00:00David, congratulations on your performance and the results.
00:19I thought we'd done really well today, I thought we played well.
00:24We gave away two goals very unlike us at Everton, to be honest, which gave Wills a chance
00:29to get back in the game.
00:30I thought it was 3-1, we were pretty comfortable, we gave up a really poor goal.
00:35So we had to suffer a little bit in the last ten minutes or so, but I thought for the majority
00:40of the game we'd done very well.
00:42One of your priorities for someone is to bring some creativity to this side, I think
00:46we saw some really intricate and intelligent passages of play, particularly in the lead
00:50up to the first and second goal.
00:52How refreshing was it to see you to be able to have that at your disposal?
00:56Well we've got some more attacking players, last year we probably couldn't score any
01:02goals and struggling to get goals, defensively we had been pretty good.
01:06So I've tried to add players who could maybe get us more goals.
01:10We don't have 70 or 80 millions to buy centre forward to at that level, so we've also had
01:16to try and piece together bits of it and bring in people who we think could help create goals
01:19and score goals and Dewsbury Hall scored a really good goal today, Jack Grealish has made
01:25a few assists now as well, Ellie's got a couple already, Beto's got a couple, so we're just
01:31beginning to start getting some goals.
01:32Given how good you were, so long in that game, how frustrating was it to concede authority
01:38in the way that you did?
01:38Yeah, it was really poor, as I said, I didn't like the two goals today we lost, I thought
01:45they were very unlike us, so we'll do a bit of a lot and try and make sure it doesn't
01:50happen again.
01:51It could be, maybe what actions could be, but it shouldn't make that big a difference
02:02to what we're doing.
02:03We still see the work rate from Ellie and I, we still see it from Jack Grealish, Kiernan,
02:09so we're not actually telling them not to do it, so it was just a few moments, I think,
02:13more defensive lapses than anything else.
02:15And then you brought Mr Gayle 15 minutes ago, was that injury related?
02:21No, that was just to put some fresh legs on to give us another freshness going into the
02:26last 15 minutes, so that's what happens, managers make subs.
02:31David wouldn't expect you to go into what happened with Jack at Man City the last couple
02:35of seasons, but what does it take for a player to sort of make such a dramatic upturn in productivity
02:42and form in such a short space of time, you know, he's only had to do a three-day, he looks
02:47a different player.
02:48Well, it's nothing to do with me, let me tell you, it's all to do with Jack and his
02:52own mentality to be better, and I use the word, there's a wee bit to prove, I'm sure, I think
02:59we all have, I think in life you've always got to keep something you have to strive to do,
03:04and I think Jack wants to show that he's a good player.
03:06I think he's shown it at the moment, I think some of his football has been really good.
03:12The biggest compliment I could probably give him is, he's better than I thought he was,
03:18you know, he's so good.
03:21And he's showing a side to his game as well, you know, he was defending back, he was tracking
03:24back, he was key in the team on.
03:26Yeah, like he's played, him and Kieran have just come away from probably two of the biggest
03:30sides and serial winners, and so they have to fit into us at Everton, I think they both
03:35are, they're both really committed, they're in with the others doing the work Jack is as
03:40well.
03:41And by the way, there'll be times we don't get it always right, but I think what Jack gives
03:46us is something just on the edge, which hopefully is on the edge of creativeness, and
03:50maybe scoring goals.
03:52You mentioned last week about goals from midfield, he's not going to score like that every week,
04:02but how encouraged are you by the runs in the heart, he can score a lot of goals this season?
04:06Yeah, I hope so, I hope we can, we need to score, I mean it's getting the goals from many
04:12different positions if possible, and we've started quite well, we're getting three goals today,
04:18we're disappointed in conceding two, but to score three away from home is a good start
04:22for us.
04:23And overall in terms of what he brings to the team?
04:26He brings us a little bit of poise as well, Dewsbury Hall, he's a really nice footballer,
04:31sees the game well, his vision is very good, but I always thought that if we could get him
04:39in the right positions, I think he'll score enough goals, I do, I think he can score goals
04:44from midfield, and it was a really good goal he scored today.
04:48Any further questions, folks, or are we done?
04:51Cheers, thank you.
04:52Cheers.
04:54Cheers.
04:56Cheers.
