00:00The Los Angeles Dodgers not having a good time right now against Arizona Diamondbacks pitching.
00:04Eduardo Rodriguez is shutting you down. The guy doesn't shut anybody down. Completely shut down
00:07the Dodgers yesterday. Yamamoto's on the mound going up against Brandon Ford. Monster favorite
00:12here, Tom. Opened up at minus 250 for the Dodgers overnight. Now we're seeing it down to the minus
00:16220 prices here and nines across the board. Sooner than later, the Dodgers got to wake up
00:20in that heat and humidity today. As I said at the top, the Dodgers losing games to a division rival,
00:28that's fine. Losing games to a division rival when it's been Zach Allen and Eduardo Rodriguez
00:35on the mound, kind of unacceptable. Brandon Ford is on the mound today. If they lose today,
00:40more importantly, if they lose today and they don't score runs today, that is an indictment
00:44on the Dodgers lineup. Brandon Ford, when we're looking at things overall, 5-4-0 XFIP over
00:50the last 45 days. His ERA, excuse me, 5-4-0 ERA, his XFIP is at 4-0-9 over the last 45 days,
00:57which is actually pretty solid. But when we're looking at these games for him,
01:00six earned runs and a home run, only two earned runs. He was going up against Cleveland. Four
01:04earned runs, home run, three earned runs. He's giving up runs. He's giving up hits. The Dodgers
01:08have to get runs across the board. In the same time span, Yamamoto has been unbelievable, Donnie.
01:143-8-2 ERA, his XFIP is even lower, 3-1-2. This is the time for them to be the Dodgers,
01:19to go out there and have eight strikeouts, seven strikeouts, over six innings for Yamamoto,
01:25only one or two earned runs, and they have to score against Brandon Fah. And the Diamondbacks
01:30still have a bottom five bullpen when it's all said and done. Score some runs today.
01:36Yamamoto, you take a look at that 3.12 XFIP, Tom, over the past 45 days in a 3.36 year,
01:41and you might find yourself saying, like, wait a second, I don't understand. Why is this total
01:44around nine? Like, shouldn't Yamamoto shut it down? Understand this. Usually, really good pitching
01:49is going to beat out really good hitting. That's what the playoffs are built on. That's why Major
01:52League Baseball, they don't see, like, nine to eight games every night in the playoffs. Good
01:55bullpens, good starters, and that's what happens. But if you look at the last 30 days here, Tom,
01:59for the Arizona Diamondbacks, their hard contact rate and bow rate is maybe the best in Major
02:03League Baseball. It's astounding that they lost players, and they're still every bit as good.
02:07Now, if you look at Yamamoto's last three starts, six innings pitch, two earned runs, that's good.
02:11Seven innings pitch, three earned runs, that's good. He got lumped up a little bit against the Angels,
02:15four and two-thirds innings at six earned runs. But again, we're telling you about the flip side,
02:18right? If you can get a couple runs out of the Diamondbacks, that still means heavy lifting has
02:23supposed to be done by the Dodgers. And just some of those metrics that we love, hard hit contact
02:27rate, Tom, all nine batters anticipated today, all elevated for the Dodgers. Bower rates, I got one,
02:32two, three, four, five, six high barrel rates over the past 30 days for the Dodgers batters against
02:36right-handed pitching. Tom pointed out 92-degree temperatures. But here's the fun part, right?
02:41Like, the BAPIP numbers. This is why the Dodgers are held down. Freddie Freeman has a 14%
02:45barrel rate in a 241 BAPIP number. Makes no sense. Teoscar Hernandez, 69 at bats, 18% barrel rate,
02:53225 BAPIP. You take a look at Andy Paz, 12% barrel rate. It was at 80 at bats, Tom, 283 BAPIP.
02:59Alex Freeland, you know, 66 at bats, 60% hard contact rate, 11% barrel rate, 286 BAPIP. Something
03:07has to change. And we think it's changing today. Again, if they can't do this against Brandon Fon,
03:15not good. Shut it down. I have Freddie Freeman for a prop, which we're coming up to in the next
03:21few segments. I have Freddie Freeman for a prop today. I like what he's done this season. He's
03:25been arguably the second best hitter on the team, third best hitter outside of Watani,
03:29Will Smith, if he's in there today, and Freddie Freeman. And Fon's been terrible. It's 90 plus
03:34degrees. You have to get it done. Give me some runs from the Dodgers and Freddie Freeman will lead the way.
