00:36Are they the most telling us?
00:38They are talking about the regional manager.
00:41The officer is not talking about the beef ban.
00:47They have said that the office has beef ban will not be allowed in the office.
00:52Here is a town that is called canteen.
00:55That canteen has been able to buy the beef.
00:57He is all of the beef with exact orders.
01:29My colleague Shibimol is now joining me on the story.
01:35Shibimol, we are seeing its beef which has once again become a big bone of contention in the state of Kerala.
01:41There are protests taking place over the ban over beef in a canteen.
01:59So, BESI, which is the Bank Employee Federation of India, their organization was actually protesting against its regional manager after the allegations that the regional manager has been mentally harassing some of its employees.
02:15So, the initial protest was planned against it.
02:17But later, some of the officers who are not part of the organization, BESI, had informed the office bearers that, you know, this man has asked us not to eat beef, not to consume beef inside the office.
02:28As well as, he has also asked the canteen staff not to, you know, serve beef in the canteen.
02:33And that's why we decided to protest against it because as per our constitution, food is our choice.
02:37We have the right to make our choices.
02:39India is a diverse country with people from different communities having different kinds of food.
02:45So, it's a specific choice.
02:46There's no particular, you know, thing selling in the constitution that, you know, this should not be eaten or this should be eaten.
02:52So, nobody's forcing anybody to have anything.
02:55But if you're forcing us and telling us not to eat this, then we will eat and protest is what the Employee Federation, the Bank Employee Federation of India said.
03:04They organized this event outside the regional office against the regional manager.
03:09They said that after this, they tried talking to the manager to sort out these issues because it's not just about the beef ban,
03:14but also about other complaints raised by the employees against the regional manager saying that there's been multiple incidents where he tried to mentally harass these employees.
03:23So, the discussions are ongoing, but what the officers and the employees are saying is that this is our mark of protest
03:29when somebody is telling us what to eat and what not to eat because ultimately it's our freedom of choice.
