President Trump takes questions from reporters in the Oval Office.
Transcript
00:00But I just want to congratulate you. It's a very big deal.
00:02When you come out and when you leave the room, you'll see that we just, over the last few minutes, literally shot out a boat, a drug-carrying boat, a lot of drugs in that boat.
00:15And you'll be seeing that and you'll be reading about that.
00:18It just happened moments ago, and our great general, head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who's been so incredible, including what took place in Iran, knocking out potential nuclear power for a long time to come.
00:37I think within a month they would have had it if we didn't do what we did.
00:41But he gave us a little bit of a briefing, and you'll see.
00:46And there's more where that came from. We have a lot of drugs pouring into our country, coming in for a long time.
00:53And we just, these came out of Venezuela, and coming out very heavily from Venezuela.
00:58A lot of things are coming out of Venezuela.
00:59So we took it out, and you'll get to see that after this, after this meeting is over.
01:06Do you have any questions, please?
01:08Mr. President.
01:09Yeah, please.
01:09Thank you, Mr. President. Senator Comberville talked about the POS savings associated with his announcement.
01:15Can you talk about the strategic benefits by having Space Force Command headquartered in Huntsville?
01:23Well, it just works because we have so much else there.
01:26And having a central, you could call it a central command, but it really is a command station.
01:31Also, even locationally, where it is and when you think about flying distances,
01:37if you can save a half an hour as fast as some of these planes go and things go,
01:40and even the rockets go, if you can save by having the best location.
01:44So we went out, as you know, to experts.
01:47And we had four different groups of experts.
01:51They all said this was the best location.
01:54I also loved it from the standpoint, I know the people of Alabama, they are great people,
01:58work hard, and there's no games, and they're very proud of it.
02:01And I would say they fought harder for it than anybody else.
02:04Also, a lot of states, five states, really wanted it.
02:07But they wanted it more.
02:09And I kid you not when I say that these people, they spoke to me a lot.
02:15That's all they wanted to talk about.
02:17They didn't want to talk about the weather.
02:19They only wanted to talk about moving to this location, moving to Alabama, Huntsville in particular.
02:24So we're honored to do it.
02:26They really wanted it badly, and they got it.
02:28Peter?
02:28President Trump, something completely different, but about a big viral social media trend over the weekend.
02:34How did you find out over the weekend that you were dead?
02:39Did you see that?
02:40No.
02:40People didn't see you for a couple days.
02:421.3 million user engagements as of Saturday morning about your demise.
02:47Really?
02:47I didn't see that.
02:49You know, I have heard it's sort of crazy.
02:51But last week I did numerous news conferences, all successful.
02:55They went very well, like this is going very well.
02:58And then I didn't do any for two days, and they said there must be something wrong with him.
03:03Biden wouldn't do him for months.
03:05You wouldn't see him.
03:06And nobody ever said there was ever anything wrong with him, and we know he wasn't in the greatest of shape.
03:12No, I heard that.
03:12I get reports.
03:14Now, you knew I did an interview that lasted for about an hour and a half with somebody,
03:18and everybody saw that was on one of your competitors.
03:21I did numerous shows and also did a number of truths, long truths, and I think pretty poignant truths.
03:30No, I was very active over the weekend.
03:32They also knew I went out to visit some people at the club that I own pretty nearby on the Potomac River.
03:39And, no, I've been very active, actually, over the weekend.
03:42I didn't hear that one.
03:43That's pretty serious.
03:44Well, it's fake news.
03:46You know, it's just so fake.
03:48That's why the media has so little credibility.
03:53I knew they were saying, like, is he okay?
03:56How is he feeling?
03:57What's wrong?
03:58I said I just left.
03:59And it's also sort of a longer weekend.
04:02You know, it's Labor Day weekend.
04:03So I would say a lot of people know I was very active this Labor Day.
04:07I had heard that, but I didn't hear it to that extent.
04:09Go ahead, Peter.
04:10We know that this country has a huge problem with school shootings.
04:14You've said that you're open to sending the National Guard pretty much anywhere.
04:17Would you ever consider sending an armed National Guardsman to every school?
04:23Well, we have a big problem with school shooting, but we also have thousands and thousands of schools that run perfectly.
04:32You know, they talk about you can do things construction-wise, and that's really – I think nobody knows more about construction than me.
04:41You can build the construction doors.
04:43You can build what they call safety doors, where they lock on the outside, the inside, and every place else.
04:48Well, but if one of these lunatics happens to get through, then the police can't get in.
04:54Then they're looking for keys all over the place, and it takes –
04:57I mean, a lot of disadvantages to doing – you know, spending billions and billions of dollars
05:03and actually making it safer in some way for some of these lunatics that we're dealing with.
05:07But I don't think so.
05:11You know, I've thrown out the concept.
05:13We have great teachers that love our children.
05:15The parents love the children.
05:16Teachers love the children, too.
05:17And if you took a small percentage of those teachers that were in the military, that were distinguished in the military,
05:24that were in the National Guard, et cetera, et cetera, and you let them carry, that's something that a lot of people like.
05:31I sort of liked it.
05:32It'd have to be studied.
05:34But they're trained.
05:36They know about weapons.
05:39You can't do it with every teacher because most teachers don't know.
05:42And, you know, but I always thought that would be an alternative.
05:46But it just – we've had a lot of instances.
05:51Other countries have also.
05:52They have different kinds of problems than we have.
05:55But we do have – there's something going on.
05:58Something going on.
05:59And it's a bad thing.
06:01Yes, please.
06:02Have you spoken with President Putin in the past week?
06:05Have you spoken with President Putin in the past week?
06:06Yeah, I don't want to – I have learned things that will be very interesting, I think, in the next few days.
06:13You'll find out.
06:13Will there be any consequences if there isn't some type of announcement of a meeting with President Putin and President Zelensky?
06:20And what could those consequences be?
06:21We're going to see what happens.
06:22We're going to see what they do and what happens.
06:24I'm watching it very closely.
06:25Last week, they lost 7,000 – between the two countries, 7,313 soldiers, to be somewhat exact, for no reason whatsoever.
06:38And they're Russian and they're Ukrainian, but, you know, they're soldiers.
06:42I want to see it end.
06:43Yeah.
06:43Mr. President, have you decided you're definitely going to send National Guard troops to Chicago?
06:47I didn't say when, but the answer is, look, Chicago's very interesting, because I watched Pritzker get up and say about, we don't need help, we're safe.
06:57But two weeks ago, they had six people murdered, murdered, and they had 24 people hit by bullets.
07:07Last week, as you know, it was seven people, 24 people hit, and seven people died.
07:12And then, over the last two days, it was the – that was the crown jewel.
07:18They had, I guess, nine killed, nine or ten killed, and 50 hit with bullets.
07:24And you have this governor, GetUp, who's a terrible governor, probably – he and Gavin Newsom would be probably the two worst and most naive.
07:34They're naive.
07:35Either they're naive or they're very untruthful.
07:37And he'll say, we don't want any protection, we don't need – so in the last three weeks, he's lost almost 20 people killed.
07:47There's no place – there's no place in the world, including you can go to Afghanistan, you can go to places that you would think of.
07:55They don't even come close to this.
07:57Chicago is a hellhole right now.
08:00Baltimore is a hellhole right now.
08:03Parts of Los Angeles are terrible.
08:05If we didn't put out the fires – and I mean the other fires, the bullet fires – they didn't do a good job with – they should have had the water coming down, like I said.
08:13You know, we had to release the water.
08:15We had to go in and release the water to L.A.
08:17It's so badly run.
08:19But if we didn't get – if I didn't send the National Guard into Los Angeles, you wouldn't – I would be making an announcement today.
08:25I'd be talking about Huntsville, and I'd simultaneously be saying, by the way, the Olympics is not coming to Los Angeles.
08:32If we didn't do that, if we didn't do that – and even the sheriff, the top law enforcement person in Los Angeles said, we could not have handled it without them.
08:43So that's what he said.
08:45Well, we're going in.
08:48I didn't say when.
08:49We're going in.
08:50When you lose – look, I have an obligation.
08:52This isn't a political thing.
08:54I have an obligation.
08:56When we lose – when 20 people are killed over the last two and a half weeks, and 75 are shot with bullets.
09:04So let me tell you a little story about a place called D.C., District of Columbia, right here where we are.
09:11It's now a safe zone.
09:13We have no crime.
09:15We have – it's in such great shape.
09:17You can go and actually walk with your children, your wife, your husband.
09:21You can walk right down the middle of the street.
09:23You're not going to be shot, Peter.
09:25You're safe.
09:26Everyone likes you anyway.
09:27They probably wouldn't do it.
09:29But it's so dangerous.
09:31And there are people in this audience that have – you've suffered greatly.
09:35There are people in this audience that have been mugged and hurt badly, and they don't want to talk about it.
09:42Maybe you were very brave in talking about it.
09:44You made quite an impression on a lot of people.
09:46I appreciate it.
09:47But there were other people in this room that have been hurt very badly just walking down the street in D.C.
09:53Washington, D.C. is a safe zone right now.
09:56It's a safe city.
09:57The restaurants are open.
10:00They're booming.
10:01You can't get a restaurant.
10:02New restaurants are announcing that they're going to be open.
10:06This took place in 12 days.
10:07Now, it's 15 days.
10:08But three days ago, it became what's known as a safe zone.
10:12It's a safe city.
10:13And this city was really bad.
10:16Really, really bad.
10:17We took 1,600 people out, hardcore criminals that will not be coming back anytime soon.
10:24And we're very proud of it.
10:26And, you know, to have our nation's capital lose every week.
10:32You know, it was like years, many years where every single week somebody was killed for many, many, many consecutive weeks.
10:40This went on for years.
10:42And then we had last week it was announced that nobody was killed last week.
10:47And I made that announcement in front of a very distinguished leader of a country.
10:51And I'm saying proudly, ladies and gentlemen, nobody was killed in Washington, D.C. this week.
10:57He looked at me like, was that what's that all about?
11:02I say, yeah, we have a little bit of a crime problem.
11:04And we don't have a crime problem in Washington anymore.
11:07And the mayor has been very helpful.
11:08And the police commission has been very helpful.
11:11And it's been a great team.
11:13And I would love to have Governor Pritzker call me.
11:17I'd gain respect for him and say, we do have a problem.
11:20And we'd love you to send in the troops.
11:22Because, you know what, the people, they have to be protected.
11:26I saw today on one of your networks, not a friendly network, except really the opposite, I would say, very unfriendly network.
11:34And they interviewed about 12 people on this morning.
11:39Most of them were African-American, who were black.
11:43And they were saying, please, please, please let the president send in.
11:48These were people from Chicago.
11:50Please, we need help.
11:52We need help.
11:53We can't walk outside.
11:54We're petrified.
11:55If the governor of Illinois would call up, call me up.
11:59I would love to do it.
12:01Now, we're going to do it anyway.
12:03We have the right to do it because I have an obligation to protect this country.
12:07And that includes Baltimore.
12:09I saw where Governor Moore was asking me to take a walk down the street of Baltimore.
12:15Well, Baltimore is a very unsafe place.
12:17It's rated number four in the city.
12:19One of the worst, one of the most unsafe places anywhere in the world.
12:23But, you know, we took care.
12:25This was a beautiful thing that happened in Washington because we showed that it could be done.
12:29And this wasn't just sending big, strong guys.
12:32And they are big and they are strong.
12:33You know, we had a great decision from the Supreme Court that had to do with sort of talent.
12:40It had to do with you are put down based on merit.
12:47You can hire based on merit.
12:50So merit for a soldier or for a policeman is strong, physically fit, something, you know, having a certain ability.
12:58Not a person that is woke and got the job through woke, but wasn't strong enough to lift a gun out of the holster, et cetera, et cetera.
13:07Now, I looked at the police.
13:09As you know, last week I went over.
13:11We had a meeting with there had to be 300 people and they were all very impressive looking.
13:16And when the bad guys see them, they're not going to do a thing.
13:19And so I'm very proud of Washington.
13:21It serves as a template.
13:22And we're going to do it elsewhere.
13:25But Chicago is certainly going to be high.
13:27I would love to have him call.
13:30I would love the governor of Illinois.
13:32I'd be honored to take his call.
13:34All he has to do is say, sir, we need help.
13:37It's out of control.
13:38And everyone knows it is.
13:39He's not kidding anyone.
13:40I would love to have, I would say, Governor Moore call because I watched him over the weekend trying to explain that Baltimore, what they need is housing.
13:51No, they don't need housing.
13:52They need to get rid of the criminals.
13:54These are hardcore criminals.
13:56You know, we took many people off the streets of Washington, D.C.
14:01They're hardcore.
14:02They're not going to be good.
14:04In 10 years, in 20 years, in two years, they're going to be criminals.
14:07They're going to be, they were born to be criminals, frankly.
14:10They were born to be criminals.
14:12And they're tough and mean.
14:14And they'll cut your throat and they won't even think about it the next day.
14:18They won't even remember that they did it.
14:20And we're not going to have those people.
14:22Washington, D.C.
14:23Is now a safe zone.
14:25It's a safe place.
14:27And you can walk, Katie, you can walk right down the street with, by the way, one of the biggest human beings I've ever seen, which is her husband.
14:33He was, he was a football player for like 11 years in the NFL.
14:37He's a big person.
14:38But big doesn't mean anything when they have guns and when they have knives and everything else that they have.
14:43Right.
14:44But you can walk right down the street, even by yourself, and you're totally safe.
14:47Washington, D.C. is a great thing.
14:49Yes, ma'am.
14:50Mr. President, as you're calling on Democratic leaders across the country to work with you on crime, do you see your efforts here in D.C., including, for example, working with Mayor Bowser here as a model for bringing more bipartisanship in matters, not only with crime, but also issues that matter to everyday American people's lives?
15:07So Mayor Bowser's been great.
15:09She could have taken the thing all well.
15:11And then after I clean it up, they'll take credit for it.
15:14You know what they do is they take credit.
15:15Like, we cleaned up Los Angeles.
15:18We did a great job there.
15:19And it was overwhelming what was going on.
15:23And, again, the police chief made a statement that we could not have done, there's no way they could handle it.
15:29You saw what was happening out there.
15:30It was going to be a disaster.
15:31We stopped it cold.
15:33If we didn't do that, it would have been a very sad day.
15:37And, you know, remember, we have the Olympics.
15:39We have the World Cup.
15:40We have all these things coming.
15:41And we have 250, all of these things coming.
15:44But I watched Newsom get up and say he's doing great.
15:47He's not.
15:48We're the ones that did it.
15:48And that's okay.
15:49Whatever it takes.
15:50But the main thing is we.
15:51But he got up and said, we did it.
15:53Well, he didn't want us there.
15:56And he's going to need us again because it's starting to form again.
15:59I see it.
16:00It's starting to form again.
16:02You know, we have to maintain.
16:03It's like maintenance on an airplane.
16:04You can buy it, but you have to maintain it.
16:07And if you don't maintain it, a good plane becomes very unsafe very quickly.
16:12So it's an honor to do it.
16:15It's a lot of presidents wouldn't do what I'm doing.
16:17I don't need this heat.
16:19But when I watch television last night and I'm watching the news and I see that nine people
16:24were killed in Chicago and 54 were badly wounded with bullets, I say, that's not this country.
16:34We have to do something.
16:36And I do say this.
16:37I say this very much.
16:38I'm not speaking to anybody but them right now.
16:40I would love to receive calls from governors and mayors saying they need help.
16:45We'll help them.
16:46We have a lot of people.
16:46We have a great force.
16:47We have a great military force.
16:49You know, Pete will tell you that when I was running for office, when, and this was a big
16:55headline, I think, you know, probably got me a couple of votes, but you couldn't sign
17:00people in the military.
17:01Nobody wanted to join the military, the Army, Air Force, any of the Navy, Marines, Space Force,
17:09Coast Guard.
17:09We never forget Coast Guard because they've done such a great job.
17:12Never.
17:13But nobody wanted to join any of them.
17:15We were way below what we wanted.
17:18Every single one.
17:19The closest was the Marines, whatever that is.
17:22You'll explain that to me.
17:23But the closest was the Marines.
17:24But every service was way down, way down.
17:28And then I got elected.
17:29And our country is the hottest country anywhere in the world right now.
17:33Everybody's talking about the USA.
17:35They're talking about the job that we're doing.
17:37Everybody.
17:37We have the best economy.
17:38We have a very, very important decision being made by the Supreme Court because our country
17:44is the richest, the strongest, the most powerful.
17:48But if for some reason, some liberal court, I'm talking about the court that just ruled,
17:52where even an Obama judge voted in favor of us, which I gave him a compliment yesterday,
17:57as you know.
17:57I said that took great courage.
17:59But it's a liberal court.
18:01And it's going up to the Supreme Court, who I think have been incredible people.
18:07I think they've made very wise decisions.
18:09But the tariff question, because without the tariffs, this country is in serious, serious
18:16trouble.
18:17We've taken in almost $17 trillion of investment is coming in.
18:21Most of it has come in because of tariffs.
18:23And if for some reason somebody wanted to be politically correct, I actually think it's unpolitically
18:30correct.
18:31I think politically correct is to approve it because there's nothing so popular as what's
18:35happened to our country.
18:36Our country is doing so well.
18:38But we had a liberal court gave us a very shocking ruling.
18:43And that ruling is basically saying that the trillions of dollars that are pouring into
18:49our country, putting us in a position like no country is anywhere in the world, that they'd
18:54like to see us take it away.
18:57By the way, a lot of the people behind that lawsuit, that particular, are from foreign countries.
19:02I might add.
19:02There's a video that is circulating online now of the White House where a window is open
19:12to the residents upstairs and somebody is throwing a big bag out the window.
19:16Have you seen this?
19:17No, that's probably AI generated.
19:20So, actually, you can't open the windows.
19:23You know why?
19:24They're all heavily armored and bulletproof.
19:27So that's a fake video?
19:28Well, it's got to be because I know every window up there, the last place I'd be doing
19:33it is that because there's cameras all over the place, right, including yours.
19:37No, but every window, I've never seen a window that's, in fact, my wife was complaining about
19:42it the other day.
19:43She said, love to have a little fresh air come in, but you can't.
19:46They're bulletproof.
19:48And number one, they're sealed.
19:51And number two, each window weighs about 600 pounds.
19:54You have to be pretty strong to open them up.
19:55No, that has to be.
19:57Where was the window?
19:57Let me see.
19:58Maybe for the renovations?
20:08Which is the window?
20:09It looks like this is on the 15th Street side, I think.
20:13So, right here.
20:15Yeah, those windows are sealed.
20:17Those windows are all sealed.
20:19You can't open them.
20:23It's the kind of thing they do.
20:24And one of the problems we have with AI, it's both good and bad.
20:27If something happens really bad, just blame AI.
20:30But also, they create things, you know.
20:33It works both ways.
20:34If something happens that's really bad, maybe I'll have to just blame AI.
20:37But there's truth to it because I see so many phony things.
20:41I saw something as I was growing up from the time I was a baby till now.
20:46I said, who did that?
20:48It was AI-generated.
20:50So, it's a little bit scary, to be honest with you.
20:53But those windows are all very heavily sealed.
20:56Thank you, Mr. President.
20:57I want to follow up with what you were saying regarding that federal appellate court that
21:00ruled against you and your administration as it relates to your ability.
21:03Well, they ruled against our country, the court.
21:06And they ruled against us before.
21:07It's a very liberal court.
21:08You called it highly partisan in your social media.
21:10Well, it certainly is.
21:11It certainly is.
21:12And in fact, it was along ideological lines, seven to four.
21:14Well, except that we actually got one of the Obama judges that was appointed by President
21:20Obama voted in favor of the tariffs because he felt it was imperative for our country to
21:26thrive and survive even.
21:28And I gave him credit.
21:30And I said, you know what?
21:31That took a lot of courage for him to do it because you don't see that often.
21:34So, my question is, I imagine, I suspect you're going to appeal that all the way to the Supreme
21:39Court.
21:40Well, we already have, yeah.
21:41In fact, we're doing something else.
21:42We're going to be going to the Supreme Court, we think, tomorrow because we need an early
21:47decision.
21:47I mean, look, the financial fabric of our country, we're a rich, incredible country right now.
21:54And we're able to, you know, other countries use tariffs on us for years.
21:58And we never did.
22:00I did a lot during my first term, but then we had COVID and we had to focus on other
22:05things.
22:05You couldn't be tariffing Italy, Spain, France, as they were dying by the thousands and millions.
22:12But we did with China and China paid us billions and billions of dollars.
22:17And I started the process, but then I had to end it a little bit because of COVID.
22:20We focused on that.
22:22But no, it's a very important decision.
22:25And frankly, if they make the wrong decision, it would be a devastation for our country.
22:32We've taken in trillions of dollars.
22:35And by the way, all these countries signed agreements as an example.
22:39They said they're all happy.
22:40Everybody's happy.
22:41But some whack job put in a lawsuit.
22:45It went before a very liberal court.
22:48And the liberal court ruled, it was 11, they ruled 7 to 4, with one of the most liberal of
22:56them all voting in our favor because they're patriots.
22:58I think I give tremendous credit to that judge.
23:02And now it's going to the Supreme Court.
23:03Now, we're going to be asking for early admittance.
23:07We're going tomorrow.
23:08And we're going to ask for expedited and expedited ruling because, you know, when you look at the
23:14stock markets down today, the stock market's down because of that, because the stock market
23:18needs the tariffs.
23:19They want the tariffs.
23:20If you look at AI, all of those, you know, all of that money that's going to be invested,
23:26trillions and trillions of dollars, the biggest thing, bigger than the Internet, I suspect.
23:31It's the Internet plus three or four other things combined.
23:35We are leading very substantially with AI.
23:39We're leading because of tariffs.
23:41We're leading because of talent.
23:42And this is where they'd like to be.
23:43But without the tariffs, we wouldn't have a chance because we wouldn't be able to protect
23:47those investments of the companies coming in.
23:50So if you took away tariffs, we could end up being a third world country.
23:57That's how that's how big the rule.
23:59So we're asking for an expedited ruling.
24:01As a backstop to that president, you have a Republican controlled Congress.
24:07You control the House.
24:08You control the Senate.
24:09But we don't have 60 votes.
24:11We don't have 60 votes.
24:12I'd love to do that.
24:13Oh, if we had if we had 60 senators, if we got the 60 votes, we would get them.
24:17But we need 60 votes and we need, you know, a certain number in the House.
24:24We'd get I think we'd get I don't know.
24:26We have about five of them here.
24:27Would everybody agree with me on tariffs?
24:29Without tariffs, we're a different country.
24:31We have taken in so much money.
24:33And here's the thing.
24:35We signed a deal with Japan.
24:37They're paying us hundreds of billions of dollars.
24:40We signed a deal with South Korea.
24:41We signed a deal with the European Union.
24:44We signed a deal with Europe.
24:48And those countries are paying us $950 billion.
24:52And they're happy about it.
24:53They're OK.
24:54As one of them said, it's amazing that we got away with it so long.
24:57One of my friends, a leader of one of the countries, and they're fine with it.
25:03They all signed.
25:05If that ruling ever went against us, I guess we'd have to give back hundreds of billions.
25:12We would have to give trillions and trillions of dollars back to countries that have been
25:17ripping us off for the last 35 years.
25:20And I can't imagine it happening on a legal basis.
25:25They have no legal basis whatsoever.
25:27But on a common sense basis, it would destroy America.
25:30We talked about controlling the sky.
25:34On Sunday, the satellite signal of Ursula von der Leyen's plane was allowed.
25:39With Ursula?
25:40Well, she had an interesting event.
25:42She's a tremendous woman.
25:45And so what are you asking me about her?
25:47NATO is concerned about the NATO.
25:49NATO is concerned about the NATO.
25:51Well, nobody knows where it came from, but they did take away her ability to use a phone.
25:56You know?
25:57Sometimes that's a good thing.
26:00Sometimes that could happen to me.
26:01I'd be very happy.
26:02On tariffs, are you considering reducing the tariffs on India from 50%?
26:07What does that mean?
26:08Are you considering taking away some of the tariffs that you've imposed on India?
26:12No, we'll get along with India very well.
26:15But India has, you have to understand, for many years, it was a one-sided,
26:19relationship only now since I came along.
26:21And because of the power that we have with tariffs, India was charging us tremendous tariffs,
26:26about the highest in the world.
26:28They were about the highest in the world, number one.
26:30And we, therefore, weren't doing much business with India, but they were doing business with
26:35us because we weren't charging them.
26:36Foolishly, we weren't charging them.
26:39So they would send in massive, you know, everything they made, they'd send it in, pour it into our country.
26:45Therefore, it wouldn't be made here, you know, which is a negative.
26:47But we would not send in anything because they were charging us 100% tariffs.
26:53And, you know, I'll give you an example.
26:55Harley-Davidson.
26:56Harley-Davidson couldn't sell into India.
26:58There was a 200% tariff on a motorcycle.
27:01So what happens?
27:02Harley-Davidson went to India and built a motorcycle plant.
27:06And now they don't have to pay tariffs.
27:09Same thing as us.
27:10So what we're doing is literally thousands of companies are coming into the U.S., car companies,
27:17AI, but, you know, more traditionally, car companies.
27:20We have so many car company factories under construction or being designed right now.
27:26And they're coming from China.
27:28They're coming from Mexico, I must tell you.
27:30And they're coming from Canada.
27:31A lot of them coming from Canada.
27:33But they're coming into our country because they want to build here.
27:36And they want to build here for two reasons.
27:38Number one, they'd like to be here.
27:39And number two, the tariffs are protecting them.
27:42And number three, they want to avoid paying tariffs.
27:45When they build their cars here, they don't have any tariffs to pay.
27:49You know, when you build here, you don't have any tariffs.
27:51Mr. President, in light of the Minnesota shooting last week,
27:56the Department of Homeland Security is now awarding more than $100 million
27:59to hundreds of faith organizations across the country to help them ramp up security.
28:04Was there a vision for further protecting religious liberty across the country
28:08amid incidents of threats?
28:10So religious liberty is so important.
28:12And we're talking about every religion now.
28:15And we're doing things on that that nobody else has ever done.
28:19And we're going to be announcing we're going to be having a big announcement
28:21in about two weeks on that question.
28:23Yeah, please.
28:24On Space Command, sir, are you concerned that people may not be willing
28:28to relocate from Colorado to Alabama?
28:31No, I'm not worried.
28:32It will get somebody else.
28:33I mean, the problem with Colorado is they have a very corrupt voting system.
28:39They look, I have so many friends in Colorado.
28:42Anytime you have mail in voting, you have corrupt elections.
28:45Very simple.
28:46It's very simple.
28:47Even Jimmy Carter said it with his commission.
28:49They set up a commission with him and Scoop Jackson and some people,
28:53highly regarded people, and they said the one thing, the finding was
28:57if you have mail-in voting, you will have corrupt elections.
29:00Well, your radical left governor decided that he was going to have
29:06all mail-in voting in Colorado.
29:08Once you have all mail-in voting, and for whatever reason,
29:12the Democrats cheat, and they cheat like, you know, they're not stupid.
29:17That's the only thing.
29:18They're no good on policy.
29:19They're no good on management.
29:21They're no good at government, but they're great at cheating,
29:23and they stick together, too.
29:25I give them credit for sticking together.
29:27Mr. President, please.
29:28Obviously, this is a big win for national security, moving this to Alabama.
29:32We've all been to agree with that.
29:33Big.
29:33Is there any idea of the economic impact this has on the state
29:37and on that local area?
29:38Katie, do you want to answer that?
29:40Look, I mean, this will go ahead.
29:41Please go.
29:42This is going to be tremendous.
29:44I mean, the state of Alabama, what we've seen through this process
29:47is the worst of Washington.
29:49We've seen politics get in the way of what is best for the warfighter,
29:53what's best for national security.
29:55And the state of Alabama is about to show the country the best among us.
30:00So we know the economic impact is going to be tremendous there at Redstone Arsenal.
30:03We're proud to house everything from the FBI to headquarters there for material command
30:14to a number of things.
30:15We obviously have NASA with Marshall Space Flight Center, and so this naturally fits within.
30:21When you look at the decision matrix that they placed in front of us, that's why we ranked
30:25so high, is because we have the resources necessary and the ability to build out quickly to meet
30:31the needs in front of us.
30:32As far as economic impact, it would be tremendous.
30:34Does anybody have an exact number?
30:351,600 jobs.
30:383,000 spinoff.
30:40With 3,000 spinoff.
30:41Look at this.
30:41This is teamwork right here.
30:43So we are really proud, and the people of Alabama are ready to get to work.
30:47And I've got a holiday question, if you could, just for a second, Mr. President.
30:50Yeah, please.
30:51Owning a home and going about the American dream, it seems like it's out of touch for a lot of Americans.
30:56Yeah.
30:56Recently, you pushed out a statement about addressing an emergency housing situation.
31:00That's right.
31:01We're thinking about doing that.
31:02Yeah.
31:02Can you just-
31:03Well, we need a little help from the Fed.
31:04We have a man named Jerome Too Late Powell.
31:08You've probably heard of him.
31:09He's too late.
31:10Way too late.
31:11And the economy is so strong that it's pushing through that.
31:15Normally, it would have been much tougher, but we're doing so well that we're pushing through it.
31:20But it makes it very hard for people to get mortgages because too late is too late.
31:25Very simple.
31:26He's too late.
31:27And probably political, whatever.
31:29He wasn't too late before the election.
31:31Before the election, he was cutting rates, right?
31:33Because he was hoping that, I guess, Biden would get in or that Kamala would.
31:37He was a big Biden guy.
31:40Explain that one.
31:41And then he was a Kamala person.
31:42But he was hoping, I guess, she'd win, I guess.
31:45I don't know.
31:46It didn't work out too well.
31:48But, yeah, we need a very serious cut.
31:51You know, I think that if you look back many decades ago, the United States was always the
31:57lowest, even if they were doing badly.
31:59The United States was.
32:01Because without the United States, everything in the world would die.
32:04It's true.
32:04It's so powerful.
32:06It's so big.
32:06And I've made it really big in the first four years.
32:11Then it started to degenerate with what this Biden administration did.
32:15But we built it up to a level that I never thought we could be at this quickly.
32:19We're the hottest, we're the best, we're the best financially.
32:22The money coming in is so big because of tariffs and other things, but because of tariffs.
32:26Tariff gets us even those other things.
32:29Plus, it gets us great negotiating.
32:30I settled seven wars.
32:32And numerous of those wars were because of trade.
32:36And numerous of the trade deals that I made were because of tariffs.
32:39It gives you a great negotiating ability.
32:41If that ability were taken away from us by a liberal court acting on essentially foreign
32:48nations asking to get help from the United States government, when they've been doing
32:53this to us for 40 years, that's why we have $38 trillion in debt.
33:01We won't have it for long if they let us, if they allow us to do what everybody knows we
33:07should be able to do.
33:08Yeah, please.
33:09Mr. President, another Biden-error action that you're now reversing is that you signed
33:13a year last week to make federal buildings adopt and embrace classical architecture styles
33:18again.
33:19Can you talk to us about why you do that and also what's your vision?
33:22Well, we want to see beautiful buildings.
33:24Now, you know, it's in the eye of the beholder.
33:26I've seen architectural reviews over the years.
33:29I'm an expert at it.
33:30I've gotten a lot of great reviews.
33:32But I've seen buildings that I didn't think were very good get great reviews.
33:36And I've seen great buildings get bad reviews.
33:38So but it's just a standard.
33:40We want to have a good standard.
33:42We're building something here.
33:43You know, for 150 years, they wanted a ballroom at the White House.
33:46We're doing something at the highest level using great architects and all.
33:50And, you know, it's very exciting.
33:52But we have a lot of interesting things happening architecturally in D.C.
33:55And D.C.
33:57is like a different place.
33:58And, you know, even the contractor said, sir, we walked down today.
34:01We feel like much safer.
34:04It's like a different place.
34:06Washington, D.C. is great.
34:07Now, we're going to also beautify it.
34:09We're going to put a topping on the roads.
34:11We're not going to rip them apart and take four years to build a road that was exactly
34:15the same by the time you build it.
34:17But we're going to put toppings.
34:19We're going to put new medians in.
34:20We're going to get the graffiti off.
34:21We're going to put tiles up in the tunnels where the tiles are missing.
34:25We'll do the whole tunnel instead of, you know, a little area where you see new tiles,
34:29old tiles that never look too good.
34:30But they could use it.
34:31You know, they've been up 50 years.
34:33They've served their duty.
34:35But we're going to make this within about a 20-mile radius from the White House.
34:42We're going to have this place spick and span.
34:45It's going to be crime-free, and it's going to be spick and span.
34:49It's going to be—you'll be proud of Washington again.
34:51Go ahead, please.
34:51Sir, China's having a massive military parade that President Putin and Kim Jong-un will be attending.
34:56Do you interpret that as a challenge to this?
34:59And are you concerned at all about those countries?
35:00No.
35:01Trying to be some sort of counterweight?
35:03Not at all.
35:03China needs us—and I have a very good relationship with President Xi, as you know—but China needs us much more than we need them.
35:12No, I don't see that at all.
35:13No.
35:14And I had actually a very good meeting with President Putin a couple of weeks ago.
35:19We'll see if anything comes out of it.
35:20If it doesn't, we'll take a different stance.
35:23A rule on March today in California ruled that your deployment of National Guard troops to Los Angeles was illegal.
35:30Do you have any response?
35:31Well, it was a radical left judge, but very importantly, what did you not tell me in that question or statement that you made pretty much of a statement?
35:41Well, I was asking for the response.
35:42No, no, no. You didn't say what the judge said, though. The judge said, but you can leave the 300 people that you already have in place. They can continue to be in place. That's all we need.
35:54But why didn't you put that as part of your statement? Because the judge—the same judge ruled exactly as you said, except the judge said that you could leave the 300 people that you already have in place.
36:06They can stay. They can remain. They can do what they have to do.
36:10Thank you very much, everybody. We appreciate it. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you very much.
36:15Thank you. Thank you, guys. Thanks for us. Thank you. Thank you. Let's head out. Let's go, guys. Thank you. Thank you for us. Thanks, guys. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. Keep going.
36:29Let's go. Let's go. Let's go.
