A recently-opened pub nestled between Sunderland and South Tyneside offers a unique twist on a traditional favourite.
The high-tech Dartsee board is an attraction of a type usually only seen in big city centre venues, but customers at The Raven in Cleadon can enjoy the fun in their local.

00:00The dark area was well used before, but now I think with this very modern twist on it, it leaps and bounds above what it was.
00:16What?
00:17Oh, I'm having that.
00:18What?
00:22I'm using that tip.
00:2330 years ago, you would have not gone into a pub without seeing a dartboard.
00:29It was pretty much, every pub had a dartboard, and there's a reason for that, because they're great for social interaction.
00:35This, because for 2025, you tend to put your phone away, and it's quite cheeky.
00:41The screen, there's some great memes on there, but what you end up with is something that we've forgotten the art of, which is socialising.
00:47And then you come away and wonder, why did I have such a good time? It's because you do.
00:50It is called Dart C, and there's so many different game modes to try.
00:54Absolutely loads of different fun you can have on it, and it's completely interactive.
00:58And if you're like me, and you can't add up and do addition, it does it all for you.
01:01You can go in your scanner, QR code, so then we've got the details.
01:06There's a camera on the board itself, so when you play, it's actually facing on.
01:10It's getting you, but there's cameras in the board, which, where the dart lands, it automatically counts and registers it.
01:18But you can play 14 different games. You can actually play a game of football using the darts and the score.
01:24It's basically super, super versatile.
01:26So you'll be able to come in and play internationally against different teams and different people, and sort of interactive games.
01:33You can register as you're playing, and it sends you videos and sort of the end bits of results and that kind of thing.
01:38And you take away a souvenir of a victory, if you're lucky.
01:43It is unique. The only places you can find this system normally would be very similar to Flight Club.
01:49And I think Lane 7, which again are city centre locations where people are grouping to go for parties in the city.
01:56This is local doorsteppy in a pub that is a real pub.
02:01Early last year, I came and visited the old schoolhouse in Cleeden with a view of turning it into a bar.
02:08We've opened last month. Hopefully, I think it's been well accepted.
02:14But, yeah, it's a unique bar, cocktail bar, craft ale, something you can get, something for everybody, all in one place.
02:21We've been meaning to come in for about the last four or five weeks, came in last Sunday to go to Romano's.
02:26They got a nice Sunday lunch and popped in and recognised Lucy, who used to work for me when we had the fat butter at Seaburn.
02:32So I've been dealing with a company to place their dartboards around the UK and beyond.
02:39So I said to Paul and Sarah, would you fancy trying the dartboard out?
02:44Because I had a dartboard in the corner and this dartboard is for 2025. Interactive, screen, it's just addictive fun.
02:52With something like this, it's very modern, but it suits the bar very well.
02:56And it's getting loads and loads of comments on it already, to be fair.
03:00And we're not even 24 hours in yet and it's getting some great reviews.
03:05The Raven stands for transformation and change. It's one of the things that we wanted to do in the first place.
03:09We've done that with the building. We continue to do it with drinks and with different beers.
03:13And now we've added something a bit extra.
03:15And the great thing about the training takes about 14 seconds as you found out.
03:19Not so happy with that.
03:20Because never having thrown a dart, on your seventh dart you've got a bullseye.
03:25So there's a natural ability there in your left arm.
