00:14Have you got what it takes to make it all the way to our final question and join the 1% club?
00:18Anyone has a chance to win because this quiz isn't about how much you know, it's about how your brain really works.
00:23As all our questions are about logic and common sense.
00:26So who will make it to the end and answer a question? Only 1% of the country can get right and win up to £100,000.
00:34Let's play the 1% club!
00:40And hoping to win tonight are 100 players!
00:47So come on, give me a shout if you think you'll do well tonight.
00:50CHEERING
00:52Lady in the back there, what's your name?
00:54Helen. Hello Helen!
00:56Why are you so confident?
00:58Well, because I usually do well when we're at home.
01:00How well?
01:02I usually get to the 1%.
01:04Do you really? Already you're the favourite!
01:06Is anyone waiting at home to find out how well you'll do?
01:10My husband is waiting somewhere in the streets of Manchester.
01:14Have you kicked him out or something?
01:16No, he drove and he wasn't a contestant.
01:18Oh well see, I thought you lived up here but he wasn't allowed in the house.
01:22Well...
01:24What will you do if you win the money?
01:25Buy him a caravan!
01:26No, what will you do if you win the money?
01:28Actually, he wants a caravan.
01:29Does he?
01:30Listen, good luck.
01:31OK, anybody think they'll do badly tonight, give us a chance.
01:34Oh!
01:35A woman who a minute ago cheered because she thought she was going to do well.
01:38What's your name?
01:39Charlotte.
01:40Hello Charlotte.
01:41Hi.
01:42Why are you so negative about your chances?
01:43The only reason I've come on is to meet you.
01:44Oh, well we've done that now, off you go.
01:46OK.
01:47Imagine if your light just went to blue now.
01:50Are you not a very competitive person?
01:52Oh I am.
01:53Oh you are?
01:54I'm actually a serial competitor.
01:55In what respect?
01:56So I'll enter like 30 competitions a day.
01:58A day?
01:59Yeah.
02:00OK.
02:01Are these skill competitions or look competitions?
02:03Absolutely no skill required whatsoever.
02:05Right, so something like this you might struggle with, is that what you're saying?
02:07Yeah.
02:08OK, well listen, good luck.
02:09Now, don't forget you can play along at home if you want, all you have to do is download
02:12the app.
02:13OK, before we ask our first question, here's a reminder of how the show works.
02:16We asked a cross-section of people from all over Britain a list of our unique questions.
02:20Based on their answers, we can tell statistically what percentage of the country should get each
02:25one right.
02:26Tonight I'll be asking those exact questions to our 100 contestants, beginning with the
02:31easier one that 90% of Britain got right, and ending with the most challenging question
02:35that only 1% of the great British public answered correctly.
02:38At the start of the show, every contestant is given a £1,000 stake.
02:43If they get any question wrong, they are out of the game, and the £1,000 is transferred
02:47to the 1% prize pot.
02:50Whoever gets the furthest in the quiz wins £10,000, and the chance to answer the final
02:561% question to win everything in the prize pot, and take home up to £100,000.
03:03Right, let's get on with it, it's time for our first question.
03:11So, as ever, this is one that 90% of our survey got right.
03:15Let's see how you do.
03:17Which of these options completes the bottom picture?
03:21Your time starts now.
03:27I bet he works at the Vegan Bicycle Collective.
03:30LAUGHTER
03:41OK, your time is up.
03:47Let's see whose lights stay on and are still in the game, and how many people are out.
04:06Right, we lost four people though, let's have a look at the answer.
04:08It is B.
04:11In the bottom picture, you can see that the person has their glasses hanging on their shirt,
04:14so they can't have them on their face at the same time.
04:17We've lost Helen Bladen.
04:19Where are you, Helen?
04:20Oh, no!
04:22LAUGHTER
04:23You are kidding me!
04:24Hang on, hang on, didn't you just tell me you usually get to the 1% question?
04:28I might have been lying.
04:30You might have been lying.
04:32What happened?
04:33I didn't notice the glasses.
04:35I suppose it's that big, loud, flowery shirt that doesn't have.
04:38It is.
04:39Blame your shirt.
04:40I thought you'd be trained in that.
04:42LAUGHTER
04:43Well...
04:44And hubby is definitely not getting a caravan.
04:47Oh, no.
04:48I've got to admit, that sentence is the least rock and roll thing I've ever said.
04:51LAUGHTER
04:52Never mind.
04:53So there are 96 people still left in the game, and the £1,000 of everyone who got the question
04:58wrong goes into the prize pot.
04:59Let's see what that's done to the total.
05:01APPLAUSE
05:03£4,000.
05:04APPLAUSE
05:06OK, it's time for the 80% question.
05:10So this is a question that 80% of the people we asked managed to get right.
05:15Let's see how you get on with this one.
05:19Which of these is the odd one out when there is more than one?
05:22Your time starts now.
05:27Remember, it's multiple choice, so there's more than one way to look like an idiot.
05:31LAUGHTER
05:32OK, your time is up. Let's see who got it right.
05:50MUSIC
06:10So, we lost 13 people. Let's have a look at the answer.
06:13B, C and D have plurals that end in S's, hats, cars and chairs.
06:18The plural of mouse is mice.
06:20Someone who got it wrong is Maria Nisar.
06:22What happened, Maria?
06:24I obviously just didn't read it properly and the pressure got to me.
06:27That's fine. It's you, it's you.
06:28It's my fault. I get it.
06:30It's nothing to do with your logic, it's my fault.
06:32LAUGHTER
06:33Are you a competitive person? I'm...
06:35I'm... Yeah, I'm inherently competitive.
06:37Are you? How does it show?
06:38Mostly against my husband, doesn't he, who's here today.
06:40Oh, really? Where's husband?
06:42That'll be me.
06:43Sorry, what's your name, sir?
06:44Uzi.
06:45Uzi, you got it right, didn't you?
06:46You're damn right I did.
06:47LAUGHTER
06:48He's never going to let this go now.
06:50That's the least sympathetic response we've ever had from a married couple.
06:54How did you feel when she turned blue like that, be honest?
06:57Oh, I was buzzing.
06:58LAUGHTER
06:59This is incredible. Proper competitiveness.
07:02OK, well, listen, good luck, Uzi.
07:05We've also lost Jessica Sims.
07:06Where are you, Jessica?
07:07I thought it was a rat.
07:08You thought it was a rat, so you thought...
07:10Everything seemed to be plural, so I just...
07:13Never mind.
07:14Yeah.
07:15What do you do, Jessica?
07:16Oh, I used to be a puppet lady.
07:18Did you?
07:19What kind of puppets?
07:20Oh, hand puppets, basically.
07:22Yeah?
07:23I kind of had two jobs at the same time.
07:25Some people would tell you I was the puppet lady,
07:27and other people would tell you it's that bitch from the job centre.
07:30LAUGHTER
07:34Please tell me that you combined them sometimes.
07:36LAUGHTER
07:37Yeah.
07:38Are you looking for a job?
07:39Wait a minute.
07:40Ooh, there aren't any.
07:41LAUGHTER
07:43Oh, well, listen, unlucky for going out.
07:45Right, let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
07:50£17,000.
07:51Right, we're on to the 70% question.
07:56Let's take a look.
07:58What four-letter word logically fills the gap?
08:03Your time starts now.
08:04OK, your timer's up.
08:05Let's see if we got it right.
08:06MUSIC PLAYS
08:07OK, your timer's up.
08:08Let's see if we got it right.
08:09MUSIC PLAYS
08:10MUSIC PLAYS
08:12OK, your timer's up.
08:13Let's see if we got it right.
08:14MUSIC PLAYS
08:15MUSIC PLAYS
08:28OK, your timer's up.
08:29Let's see if we got it right.
08:30MUSIC PLAYS
08:31Right, we lost no-one. Let's have a look at the answer.
08:45It's Liv. All the words in uppercase are anagrams of each other.
08:48Liv is the only other word that uses the same letters and fits the gap.
08:51I don't know why I explained it. You all got it right.
08:54Right, who got it right?
08:55Dopeika Sharma. Dopeika.
08:57Well done. How quickly did you get that?
09:00Uh, pretty quick, I think, yeah.
09:02Yeah, well done. What do you do, Dopeika?
09:06Dopeika, yeah. Everyone calls me Dips, it's easier.
09:09You can't call me Dips. Yeah, my patients do.
09:12Your patients call you Dips? Yeah, I'm a gynaecologist.
09:15My...
09:16LAUGHTER
09:17I'm sorry, you're a gynaecologist and your name is Dip.
09:21I mean, my phrase in life is,
09:24you are the boss of your own vagina. It's just true.
09:27Whoa, sorry, can you just rewind that?
09:29I think you did a catchphrase there that I wasn't expecting.
09:32LAUGHTER
09:33You really say that to people, to the...
09:35I was going to say the customers, they're probably not called customers,
09:37let's call them patients.
09:38The ladies, yeah, no, just cos sometimes if...
09:41They want to feel in control of what's happening and I'm like...
09:44Yeah.
09:44...for any point you want me to stop, you tell me to stop,
09:46you're the boss of your vagina.
09:47It makes everyone else in the room cringe,
09:49but they'll have a giggle, they'll relax.
09:51And it helps settle people down.
09:52Yeah.
09:53Yeah, well, it's certainly caused an atmosphere here.
09:55Is it not a good life order, ladies?
09:57There we go.
09:59APPLAUSE
10:00OK, we're going to be talking to you a bit more
10:03to see if you've got any more catchphrases.
10:05LAUGHTER
10:06Right, let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
10:08APPLAUSE
10:09Nothing, cos you've all got it right, of course.
10:11APPLAUSE
10:12£17,000.
10:13APPLAUSE
10:14So, here we go, it's time for the 60% question.
10:17Let's take a look at it.
10:23Asha's local set of traffic lights
10:25has the following sequence on repeat.
10:27Red for nine seconds, red and amber for two seconds,
10:30green for ten seconds and amber for three seconds.
10:34Which colour light is on for the longest amount of time
10:37within the sequence?
10:39OK, your time starts now.
10:47OK, let's see if you've got it right.
11:14OK, we've lost six of you, let's have a look at the answer.
11:32It is red.
11:35In every sequence, red is on for 11 seconds,
11:37amber is only on for five and green for ten.
11:39We've lost Dan Titley.
11:41Where are you, Dan? I'm here.
11:42Great name. Thanks.
11:44I love the name Titley.
11:45Yeah. That's what people say to me.
11:46You're always in charge of your own Titley.
11:47Yeah, exactly.
11:48Um...
11:50Tell me, er...
11:51This is just going to go on all night, isn't it?
11:53I'm so sorry.
11:54What do you do, Mr Titley?
11:56Er, I'm a HEV driver.
11:57Are you? I used to be a coach driver, though.
11:59Hang on, you're a driver and you got this one wrong?
12:00Yeah, I know.
12:01LAUGHTER
12:02I don't care. I just got through them anyway.
12:04Yeah.
12:05Never there counted.
12:06Er, what have you done with the money, Dan?
12:08Spentied.
12:09LAUGHTER
12:14Right, let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
12:17We're on 23,000 pounds.
12:21Right, it's time for a quick break.
12:23We've lost 23 people here already.
12:25I hope you're doing OK at home.
12:26And don't forget, you can play along on the app.
12:28After the break, we'll be moving closer to seeing if anyone here
12:31can answer the 1% question. See you in a bit.
12:33CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
12:34WELCOME BACK TO THE 1% CLUB.
12:35We started off with 100 people and now we're down to 77.
12:50The person who does best here tonight could be going home
12:53with up to £100,000.
12:55CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
12:56So, words on to everyone who's still in the game
12:59and from now on, we are going to give you the option
13:01to pay for a pass to the next question.
13:03And if you do, your £1,000 will be transferred to the prize pot.
13:06However, if you go as far as the 30% question without using your pass,
13:10you'll get the chance to take your £1,000 and leave the game.
13:13Right, it is time for the 50% question.
13:20Let's take a look at it.
13:22The nine-letter name of which insect is written below
13:25with its letters in alphabetical order?
13:29OK, your 30 seconds starts now.
13:34To win this game, you need a sharp lateral mind.
13:36To host it, you need an autocue.
13:38LAUGHTER
13:43Don't forget that pass.
14:01OK, your time is up.
14:02Let's see you've got it right.
14:04MUSIC
14:19Right, we lost two of you, though.
14:20Let's have a look at the answer.
14:23There it is, Bumblebee.
14:24Now, 11 of you didn't know the answer to this
14:27and you used your pass, including Todd Andrews.
14:29Oh. Did you not see that at all?
14:31No. Um, that's why I pressed pass.
14:34Um...
14:35LAUGHTER
14:36What do you do, Todd?
14:38I'm a finance director.
14:39Are you?
14:40What do you do in your spare time?
14:41I have tortoise, pet tortoise.
14:43I'm really into tortoise facts and know everything about tortoises.
14:46Do you?
14:47I have one called Betty.
14:48She fits in upon my hands.
14:50She's three and a half years old now.
14:52How long do they live for?
14:54Up to 80 to 100 years.
14:56Wow.
14:57But you can't tell the sex of them until they're five years old.
15:01Why is that?
15:02You just can't...
15:04..need a gynaecologist to look at it.
15:05You can't, it's because they go inside the shell.
15:06Yeah.
15:07And they're in charge of their own shell.
15:08They can do what they like.
15:09LAUGHTER
15:11Yeah. Yeah.
15:12Oh, well, you're still in, Todd. Well done.
15:14Let's see what that's done to the prize pot.

16:07OK, let's see if you've got it right.
16:09Oh, bit of carnage.
16:31We've lost 16 people. Let's have a look at the answer.
16:34It's three. It's N, E and C.
16:38Someone who got that wrong is...
16:40Oh, no. Here we go.
16:41You're happy, aren't you? Be honest.
16:43LAUGHTER
16:44Uzzie, I want an honest answer.
16:47How are you feeling?
16:49I just want to laugh, but I also feel bad.
16:53I have to go home with him at the end of the day, so...
16:56LAUGHTER
16:57Well, that's really doing your confidence a lot of good, isn't it?
16:59Uh, never mind, Uzzie, but you have proven that you got further than her,
17:03if that's worth anything.
17:04That's what I came for.
17:06LAUGHTER
17:08Right, let's see what that's done to the prize pot.

19:28£60,000.
19:30Well, it's getting tricky, let's move on to the 35% question.
19:36Here it is.
19:39Five siblings' birthdays all fall in the same month.
19:42Bob's is six days after Anna's.
19:44Kat's is seven days after Bob's.
19:46Dan's is eight days after Kat's.
19:48And Eric's is nine days after Dan's.
19:50In which month were they all born?
19:52OK, your time starts now.
19:54¶¶
19:59¶¶
20:04¶¶
20:06OK, your time is up.
20:26Let's see you've got it right and how many people are out.
20:36Right, we lost six people, let's have a look at the answer.
20:50It's D, August.
20:51The month needs to be 31 days long and August is the only option with 31 days.
20:57We've lost Kirsty Sobey.
20:58Yeah.
20:59Oh, Kirsty.
21:00How did you think you were going to do, Kirsty?
21:01I didn't think I was going to do that well, actually, because I'm thick as mints.
21:04I am.
21:06What do you do, Kirsty?
21:07I'm a hairdresser.
21:08Are you?
21:09And what made you apply?
21:10Well, I wanted to put the Geordies on the map, but that wasn't going to happen, was it?
21:14I think Newcastle is already on a map, but, you know.
21:17Logically, for myself.
21:19Never mind.
21:20Well, listen, unlucky, I mean, you did well to get this, so it's not easy getting to the

21:57public, and we've been whittling down the contestants here tonight, and they're left with 51 people
22:01with their lights still on.
22:02As a reward, any contestant who hasn't played their pass and still has the £1,000 now has
22:06a choice.
22:07Play on for the big money in the prize pot, or you can take your £1,000 and leave the

22:15So, those of you with your lights on, you can take your money and leave the show if you want
22:20to.
22:21Please make your decision right now.

23:11And remember, if you've still got your £1,000, you can pay for a pass to the next question if you don't know the answer.
23:17It is time for the 30% question.
23:22Let's take a look.
23:25What two well-known eight-letter words are made up when the following are correctly paired up?
23:29And your 30 seconds starts now.
23:32I believe in you.
23:35But then again, I also believe that I could cure my bad back with crystal healing.

24:09Somebody got it right. It's Paula Tiernan. Hello.
24:10Hello.
24:11Still got your pass?
24:12Yes, I have.
24:13Er, Paula, what will you do if you win the money?
24:14Right, well, I'd pack in work early and I'd really want to go backpacking across Thailand.
24:16However, my husband won't do it because he doesn't really want to fly that far.
24:19So I'm looking for somebody who's on this show to actually come back to the show.
24:20I'll do it.
24:21I'll do it.
24:22I'll do it.
24:23I'll do it.

25:00Anybody want to go to Thailand?
25:02Any way we go for there?
25:04The people that are out, I'll go because I have plans to go to Thailand and it's all gone wrong.

32:55Whoever does the best here tonight will win £10,000.
32:58But if they're feeling brave, they can risk their £10,000 by trying to answer the 1% question.
33:03Get it right and they will win everything in the prize pot, which is currently sitting at...
33:09£81,000.
33:11CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
33:14Now, that is quite a low figure at this stage because there is quite a lot of you left in.
33:20In fact, there are 27 players left.

33:25The bad news is there might be about 15 of you in the final.

34:30Let's see who got it right.
34:52Right, we lost ten people there. Let's have a look at the answer.
34:55It's 12.
34:56The number in the roof is revealed by adding the numbers in the two windows together
35:00and taking away the number on the door.
35:02So, 5 plus 12 equals 17, and 17 minus 5 is 12.
35:06So, as well as ten people not knowing that, ten people use their pass,
35:10including Govind Cobander.
35:12Hello. Hello, Govind. How are you?
35:14I'm all right. Up till now, and then with that one,
35:17there's just too many numbers on screen.
35:19What will you do if you win the money?
35:21So, I play in a few orchestras, and one of them is about to turn 30 next year.
35:25OK. It's a London Gay Symphony Orchestra,
35:27and we probably won't go on a massive tour.
35:29So, the money will go towards that?
35:31Some of it will go towards that, yeah, absolutely.
35:33Good stuff. All right, well, good luck, Govind.
35:35Thank you. Tony Jenner, you got it right.
35:36Hello, Tony. Hi.
35:38Have you still got your pass, Tony?
35:39No, mine went a couple of goes ago.
35:41Oh, OK. And what are you going to do with the money?
35:43Profiteroles. OK.
35:46I had a major operation a few years ago.
35:49To remove them?
35:51You're not thinking of grapes or hemorrhoids, are you?
35:54No, I don't.
35:55Is that what you're calling them nowadays? Profiteroles?
35:58Go on.
35:59For some reason, it turned me gluten intolerant.
36:03OK. There must be gluten-free perfiteroles out there.
36:05There are, but I haven't found any I like.
36:07Oh, OK, so you'll invest the money in inventing
36:09a gluten-free perfiterole.
36:11That and other stuff, yeah.
36:13Well, listen, good luck you're still with us.
36:15David Cain, where are you, David?

36:41Let's say there's a koala involved.
36:42Oh, yes.
36:43I remember that.
36:44Because I'm always thinking it would be softer to use the koala.
36:47OK, well, listen, you're still with us, David.
36:49Well done.
36:50Right, let's see what that's done to the prize pot.
