Transcript
00:00On Saturday, the Metropolitan Police said two groups marched to the Crowne Plaza near
00:12EFRA Airport in West London, and a group of masked men attempted to enter the building
00:20through the rear entrance, damaging security fences.
00:24Other protesters moved towards the nearby Novotel on Cherry Lane and a Holiday Inn, while
00:32officers enforced cordons in the area to prevent a breach of the peace.
00:37The force added two officers suffered minor injuries and five arrests were made.
00:45Despite all this, most of the protesting was said to have been peaceful.
00:50Of course, demonstrations broke out across London and the country after the government
00:58won a court's challenge on Friday, which means asylum seekers can continue to be housed at
01:06the Bell Hotel in Epping.
01:08Unsurprisingly, a number of separate protests also took place in Epping, including one which
01:15saw protesters march towards the local council offices.
01:21Assistant Chief Constable Glenn Pavlin of Essex Police said the strength of feeling in Epping
01:28was not lost on him or anyone in Essex Police, but said he would urge anyone who wants to make
01:37their voices heard to please do that peacefully.
01:41He's for latehomme!
