We're here at the Old Bush in Wombant and we're with manager. Hello madam, what's your name?
00:05
I'm Deborah Good.
00:06
And Debbie, you're all chilled now, sort of, at the bar, but you're setting off today on a bit of an epic challenge, aren't you?
00:13
Fill us in on what you're going to be doing.
00:15
We are. We're leaving here at 3pm today.
00:19
We're going to drive up to Wales where we're going to stop overnight, get ourselves up early hours,
00:26
and drive to Mount Snowden where we will start walking at 3pm in the morning.
00:32
3pm in the morning?
00:33
At our first challenge.
00:34
I mean, you might just be starting to get lightish-ish, maybe.
00:38
It says at 7 o'clock.
00:40
Yeah.
00:40
I googled it sometimes.
00:42
Yeah.
00:43
Then after climbing Mount Snowden, we get back into our van and kindly donate it to us for the use of the trip.
00:55
W.C.
00:56
Right.
00:57
R.C.
00:58
R.C. Williams.
00:59
R.C. Williams, civil engineers.
01:01
They are.
01:01
Yeah, so they've donated one of their welfare vans, isn't it?
01:05
So you've got that, and the fuel.
01:06
Yes.
01:07
Fair play to them.
01:07
Some kind of them.
01:08
Yeah.
01:10
Then we drive onto our next mountain, which is Cadre Idris.
01:17
Get ourselves ready.
01:19
Up and down that one.
01:21
I mean, that doesn't make it sound too easy, does it?
01:23
We'll just pop up and down that one.
01:26
And then on to our last feet, which will be Penny Fan.
01:34
I mean, that's, you know, what have you been doing to get yourself ready for this?
01:38
Because I know physically there's no way I could be doing what you're about to do.
01:42
Well, just, we decided in February that we were going to do this and do it for the charity
01:50
of brain tumour research.
01:53
Fantastic chap.
01:54
How come them?
01:55
Any particular?
01:57
The main reason is one of my oldest and best friends has a brain tumour.
02:02
Oh, wow.
02:03
Okay.
02:03
So there's a bit of a stuff, yeah.
02:05
Yeah.
02:05
And so that was the reason for the charity.
02:08
Yeah.
02:09
But since then, it's just been amazing how many people in the pub who have either suffered
02:16
within themselves or have had relatives who have, you know, sadly passed or have fought
02:25
the fight to get a cure.
02:28
There's a lot of people affected, isn't there?
02:31
There really is.
02:31
More than I ever thought.
02:33
Yeah.
02:33
Yeah, yeah.
02:34
Right.
02:34
So this is the gang of girls that's going to be terrorising walkers up the mountains.
02:38
And who have we got left to write then?
02:40
We've got Lucy.
02:41
Yep.
02:42
Louise.
02:43
Sally May.
02:45
Myself.
02:47
Kelly.
02:48
And Emily.
02:49
It's going to be a great bonding experience.
02:51
Fantastic.
02:52
So fantastic work.
02:54
I mean, what's, what have you been doing for training now?
02:57
I did mention the reeking.
02:58
You have been up there a few times, haven't you?
03:00
We have been up there a few times, haven't you?
03:00
We have been up there a few times, haven't you?
03:00
We have been up there a few times, haven't you?
03:00
We've been doing Kimberhead.
03:03
All the local and some of the girls who have had more time, because there's six of us in
03:08
all, have been going further afield.
03:12
Every opportunity, every holiday has ended up being a walking holiday.
03:18
And are you confident physically you're ready for it then?
03:22
We're as ready as we're ever going to be.
03:24
And have you dared to look at the forecast?
03:26
I mean, what you don't want, is it too hot, do you?
03:27
It's definitely not going to be that.
03:30
Yeah, but that's probably a good thing though, isn't it, really?
03:32
Apparently it's going to be torrential rain and 40 mile an hour winds.
03:36
Winds, I don't know.
03:37
I don't know about that.
03:38
But yeah, a bit of rain might be refreshing when you're kind of halfway up a big hill.
03:42
It'll be what it'll be.
03:43
Yeah, yeah.
03:44
Well, so the six of you are going, is there some of the staff here involved, yeah?
03:48
Yeah, five of the staff.
03:49
Oh, wow, okay.
03:50
All women, yeah?
03:51
All ladies.
03:53
All ladies, yeah, yeah.
03:54
Putting us men to shame, smashing it, mate, smashing it.
03:57
Well, how much are you hoping to raise?
04:00
Any particular goal?
04:01
Right, we set a goal on the giving page at 6,000.
04:06
Yeah.
04:06
We have smashed that already.
04:08
Yeah.
04:08
We're up to, on the giving page alone, we have 9,800 and something found so far.
04:15
Awesome.
04:16
We've also got 2,000 pound on sponsorship for, and then we've got gift aid that will be added
04:23
onto that.
04:24
Yeah, yeah.
04:24
So we're heading towards 15,000.
04:26
Well, we wish you all the very best, and get back to the old bushing behind the bar in
04:31
one piece.
04:32
Cheers, Debbie.
04:34
We need to go.
