Richard Tice has announced Reform UK's plans to overhaul council-controlled pension funds. In a press conference delivered on Monday, the deputy leader of Reform UK said "it's the council taxpayer who is being ripped off" as he vowed to slash council tax bills by £350 a year.

00:00What we are seeing is a gravy-trained culture in the local government pension schemes of overcharging with no responsibility, of underperformance, with no accountability whatsoever, and it's the council taxpayer who's being ripped off, who is suffering the consequences.
00:20Now, there's some very detailed performance charts. You'll be pleased to know I'm not going to go into those, but they are in your pack, setting out the performance per council per year.
00:30One year, three years to March 24, and five years to March 25. It's quite interesting how slow they are, actually, to audit their numbers. That sort of tells you something, frankly.
00:42But you're looking at a range of between 6% and 8% of annual council expenditure.
