00:25and in a horrific act by Harmeet, he has now gone on to escape from custody.
00:35Let me cut across to Kamaljeet Sandhu, joining us with further details on this man and how he escaped.

00:52because remember Punjab which is facing the wrath of floods, remember this MLA says he had been raising his voice
01:00especially regarding the inadequacies as far as the flood situation is concerned, highlighting it.
01:07But said, he also alleged that it was the interference of the ARP Delhi team which has left to a crisis.
01:14Now his lawyer has been speaking to media.
01:16Right. Kamaljeet, I apologize, I'm interrupting you here but Sardar R.P. Singh is with us on the phone line.
01:22Let's get a quick reaction from him on this latest development after which I come back to you.
01:26Sardar R.P. Singh, this ARP MLA who has now escaped from custody after committing one crime after the other.
01:33Well, that's the DNA of the Amami party and this man has been fooling a woman by saying that he is not married
01:39and still he has been exploiting that woman and since the woman has filed a complaint now,
01:44he is trying to take a recuse under that he was trying to challenge the ARP government leadership there,
01:51saying that they are being managed by Delhi leaders.
01:54But that's a different issue.
01:55I mean, he is trying to just take a cover.
01:57But the fact is that the woman who has filed a formal complaint against him for cheating on her
02:02and then by exploiting her sexually.
02:06So, this is a neutral pursuit and I'm hopeful that this will reach to a final conclusion.
02:12Not just for formality's sake, they file case and they later on try to put it under the cover.
02:19Your message, sir, to the Arm Army Party Supremo and the cops in Punjab
02:27who have also been at the receiving end when it comes to the ARP MLA.
02:32Well, I'm saying so on record that they should do take it to the final conclusion,
02:36not that merely filing a case and then arresting a person and then later on letting him off
02:41just because of the pressure right now and then later on letting him off
02:47and then under the pressure of the central issue of the Arm Army Party.
02:52I hope this is not another fast which happens with the Arm Army Party.
02:57Then they will let off under some excuse or other.

03:08I go back to my colleague Kamiljeet who continues to track every single detail,
03:11Kamiljeet, the kind of political doubt this man enjoys that he has been able to escape so far.
03:19The kind of charges that have been levelled against him.
03:21Tell us what the inside story is.
03:27See, it's unusual circumstances, almost like a film.
03:31But let me tell you, let's just break down.
03:33The fire happened on 1st of September late in the night after 11 o'clock.
03:38And in the intervening night they obviously found out that he was in Karnal, a team was sent, Haryanapolis was involved and then he was taken into custody.
03:46And shortly after that what we know is that he and his associates, while being taken away, seem to have managed to escape by firing at Punjab police.
03:55And this is where they fled in two cars, a Fortuner and a Scorpio.
03:59The Fortuner was subsequently seized, but the MLA has fled away in a Scorpio along with his aide.
04:06Now, what has led to a major embarrassment is that he has said that this is a political case because there was an FIR which was registered by the woman.
04:15And that is being heard in the high court saying he had some sort of relief and a DIG.
04:20Ropad was marked into the inquiry.
04:23Subsequently, it was also the Ropad police, the Mohali police, which was looking into this entire aspect of allegations.
04:29But he said he'd been voicing concerns as far as the flooding and the inadequacies as far as the Amadi party arrangement regarding the flood is concerned.
04:39And also talking about Delhi management of the Amadi party really trying to instill angst against him.
04:49And this is where things get really complicated because remember a second case was filed, Punjab police was formed and a team was sent to Karnal.
04:57And this is when all this actually unfolded.
05:02But what is going to be embarrassing is the sort of escape which has really happened because it seems that Punjab police was totally unaware.
05:09One of the police personnel is injured in this exchange of fire.
05:14But clearly, the Amadi party, MLA, is now on the run leading to a major face-off and a major embarrassment for the Amadi party,
05:23especially at a time where they're dealing with another of issues and a crisis.
05:28That is the Punjab floods.
05:30Meanwhile, when the action takes place, remember the complainant Gurpreet Kaur has alleged that she was staying in a living-in relationship.
05:38And this is where he was already married.
05:41So, a whole lot of things have really happened.
05:43A controversial man being caught out in a controversial arrest case.
05:50And this is where the Amadi party, obviously,
05:53Punjab police sources saying the hunt is really on as far as the MLA is concerned.
05:58But clearly, this is going to leave many in the Amadi party red-faced.
06:04Red-faced indeed and several challenges at hand.
06:08Like you rightly said, coming at a time when Punjab is reeling with widespread floods.
06:13And this AAP MLA that has caused huge embarrassment also to understand the kind of clout he enjoys of how well-connected is he to the top leadership that he is being able to get away.
06:26The fact that he literally, in order to run away, tried to run the SUV over the cops and now escaping from custody also speaks of the law and order situation in the state.
06:40Well, one has to remember that this arrest has happened in Karnal, which is the neighbouring state of Haryana.
06:51The other part is not just about the clout.
06:53What he is alleging is against the Amadi party leadership, saying that he had voiced concerns regarding floods, regarding loopholes, especially in dealing with flood.
07:03He went live on Facebook, apprehending that there would be a case against him, that there would be a subsequent arrest.
07:09And this is where he has made serious allegations against the former Delhi chief minister, as well as the Amadi party leadership from Delhi, saying they are the ones who are really leading this.
07:21The lawyer himself is calling this entire thing illegal.
07:24But meanwhile, running from the clutches of law, remember he could have petitions, especially in the court.
07:31He is saying there was an FI-er, how could there be a second FI-er of the same case?
07:36So all this is being seen at a point of time where the MLA says he is being critical of the functioning of the Amadi party leadership.
07:44So all this is going to turn out to be a huge mess as far as the Amadi party is concerned,
07:49because the Delhi unit very much being present here since the loss in Delhi polls.
07:56So a whole lot of them, including Arvind K. J. Wal, have been persistently present in Punjab.
08:01And obviously at a critical juncture where Punjab is facing a lot of flood-like situations,
08:06especially in the hinterland and a great level of flooding, especially in several of the border districts.
08:13This has come at a point of time where this embarrassment could have been avoided.
08:16But the Amadvi party, MLA, their own man, has turned out to be a major embarrassment for the party itself.
08:23Indeed he is, because he is playing the victim card here,
08:26but the BJP pointing fingers at the Amadvi party over all that is happening.
