00:00Main Street, USA, and every one of those buildings is five-eighths real size.
00:06Welcome to Ms. Mojo.
00:07And today, we're counting down our picks for some of the wildest myths about Disney theme parks
00:12and whether they're fact or fiction.
00:14Nobody ever gets the chance to see it. It's only a special field.
00:19Number 5, Fake.
00:21Disney's turkey legs are made out of emu.
00:24What are you talking about?
00:24Wait, the big turkey legs that people eat?
00:26They're emu legs.
00:27No, they're not.
00:28Ah, shocker, right?
00:31From Dole Whips to Mickey-shaped pretzels,
00:34Disney has become well-known for the delicious food items in their parks.
00:38One of the most popular offerings is their jumbo turkey legs,
00:41allowing guests to channel their inner caveman.
00:44The process in producing our turkey legs is really a secret.
00:48Ooh, a juicy secret?
00:50Juicy.
00:51Well, give us a hint then.
00:52There's a lot of roasting and special spices involved.
00:56And of course, a little pixie does doesn't hurt.
00:57Their massive size led some, even actor Zachary Levi,
01:01to speculate that they're made of emu meat.
01:03Not only is it illegal to sell mislabeled food,
01:07but experts say that the price of emu would be too costly for Disney to sell their reported
01:11two million turkey legs a year.
01:13They're so big because the meat is from male turkeys, or toms, which are larger than females.
01:18This rumor has been debunked more than once,
01:21so guests can rest assured that they are, in fact, eating turkey.
01:25I don't care if the turkey says the dog is a turkey!
01:29The dog is not the turkey!
01:30The turkey's the turkey!
01:32You turkey!
01:32Come on, fuck it!
01:33Number 5.
01:34True.
01:35Fake flags on Main Street USA.
01:38Making it the happiest street in the world.
01:41So let's go there now and join the crowds for Fantasy on Parade.
01:44If you had the pleasure of strolling down Main Street USA at Disneyland in California
01:49or Disney World's Magic Kingdom Park in Florida,
01:52you might have noticed some flags seem off.
01:55While it's true that the parks display prop flags missing some stars and stripes,
01:59it's not to avoid following the United States flag code, as some believe.
02:03I want me right down the middle of Main Street USA.
02:09It's the heart of America, the heartbeat of a holiday.
02:14The code doesn't require the park to lower or take down any American flags.
02:20It's just a guideline.
02:21And not adhering to it doesn't result in a penalty.
02:24Walt Disney based Main Street USA on his hometown of Marceline, Missouri,
02:28and wanted it to have turn-of-the-20th-century style,
02:32meaning an American flag with fewer than 50 stars is era-accurate.
02:36You find yourself in a bygone time, another world.
02:40The clock has turned back a half a century,
02:43and you're in the main square of a small American town, the year 1900.
02:50Number four, fake.
02:52No one has ever died at a Disney park.
02:55He died doing what he loved.
02:56People who knew Austin Wunenberg say being a driver for Disney's monorail was his dream job.
03:01At Disney parks, cast members often go out of their way to make sure guests have a magical experience.
03:07But that doesn't mean anything can ever go wrong.
03:10It's been rumored that Disney has a policy that no one is allowed to be pronounced dead on property
03:15to protect the company's image.
03:17Decades of reported fatalities prove otherwise.
03:21Unfortunately, there have been several tragedies in and around Disney parks,
03:24including a 1981 homicide, a 2009 monorail crash, and a 2016 alligator attack.
03:32The report by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is heart-wrenching.
03:38It clearly states that Matt Graves did everything he could
03:41to try to rescue his son Lane from the clutches of an attacking alligator.
03:45As for their rumored no-death policy,
03:47it likely stems from how the company handles incidents in the press.
03:51In 2023, Disney infamously attempted to use Disney Plus terms and conditions
03:56to keep a wrongful death lawsuit out of court, though later backtracked.
04:00The waiter guaranteed certain foods could be made allergen-free and confirmed several more times.
04:06She died soon after from anaphylactis due to elevated levels of dairy and nuts in her system.
04:12Number four, true, mostly.
04:14Disneyland's Matterhorn has a basketball court.
04:17You see, there is a common Disney legend that one of Disneyland's most popular attractions
04:22contains a secret basketball court.
04:24Yeah, there is.
04:26The top of the Matterhorn is supposed to have a basketball court.
04:28The idea of any Disney attraction containing a secret basketball court inside its walls is far-fetched.
04:35That doesn't stop people from believing that Disneyland's Matterhorn Bob Sleds has one.
04:39And it happens to be true.
04:41To give guests an authentic experience,
04:43Walt Disney employed professional climbers, and sometimes Mickey Mouse himself,
04:48to periodically scale the 147-foot-tall mountain.
04:52Climbing it has become a daily event.
05:00The climbers and Matterhorn ride operators used the open space at the top as a break area where they set up a hoop.
05:06While not a full, state-of-the-art basketball court,
05:10they did create a makeshift half-court with just enough room to shoot hoops in their downtime.
05:15We knew the rumor about the basketball court.
05:17And as we're coming down the stairs, we all stopped.
05:20And at the same time, as we turned around, there is a basketball hoop up there.
05:24Number three, fake.
05:25Disney World sits under a dome to prevent bad weather.
05:28But most important, this entire 50 acres of city streets and buildings will be completely enclosed.
05:37Florida, a.k.a. the Sunshine State, is known for its warm year-round climate,
05:42making it a perfect place for Disney parks.
05:44However, any Florida resident will tell you that the state gets plenty of bad weather.
05:49Rain pouring down at Disney World.
05:52This was the scene at Hollywood Studios tonight, guests running for cover.
05:56So the myth about a dome over Walt Disney World Resort is irrefutably false.
06:01The parks will close down when storms pose a risk to the safety of guests and cast members,
06:06especially during hurricane season.
06:08The rumor was born out of Walt's dream of creating a futuristic city called
06:11Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, or EPCOT,
06:15which included an enclosure for better weather conditions.
06:18In this climate-controlled environment,
06:21shoppers and theater-goers and people just out for a stroll
06:24will enjoy ideal weather conditions,
06:28protected day and night from rain, heat and cold, and humidity.
06:34Disney knows how to prepare for bad weather.
06:36Although, Magic Kingdom's Cinderella Castle cannot be moved or disassembled during storms, as rumored.
06:43Number three, true.
06:44The Beatles officially broke up at the Polynesian Resort.
06:47Disney World, I was there on the most crowded day of the year around Christmas or something.
06:53And people didn't bother me because I was just one in a million people.
06:57The breakup of the Beatles was big news in the 1970s,
07:00but not everyone knows how it's connected to Disney.
07:03After years of tension among the group,
07:05the Fab Four finally called it quits in December 1974.
07:09However, they weren't all together for the signing of the dissolution papers.
07:13So the collaboration thing stopped with the end of the Beatles,
07:17which was about 10 years before he died.
07:20So I'd got used to having lost that.
07:23Ringo Starr had already added his signature,
07:26while George Harrison and Paul McCartney signed in New York.
07:29It's been rumored that John Lennon was a no-show in New York City,
07:32and it's true.
07:33He was on holiday in Florida with his oldest son Julian
07:36and then-girlfriend-slash-assistant May Pang,
07:39where they stayed at Disney World's Polynesian Resort.
07:41Here we are.
07:42This is like John ready to sign the dissolution papers of the Beatles back in the big day.
07:48And this is-we were on our vacation with Julian, his oldest son,
07:54and we were down at Disney World at the Polynesian Resort and the two lawyers.
07:58On December 29th, a lawyer brought Lennon the agreement to sign at his hotel,
08:03which officially ended the band.
08:05Number two, fake, mostly.
08:08Toy Story characters drop when guests yell, Andy's coming.
08:11There was a time in Disney parks when shouting Andy's coming in Toy Story Land
08:21would make the characters stop and drop to the ground like actual objects.
08:25It was fun for a while.
08:27But then a meme went viral in 2013, prompting guests to test it out themselves.
08:32After it became overwhelmingly frequent,
08:34Disney changed their stance on the trend, citing safety concerns.
08:38Who's named Andy?
08:40Everybody would turn around.
08:41That didn't help, did it?
08:42However, guests can get a similar experience at the Roundup Rodeo restaurant.
08:47So while it was technically true at one time, it's since been discouraged.
08:52See, this is why we can't have nice things.
08:54We need a staff meeting. Everyone, a staff meeting?
08:57Oh, not again.
08:58Oh, come on.
08:59Number two, true.
09:01Human remains scattered in the parks.
09:03You did something very special with her ashes.
09:07Yes, I did.
09:09Probably without permission.
09:10No one should do this.
09:12Yeah.
09:12After someone passes, it's common for their family to honor their last wishes,
09:17including where they want their ashes spread.
09:19However, people related to diehard Disney fans have been illegally sneaking human remains
09:24into the parks for years.
09:25They often scatter ashes around the foliage and or on rides like Haunted Mansion, Pirates
09:31of the Caribbean, and It's a Small World.
09:33We went right to Small World because that's what we've always done.
09:36That was my mom's favorite ride.
09:39When guests are caught, cast members have to shut down the ride and call in a HEPA cleanup
09:43or Code A because it's a health hazard.
09:46Leaving a small piece of a loved one in their favorite place is sweet, but spreading ashes
09:51in Disney parks only leads to their remains being vacuumed and thrown away.
09:54That's no way to honor them.
09:56We have three simple rules.
09:58Arms and legs inside the ride at all times.
10:02Fast pass holders, move to the front.
10:04And three, no dumping of the remains of dead relatives inside the castle.
10:09Number one fake.
10:11Walt Disney was buried in Disneyland.
10:13In fact, the rumor is so persistent that it has sparked another even crazier one,
10:18that the smash hit cartoon Frozen was made specifically so that when people googled
10:22Disney and Frozen, they would no longer get any results about Walt's non-existent scheme
10:27to turn himself into a human ice cube.
10:29On December 15th, 1966, Walter Elias Disney tragically passed away after a battle with lung cancer.
10:36I'd give anything to be there with you, but this seems to be one of those times I'm tied
10:42down here at the studio night and day.
10:43Since then, there has been a long-held myth about what happened to his remains.
10:48Even if you aren't particularly a fan of Disney, chances are you've heard that the
10:52innovator had his body cryogenically frozen and stored in a freezer under Disneyland's
10:57Pirates of the Caribbean ride.
10:58That's right.
10:59Anything's possible in Disneyland.
11:01However, others have speculated that he was actually buried underneath Cinderella's
11:05castle in Florida.
11:07The truth is much less elaborate.
11:08Walt was cremated and his remains were buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California,
11:14where fans often visit and pay their respects.
11:17We are looking into a story that's going around.
11:19It claims the frozen body of Walt Disney will finally be thawed in December with the hope
11:25of bringing him back to life.
11:27This is fiction.

11:44Number 1.
11:45True.
11:46Magic Kingdom has a suite inside Cinderella's castle.
11:49This is pretty cool.
11:55Hey Adam.
11:56Welcome to the Cinderella Castle Suite.
11:57Ever gazed up at the Cinderella castle in Magic Kingdom and wondered what it would be like
12:02to stay the night?
12:03Well, it's possible.
12:04And not only are the views amazing from the window, they tell the story of Cinderella.
12:09Or you could just watch it on the smear that is magically playing the movie.
12:13The 650 square foot space was originally built to be an apartment for Walt Disney, but the
12:18visionary passed away in 1966, five years before construction was completed.
12:23In the past, the unfinished area was used for storage, a call center, a dressing room, and
12:29eventually became a hotel suite in 2006 for Disney's Year of a Million Dreams celebration.
12:34But the coolest feature we do have is probably our jacuzzi tub.
12:38Everyone seems to love that.
12:39You can see on the walls, we do have three mosaics, each are 10,000 tiles a piece.
12:44These days, the 17th century French-inspired suite is an invitation-only experience that
12:50cannot be booked like a regular hotel, though you can win an overnight stay through occasional
12:55contests and charity auctions.
12:57Finally, we can say yes, there is a beautiful Cinderella guest chamber just waiting for our
13:03lucky guest to be able to stay.
13:05What's the wildest Disney park rumor you've ever heard?
13:08Was it true?
13:09Let us know in the comments below.
13:11Are the bones in Pirates of the Caribbean actual human remains?
13:17Ken, what say you?
13:19This one's true and false, Matt.
13:21What?
13:21Oh!
13:22Oh!
13:22Oh!
13:22Oh!
