00:00Your number one player to avoid is based off of, I think, career history of games missed or injury, as well as the ADP.
00:07And I want you to maybe just start right there. He's RB4, an ADP of seven, and you're saying completely stay away. Floor is yours.
00:15Well, it's funny. Last year, I took a lot of heat because I told people to avoid Christian McCaffrey at one, right?
00:20And how'd that work out? Just saying. Just asking the same people who want to come at me, how'd that work out?
00:25I love Christian McCaffrey. He's a phenomenal player. He is extraordinary talent. He is a league-winning player.
00:32But he's also a league-losing player. And when you have to draft somebody who's the seventh guy off the board, to me, that's just a bridge too far.
00:39Matt, how many games or touches or plays has Christian McCaffrey been involved in this preseason?
00:47Zero?
00:47The answer is zero. Right. Zero.
00:50I'm always so afraid to get the answer wrong, especially when you lean in and give me the Jiminy Glick.
00:55Like, tell me. Tell me how many it is. What's going on here? But zero. Zero. Okay?
01:01Now, is that them keeping him a bubble wrap? Sure, maybe.
01:05But it would have been nice if my first-round pick played a little bit in the preseason and was healthy enough to play.
01:10So am I supposed to now, for the second year in a row, you know, what's the old thing?
01:15You know, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
01:18So, what? Now we're going to just believe the 49ers a second time around, that everything is just hunky-dory and fine?
01:22When we started this process in July, Christian McCaffrey was the 14th player going off the board in July.
01:27July. Best ball season. Different game. Okay, whatever.
01:31At 14, I was like, wow, that's really intriguing. 14 or even at the turn at 12.
01:36Yeah, I'm in on Christian McCaffrey because that kind of pick there makes sense.
01:40And you say, well, it's only five spots later.
01:41Yeah, it's five spots later, but I can also get another guy right after him to back it up.
01:46An alpha dog, a Nico Collins, a Drake London, maybe even an Ashton Gentry or a Derrick Henry.
01:52But the fact that he's getting drafted over Derrick Henry, who all Derrick Henry does is rush for 1,900 yards every year with 18 touchdowns.
01:57And nobody seems to care but me.
01:59I'm the only person who cares in fantasy football that Derrick Henry is great every single year.
02:03And Christian McCaffrey, God bless him, he's a phenomenal talent.
02:06But I just don't have to take somebody at seven with that much risk.
02:10And I just don't like it.
02:11Could he end up being the number one guy?
02:12Of course.
02:13Could he end up winning guys in a lot of leagues?
02:15Sure.
02:15But then tell me this.
02:16If everything is so great, why didn't they just pick another running back off the scrap heap?
02:20Why did they go out there and make a trade for a really solid running back and Brian Robinson on top of that?
02:24I'm sorry.
02:25All this math to me doesn't math when it comes to Christian McCaffrey being a quote unquote safe pick at seven.
02:32Yeah, no, listen, it's hard to argue with that.
02:35And I feel your passion.
02:36And when someone like you gets passionate about something, there's something there.
02:39Where there's smoke, there's fire.
02:40Keep that passion going here for another running back, RB15, an ADP of 36.
02:46You can handle yourself down in the Mission District in the streets of San Francisco.
02:50But can you handle yourself in East Rutherford, New Jersey?
02:53Go ahead.
02:54Yeah, I can.
02:55In the swamp lands of East Rutherford.
02:57Yeah, I can definitely.
02:58Yeah, definitely.
02:59Look, here's the thing.
03:00Brees Hall is a very, again, talented running back.
03:03A 36 player off the board, RB15.
03:05It's not terrible.
03:06But my problem is the guys around him in that range.
03:10And I'm just going to rattle off some of the names.
03:11Joe Burrow's at 40.
03:13Okay?
03:14That's pretty close.
03:15Joe Burrow, I think, could end up being MVP this year.
03:17Travion Henderson's at 43.
03:20Devontae Adams, a player I love this year.
03:22You have Tony Pollard, who has three straight years of 1,000 yards rushing.
03:25You have George Pickens.
03:27You have R.J. Harvey, Tedaroa McMillan, Cortland Sutton, coming off a wide receiver 13 season.
03:32So all those guys from 40 to about.
03:36But all those guys from 40 to 55 in that range with Brees Hall, I just like all those players
03:41more.
03:42And then I can get Braylon Allen as the 95th player off the board later if I want to share
03:47of what this backfield could be.
03:48Because if it is a 1-1A kind of backfield and they end up a 60-40 split, I just don't
03:54think it's a great look for Brees Hall at that ADP.
03:56So again, it's not about hating the player.
03:58It's about hating the ADP.
04:00And just going back to McCaffrey, I want everybody to marinate on that Brian Robinson comment too.
04:05There's a lot of running backs that could have been had for nothing.
04:07They gave up some draft capital to get Brian Robinson, who's not just a throwaway guy.
04:12He's a really solid, decent NFL running back.
04:15Let that sink in about what San Francisco might do in that backfield.
