Elqui is a narrow valley stretching 400 kilometres from the Pacific Ocean to the Andes Mountains in the east. Nestled between the valley of El Molle is Casa Molle, a locally owned boutique hotel that camouflages itself within its surroundings. Its 24 suites sit inside traditional Chilean huts made of adobe, a mixture of mud and straw. Within the property, at every corner, pathway and courtyard, are 30 different kinds of cacti, some tall enough to dwarf anyone standing underneath.Further north in the Atacama, the vast arid desserts offer landscapes that mimic Mars. Here are some of places you can visit and places you can stay at in northern Chile.
