Auburn Tigers head coach is never satisfied with his offense, but still likes the progress his team is making in fall camp ahead of their game with the Baylor Bears.
00:00Coach, how do you feel about the offense as a whole at this point in time in the camp?
00:04I'm never totally pleased.
00:06You know, it feels like in the live periods we've gone that we haven't executed as well as I hope.
00:16But I have to say that's probably every camp I've ever been in.
00:20And, you know, you're not game planning for everything DJ's putting in.
00:25And that's really hard on the offensive line.
00:28You know, when they go out there and here's a new blitz today that Ed Gummett, you know, that's we've got to cover that the next practice and get it right.
00:37And here's another one.
00:39And even though we know it's going in, it's one thing to know it's going in, but another thing you haven't seen it live.
00:46So I'm pleased with the effort.
00:48I'm pleased with, I think, the community and connection that our team is making.
00:53And still really confident that we can be a really good offense, even though I think we've still got to get, we've got to make sure from this point forward that the what to do is at a high, high, high percentage.
01:08And then we'll worry about, all right, you maybe should do it a little different, but we've got the what to do exactly right and against all the looks that you see.
01:18It would be much easier when you're planning for one team that does these things.
01:23Yeah, you'll get surprised in the game sometimes, but it shouldn't be, gosh, there's 13 new things that we've seen.
01:30I mean, it just typically is not that way.
01:32So I would think that would hopefully help our execution.
01:37And you're blowing the whistle here every time somebody gets close to the quarterback.
01:42And I do think our quarterbacks have the ability to extend plays, and we're really not giving them a chance to do a lot of that.
01:49We are Monday.
01:50We're going to do a period Monday where, because I think our defense, one thing we do need to work on defense is containing the rush lanes.
01:57I think we've got to improve on that, and so we're going to work kind of on that starting Sunday.
02:03Sunday will be Monday because we're going to treat the next two weeks like a Friday game.
