00:00Over the course of six hours, the prosecution took the jury through the last three weeks of evidence going one by one through each of the three charges.
00:11Prosecutor Jason Galacci emphasized what the prosecution say was Mr. Wright's motive for allegedly trying to interfere with the crash investigation.
00:21They claim Mr. Wright feared investigators would find out about a practice whereby flying hours on choppers owned and operated by Mr. Wright's company Helibrook were being underreported to avoid costly maintenance checks and repairs.
00:36This included for the chopper which crashed in February 2022, which expert evidence concluded was highly likely to have exceeded the maximum flying hour threshold, which would have required the aircraft to be retired or to receive extensive maintenance work.
00:52Mr. Galacci told the jury Mr. Wright's alleged attempts to avoid blame began with his decision to visit the scene of the crash, where it's alleged he checked the wreckage of the crash chopper to see whether the flight meter was connected correctly.
01:05The prosecution describing this as clinical and premeditated behavior.
01:10Mr. Galacci urged the jury to disregard a suggestion by the defense that Mr. Wright was acting to protect the pilot.
01:18He also urged the jury to set aside evidence given by two of Mr. Wright's friends earlier in the trial, saying they lied to the court in order to protect the accused.
