00:17just celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary oh my god i just put this together now

00:26for some reason i thought when you said 75 that they were just 75 not that they were 70 married

00:3475 years oh my god here's their story it was on august 16th 1950 that this blushing young couple

00:44said their i do's time flies and all too quickly he's doing pretty good 102 on saturday ray and

00:53jean mckay celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary they can still remember the ceremony in a little

00:58white church in skirdoo along the cabbage trail and the reception afterwards lit by kerosene

01:03lanterns it was in the country there was no electricity no warming water jesus so everything

01:11had to be done the hard way all these years later there's something else she recalls about that day

01:18the wedding was at seven o'clock and mr tarnie was late

01:23so the wedding was at seven that's her husband mr tarnie oh god that's she's

01:30still hanging on this 75 years i mean it's just a guy who's learned to ignore her with someone for 75

01:40years oh my god you just are like imagine my jokes for 75 years i basically haven't lived that

01:50i know i know you have yeah but i mean like all directed at a single person that's why stuff doesn't

01:57work right me she's holding on to something from 75 years ago it's still complaining it calls me mr

02:03tardy i'm 102 years old i've been i've wanted to die for 20 years

02:13i never thought about someone holding on to a grudge for 75 years oh my god i don't

02:20she didn't forget that no she won't leave me she said mr tardy tardy was late

02:26so the wedding was at 7 30. three quarters of a century later both husband and wife agree that

02:34they have more than made up for that lost time this past weekend they were showered with cards

02:39from family and friends a certificate from the city and plenty of visitors at their home in westmount

02:44at 102 years young ray mckay is also known for being one of the oldest church organists in the

02:52country and if you think a diamond anniversary was going to get in the way of that this past sunday

02:57think again you still played the church organ on your on your anniversary weekend yes oh yeah yeah

03:03according to a quick search the guinness world record for longest marriage is 88 years 349 days

03:10that means currently ray and jean mckay are just under 14 years shy of that world record mark

03:17i think probably we'll get a divorce before that

03:20jean and i do a little traveling these days i drive her up the wall and she drives me up the

03:28wall oh my god oh my god they hate each other's kids i love it of course they do i love it she drives

03:38me up the wall honestly you want it to last 75 years you just have to say listen we hate each other

03:45i'm not leaving 25 years and you get on people's nerves of course i mean and so 75 i can't imagine

03:52no and all he's doing is sitting in that chair right you know it you start to just have your spot

04:00that you're in you know like i think about even my parents my mom is still like going upstairs and

04:06doing all her genealogy stuff and blah blah blah if they just all of a sudden you're in that chair

04:11and someone else is in another chair and that's it oh god you start shut up

04:19all right tardy yeah turn it down you know like oh all that he's playing the organ she hates it

04:28yeah oh no she can't stand it all jokes aside these two have plenty to be grateful for

04:35they say they are in reasonably good health for their age and they have four children seven

04:39grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren with more on the way when asked what their secret

04:44might be to such a long and happy marriage no secret just patience yeah and keep on talking
