00:00We know one man is dead and another man is hurt after an overnight shooting here in the heart of downtown Minneapolis.
00:06We do have some video of what that scene looked like earlier, of course, as police were here investigating.
00:11We saw family members out here hugging one another.
00:14It was a very emotional scene here.
00:15Just to kind of give you an idea of where we are, this is right across from the State Theater and the Capitol Grill.
00:21This is the third deadly shooting in about 13, 14 hours that police have responded to in Minneapolis.
00:27This shooting happened at around 2 o'clock this morning along Hennepin Avenue when police say a gunman approached a group of people standing on the sidewalk and shot them at close range.
00:37The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office is now investigating the cause of death for the man who was killed here on site.
00:43The other shooting victim is expected to be okay.
00:46As we mentioned, it has been a very violent night here in Minneapolis.
00:49At 8 o'clock last night, officers responded to a shooting in the city's Whittier neighborhood.
00:54That's where Eat Street is and the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
00:59NPD says one person was killed and another was hurt in a shooting just outside of an apartment building there.
01:04Near 27th and 3rd Avenue South, that's just west of 35W, no arrests have been made in that shooting.
01:11Just about a mile from there, there was another shooting.
01:13This one happened in broad daylight yesterday afternoon.
01:16Dash camera video capturing the shooting where police say a man with a rifle opened fire on a group of people near the corner of 29th and Clinton.
01:24Not far from East Lake Street and 35W, and we know police say the gunman fired 30 rounds, killing one man, hurting six others.
01:33Thankfully, all six of those victims are expected to survive.
01:36Investigators say the shooter left the scene in a car and police are still trying to identify him.
01:42They believe one of the victims was targeted and that was not random.
01:45There have been no arrests in any of these shootings so far, and NPD says it's unclear whether any of these shootings are connected.
01:52In a statement, Chief O'Hara did say in part,
01:54While this level of violence is cause for concern, our resolve to fight for the safety of every person in our community is unwavering.
02:01We will aggressively pursue every lead, but we also need the community's help.
02:06With that being said, of course, if you know anything about any of those shootings that happened yesterday and overnight tonight,
02:12you are asked to contact NPD right away.
