00:00Welcome back to The Darren Show. I'm having a little bubbly here.
00:05Blackberry!
00:09That was a little something for the KISS fans out there.
00:12If you know, you know.
00:15Blackberry!
00:16I just misappropriated one of their songs.
00:20Alright, we have a special treat today.
00:22I normally do albums, but I saw this DVD.
00:27You can see it on YouTube.
00:28YouTube Live 360 at the Rose Bowl.
00:40This is two and a half hours of YouTube in the round.
00:48The intro is David Bowie, obviously.
00:51So they filmed this concert, Pasadena, October 25th, 2009.
01:02It was streamed live on YouTube's YouTube channel, which was the first time a concert had ever streamed live on YouTube.
01:08Over 10 million viewers streamed the concert, making it the largest streaming event in YouTube's history.
01:17So the U2 360 tour was a worldwide concert tour by the Irish band U2.
01:24Launched in support of their No Line on the Horizon album, tour designed by Willie Williams, who has worked with U2 on every tour since 1982.
01:36Every tour.
01:36Mark Fisher was the architect.
01:38The tour featured a 360 degree configuration, the stage being closer to the center of the stadium's field than usual.
01:47Williams had been toying with the ideas for a 360 degree stadium stage for U2 for a number of years and presented sketches of this four-legged design to the band near the end of the Vertigo Tour in 2006.
02:03The inspiration for the spaceship on four-legged design, the claw, came from the landmark theme building at Los Angeles International Airport.
02:14And if you Google a picture of that, or maybe I'll put it right up here.
02:25Now U2 takes the stage.
02:26This show's attendance was 97,000 people, breaking the U.S. record for a single concert attendance for one headline act, a mark which U2 had previously held anyway.
02:45This DVD was released in June of 2010 in the United States, June 7th in the United Kingdom.
02:55I love the idea of the 360, the bands in the middle, and you can see them no matter where you are, not a really bad seat in the house.
03:05Plus, they can go around and there's so much more floor, people that can come right up and be there.
03:12The DVD shows the guys walking up on stage, and then we've got an extended shot of Larry playing the drums.
03:20And they're going to start out with this song, Breathe.
03:28I've got a dog here with me.
03:31This is Frankie.
03:32Frankie wants to say hi to everybody out there in U2 land.
03:36Frankie watched a little U2 at the Rose Bowl concert with me, and he said,
03:41We've got to do a review of that, because it was so good.
03:46So they come out.
03:48Crowd goes wild.
03:52You've got Breathe.
03:55You go into Get On Your Boots.
03:58So on an album review, I like to go through every song, sometimes even talk about the lyrics or whatever.
04:04I'm just not going to do that here.
04:05I'll give you the track listing, some of the highlights, Get On Your Boots.
04:11After Breathe, they go right in to Get On Your Boots.
04:15Edge is playing a Fender Telecaster.
04:18Blonde.
04:20Bono dress.
04:23All in black.
04:24Black leather jacket.
04:26From here, we go into Magnificent.
04:28Okay, since they are broadcasting this live around the world, he's saying hello to everybody.
04:38The track list on this DVD.
04:42Get On Your Boots.
04:44Magnificent.
04:46Mysterious Ways.
04:47Beautiful Day.
04:48I still haven't found what I'm looking for.
04:50Stuck in a moment you can't get out of.
04:53No line on the horizon.
04:55Elevation.
04:56In a little while.
04:57Unknown Caller.
05:00Until the end of the world.
05:02The Unforgettable Fire.
05:05City of Blinding Lights.
05:07Vertigo.
05:08I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight.
05:11Sunday Bloody Sunday.
05:14MLK.
05:15That turns into Walk On.
05:18One.
05:19Where the Streets Have No Name.
05:21Ultraviolet Light My Way.
05:23With or Without You.
05:25A Moment of Surrender.
05:26Can you believe that?
05:27That's just a phenomenal scent list.
05:31I was born.
05:33I was born.
05:35I was born.
05:38To be with you.
05:41In the space and time.
05:44Magnificent.
05:44I love.
05:46Mysterious Ways.
05:47You two people know that this is a song special to Edge because he met his wife when she was performing with them as a dancer for the Mysterious Ways song she came out as a belly dancer.
06:07Edge Marys.
06:07Everything is.
06:08Edge Maryser.
06:11Beautiful Day.
06:13Perfect stuff.
06:15Perfect stuff.
06:17One flashing up in there.
06:21I probably say this on every video about a song, but this is one of my top 10, all time.
06:35And this DVD, Rose Bowl Live 360, top 10 concert films for me. Maybe top 5.
06:44It's a show I wish I would have been able to go to, and probably you do too, but I love
06:52that we have the DVD and even the YouTube video.
06:58We wind down with Where the Streets Have No Name, Ultraviolet, With or Without You, Moment
07:06of Surrender, Where the Streets is so beautiful.
07:11I did a review of Akchung Baby, and as I pointed out on Akchung Baby, this is probably my favorite
07:19song besides one on the album Akchung Baby.
07:24This is Ultraviolet, Light My Way.
07:29I love the way this smooth and then here comes the guitar is going to come in edge.
07:34Not to mention the drums.
07:46Oh sugar.
07:46So, in my opinion, this is the best stage set up ever, and I would love for them to
08:05just do it every time.
08:06Frankie says hi again.
08:07Frankie says bye.
08:10Frankie likes being on TV.
08:11So, we're going to With or Without You.
08:17If you can see this video, check it out.
08:18It's great because Bono, ever the showman, he has this spinning microphone.
08:27It looks like a steering wheel, basically, and it's spinning around in front of him, and
08:32it's lit up.
08:33But it's blue neon, and he just grabs it, and you know Bono, very theatrical, and he's
08:41just...
08:42What a phenomenal song this is, and very strong on the Rattlin' Hum movie and album.
08:57Of course, the original on Joshua Tree, Rattlin' Hum, I just can't...
09:06It's my favorite, it's just wonderful.
09:09I had a Rattlin' Hum concert tour poster for a long time up on my wall, until I decided
09:15to paint the purple one.
09:17And then we end this all up two hours later with Moment of Surrender.
09:24Frankie, I don't know if they have...
09:28Frankie, I don't know if they have copyright on dog barking.
09:34What if I get a...
09:35What if I get a strike on this, Frankie?
09:37What if they say, hey, you've got unauthorized copyrighted dog barking?
09:45Let's not bark at people.
09:47Is it a people?
09:49Hey, hey, is it a people?
09:51Is it a people?
09:52We don't need to bark at the people.
09:54No, hey, is it a people?
09:58Look, see, she went to the other side of the street, because you were barking at her.
10:02Alright, well, you did your job, then good boy.
10:07We end the concert with a nice sing-along.
10:10The 97,000 people in attendance and the millions of people around the globe.
10:18Showing the guys walking off the stage, 23 cameras used to shoot this for a concert.
10:28That's crazy.
10:28Amazing show.
10:29Amazing show.
10:30Amazing show.
10:31Amazing show.
10:32Absolutely amazing show.
10:33I highly recommend this.
10:35I don't do this often.
10:36I am a fan, a music fan.
10:38This is 10 out of 10.
10:395 out of 5 on that scale.
10:41It's an A, A+, awesome concert, set list, stage, set, the band, the musicianship.
10:53This is from 2010.
10:55This is from 2010.
10:56They were rocking.
10:57They were hitting it.
10:59You, too, at the Rose Bowl, 360 tour, get the DVD, get it from your library.
11:06You know I love the library.
11:08Get it from the library.
