'm celebrating 18 years since I was on Dragon's Den in 2007. It was February,
00:13end of February, that I appeared on the show with my sauce and my guitar and a dream that
00:26Caribbean food should be available in every store across the UK. And you have helped me to do that,
00:36guys. So I want to say thank you. As I celebrate 18 years, I want to thank you for being there with
00:43me throughout that journey. Even when I was in the den slaying the dragons, I felt that you were
00:49there with me saying, Go on, Levi. So I've got another thing that I'm actually celebrating here,
00:57and it's this. It's my book, The Levi Roots Reggae Reggae Cookbook. My God, it is my favorite book
01:07of all. It's out now in every store, your bookstores and online. You can get this. It's published by
01:18HarperCollins. And it's the favorite things that I've done, even though I've done many other books
01:24in the past. But this is the only one that carries the term reggae reggae. So it means a lot. All the
01:32recipes in there, guys, are classic Caribbean. The classic stuff like your Caribbean curry, your rice
01:40and peas, your jerk chicken, your oxtail, your curry goat. It's all there. Brown stew chicken.
01:48Every one of these classic ackee and saltfish, the national dish of Jamaica. It's there.
01:56My grandmother inspired all the recipes in here, as she did with the sauce as well.
02:02So guys, it just actually talks about recipes. This book actually tells you of my journey
02:10from being at the Notting Hill Carnival with my sauce, journeying throughout in the shires,
02:17before Dragon's Den, where I found my market and I found myself, that I can do something.
02:24So eventually, when I was on Dragon's Den, I was prepared because you were supporting me in those
02:32early days before I got on the show. So it's just fantastic that all that is here within one book.
02:41If you don't get it for yourself, then get it for a friend, because I'm sure they will be loving to
02:46be cooking Caribbean food. And it's all easy, because you know me guys, I don't do anything
02:53difficult. I stay away from that. It's all easy recipes. Anyone can do it. And it's just brilliant
03:01now that when I go into schools and I talk to kids about my recipes, they all are trying them,
03:08because it's so easy to do. So check out the book, The Levi Roots Reggae Reggae Cookbook,
03:14published by HarperCollins, available now in every store. It's just amazing. And as I sit back and
03:22relax and celebrate these 18 years since I was on the show, if you remember with Peter Jones,
03:28Richard Farley, Duncan Ballatine, Theopathitis and Deborah Needham, it was the most brilliant time of my
03:36life to walk into the Dragon's Den. A bit unconventional, because I did have a bloody guitar with me.
03:44Which had never been done on the show before. But I was me, you know, I was me, the Rastaman,
03:51the Caribbean, the musician, the cook. And I wanted to bring Caribbean food to the mainstream.
04:01And this book has certainly done that, guys, along with the sauce as well. There you go.
04:07So, guys, help me celebrate 18 years of Dragon's Den. And go out there and get this book for yourself
04:18or for your friends and start cooking some Levi Roots style-y. Thank you so much. See you amongst the pages.
04:27One Love.
