00:00Two families became victims of a house fire in McUncliffe last Friday.
00:06The fire burned through the roofs of two terrace properties,
00:10leaving damage in the upper floors and destroying the contents of one little girl's bedroom.
00:15Authorities were called to the scene at 5pm on Friday the 22nd of August.
00:20Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service believes the blaze was caused accidentally
00:25by a malfunctioning log burner. Residents and pets were evacuated safely and in response to the
00:31tragedy the community came out in force to support those affected. They offered the families places to
00:37stay, free meals, clothes as well as financial support. Marcus Dobson was one of those affected
00:44by the blaze. He thanked the community on behalf of himself and his mum Noreena. He added that the
00:51community has always pulled together in times of crisis and this time has been no different.
00:57He said, we are both extremely grateful and would like to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts.
01:03Amongst the support offer was the town mayor Jeremy Page, who offered to cover the cost of free meals
01:08at a local cafe. The two families now faced the daunting task of insurance claims and rebuilding
01:14their homes.
