The Auburn Tigers had contributions from all three phases in a 38-24 win over the Baylor Bears
Transcript
00:00All right, oh man, just a thrill, thrilled for our fans, our team,
00:07everybody that's in the Auburn family.
00:10Once again, they prove how much they love our football team and university,
00:14the way they traveled and showed up here in Waco,
00:17and our band set up in the heat for hours.
00:21I was worried about them passing out.
00:23I told one of our assistant ADs that let's ship them some water up there,
00:28but just thankful for our Auburn fans.
00:30They travel and support us so well, and we're grateful we could find a way to win
00:37against what I think is a very gritty, mature football team in Baylor,
00:41and I hope they have a great year.
00:43I like Dave Arenda a lot, and I thought their kids were gritty.
00:48But when it was on the line, I mean, our offensive line leaned on them,
00:52and we had that drive, the last one to put it away.
00:55It was a 12-play drive for 75 yards that ate up about seven minutes and 16 seconds, I think.
01:02And then when we have to get a first down to win the game, again, they found a way to do it.
01:07I thought Jackson played really solid and didn't force hardly anything
01:11and just took what they gave us.
01:13And they were determined not to let us throw it down the field.
01:17They played two high safeties the entire night pretty much, and thus the rushing.
01:23I mean, after that first drive, we had eight consecutive drives of seven-plus plays.
01:28And really, I think Jackson would probably agree, the two that we didn't score points on,
01:34we kind of shot ourselves in the foot, and they got us with a blitz,
01:38and then we got a holding penalty that killed a drive.
01:41But I thought it was a solid, solid effort and just thankful we're 1-0
01:47against what I think is a pretty good football team.
