00:00Hello there, welcome to your latest Met Office forecast and the weekend is going
00:05to be dominated by low pressure. Looking at the bigger picture you can see a
00:09large area of low pressure sat to the northwest of the UK, weather fronts
00:12pushing its way eastwards, strong blustery showers following on behind, you
00:16can see the ice bars closely packed together there indicating some brisk
00:20winds as well particularly in the west and lots of showers feeding in right
00:24through into the beginning of next week. So for this afternoon a bit of a Westy
00:29split out there, cloudy in western areas without breaks of rain, this could be
00:33heavy at times over the higher ground, driest and brightest across eastern
00:37areas particularly eastern England, northeast Scotland there'll be some
00:40glimmers of sunshine here and then some brighter skies starting to push into
00:44Northern Ireland later on this afternoon. For everyone quite a blustery afternoon
00:48particularly in the west, widely we could see gusts of 25-30 miles an hour but
00:52around western coast we could see gusts close to gale force around 45 miles an
00:56hour perhaps a little stronger in one or two spots and so under the cloud and the
01:01outbreaks of rain it will be quite cool here temperatures around 18 to 21
01:05Celsius we could see around 20 to 30 millimeters or so by the end of the day
01:10in the west. In the sunshine here 22-23 Celsius possible across eastern England
01:16reaching around 20 Celsius across northeast Scotland so feeling pleasant where you do
01:20manage to hold on to some brightness and dry weather but eventually the rain
01:25pushes eastwards through the rest of the UK this evening time but generally
01:29clearing in the early hours and then a blustery night to come, a mixture of clear
01:33spells and scattered showers. Showers most frequent in the west so a lot of areas
01:38will stay dry with clear skies but it remains quite breezy and that will keep
01:42temperatures up for most of us in double figures perhaps touching single figures
01:46in the countryside. So Sunday morning gets off to a bright start for many of us
01:50there'll be plenty of sunny spells but showers particularly in the west and
01:54along the south coast of England as well from the word go and as we move through
01:57the day the showers become a bit more widespread one or two of them will be on
02:01the heavy side at times and rumbles of thunder some blustery winds as well more
02:05organized area of rain pushing eastwards across Northern Ireland into western
02:09Scotland as we move through the day and widely windy if anything the winds a
02:13little stronger on Sunday we could see gusts of 50 to 60 miles an hour
02:16stretching up from the Isle of Man across eastern coast of Northern Ireland into
02:22western Scotland as well so if you are travelling it is worth sort of staying
02:25up to date with the the latest forecast and the showers passing through giving
02:29some local disruption as well but if you manage to avoid the showers and you stay
02:34in the sunshine it will be fairly pleasant temperatures near average the high
02:37teens to low 20s again 22 23 Celsius as a top temperature across South East
02:43England and further showers will continue to end the day on Sunday longer spells of
02:48rain as we get closer to this area of low pressure across Northern Ireland western
02:52parts of Scotland the showers becoming frequent across Wales as well continued
02:56risk of some hail and thunder in those showers as well generally dry the further
03:01south and east you go and looking at the beginning of September early next week we
03:06see unsettled weather continuing further rain in places some heavy showers some
03:11brisk winds and temperatures overall will be around average for the time of year so if
03:15you're in the rain and against the wind it will feel rather cool but fairly
03:19pleasant to start September in any sunnier breaks if you'd like more
