Russia accused of jamming GPS of Ursula von der Leyen's plane during Bulgaria trip

00:00Russia has been accused of jamming the GPS of the airplane-carrying European Commission
00:07Chief Ursula von der Leyen during her official visit to Bulgaria on Sunday.
00:12The plane was forced to land at Plovdiv airport using paper maps instead of the conventional
00:17electronic system.
00:19Von der Leyen's visit to Bulgaria was part of her tour of member states that border Russia
00:23and Belarus, aimed at expressing solidarity and promoting the European Union's plan to
00:28ramp up defence spending.
00:31Of course, this will only reinforce even further our unshakable commitment to ramp up defence
00:38capabilities and support for Ukraine.
00:42This incident actually underlines the urgency of the mission that the President is carrying
00:47out in the frontline member states these days.
00:51There she has seen first-hand the everyday challenges of threats coming from Russia and
00:58its proxies.

01:09Russia has been repeatedly accused of jamming and spoofing GPS systems across Eastern Europe.
01:14The interference is considered a form of hybrid warfare launched by the Kremlin in retaliation
