Vietnam has celebrated 80 years since its declaration of independence from French colonial rule with the largest military parade Hanoi has seen in decades.

00:00Vietnam has celebrated its national day with its biggest military parade in decades.
00:05It's now 80 years since leader Ho Chi Minh declared Vietnam's independence from France.
00:11And while it would take almost a decade of fighting to drive out their French colonial rulers,
00:15September 2nd is still observed as the country's official Independence Day.
00:20Tens of thousands of onlookers watched the parade,
00:22which featured some of Vietnam's most advanced military hardware.
00:25Soldiers from other countries, including China and Russia, also took part.
