National Development Council Minister Liu Chin-ching told Nikkei Asia that chipmaking giant TSMC won't be hit hard by US tariffs, and that 75% of Taiwan's total exports would remain unaffected. Liu also announced he would be leaving his post on Aug. 29, citing health reasons. His departure comes amid a major Cabinet reshuffle.

00:12In an interview with Japanese media outlet Nikkei Asia, NDC Minister Liu Jingqing said
00:17that TSMC's investments in U.S. manufacturing will mostly keep Trump's tariffs at bay.
00:22The company has pledged a US$165 billion investment in its U.S. facilities, which may exempt it
00:29from import duties.
00:31Liu also said that 75% of Taiwan's exports would be unaffected by U.S. tariffs.
00:36Following his interview, Liu announced he is leaving his post at the end of the week, citing
00:41health reasons.
00:42He is one of the Cabinet members stepping down as part of the reshuffle.
