Indiana Jones: Great Circle is packed with stories that wash you with the rush of stepping into one of the classic films, and with puzzle-solving set pieces and exploration, they have made an attempt to unleash the nostalgia millions of players hold dear.

The game's adherence to a first-person perspective is noticeable. That alone may inconvenience players who are accustomed to a more visually dramatic third-person view, but for me, it offers a deeper character embodiment. It isn't about watching Indy do his thing because it's about being Indy. As brawlers in Yakuza encumber you with every punch thrown, Great Circle's design opts to give you Indy's perspective, urging you to view the world directly. There's a fumbled, almost scrappy elegance to the movement on screen—climbing, grappling, artifact manipulation—that I really admire. It's not sleek or gamified. It's lived-in.

The trailer starts out on a gentle note: disorderly desks, shimmering lights, and filled with maps marked with some convoluted coordinates. We see Indy—designed after the youthful Harrison Ford but voiced by Troy Baker—doesn't return as a caricature of pulp adventure but rather as a driven yet weary man trapped in a life story too enormous for one lifetime. That pulled my interest right away. Indy appears to be entwined in something analogous. He animates with some form of weight. You notice it in his eyes: this isn't just another tomb to rob, another relic to rescue. It's a link in something that is far beyond him.

The "Great Circle" mentioned in the title serves a purpose greater than just being a catchy McGuffin. With confirmation from several sources, it delineates a real-world alignment of ancient sites throughout the globe, which the game uses as its backbone. You will walk along a path grounded in history that leads you from the Vatican's shadowy archives to the windswept Himalayan ruins and even the blistering deserts of Egypt. Every single one of these locations is reproduced with awe-inspiring detail that mirrors the almost obsessive attention to locality found in other top-rated games. It is impossible to neglect the setting, which exudes a palpable feeling of historical weight. You are not on a level; you are inside a moment.
