00:00I wanted to ask you first of all about a vote at the UN Security Council, a resolution they'll be voting on,
00:05could end what's been more than four decades of UNIFIL operations in southern Lebanon.
00:10And I want to ask, in your opinion, should UNIFIL remain in southern Lebanon?
00:15Well, UNIFIL was constituting like a buffer zone between Lebanon and Israel.
00:22However, unfortunately, I mean, UNIFIL was not playing the role that has been, you know, for it.
00:32Hezbollah was developing an infrastructure underground.
00:39And, you know, after 2006 war, UNIFIL was supposed to play a much more advanced role
00:48in dismantling the whole South Litani area from any armed groups.
00:56However, Hezbollah kept, you know, developing his underground infrastructure,
01:02and we saw the result of it during the last war.
01:07So either UNIFIL would play a major role in applying totally 1701,
01:13or, as we see now, the U.S. and Israel was, you know,
01:18they have a different position than the Lebanese state,
01:22and they wanted UNIFIL to end its mission.
