00:00And now in the Middle East where Israel and the Houthis are once again trading fire and this time the battleground is Yemen's capital.
00:07At least six people were reported dead and more than 80 others wounded after powerful Israeli airstrikes hit Sana'a.
00:14According to the Israeli military, more than 10 fighter jets struck multiple targets including a military compound housing the presidential palace, two power plants and a fuel storage facility.
00:26Videos of the strike show multiple blasts occurring with thick plumes of black smoke rising from the city.
00:33Israel's military said the strikes were in retaliation for repeated Houthi attacks.
00:59Most recently, missiles were fired just two days earlier which officials described as carrying multiple submunitions meant to detonate on impact.
01:08An Israeli Air Force official said that this was the first time that this kind of missile had in fact been launched from Yemen.
01:15Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reinforced the message warning the Houthis could continue attacks which would come at a very high cost.
01:23Briefing his cabinet, the Prime Minister said that the Houthi regime would continue to pay for its aggression against Israel.
01:31The Houthi terror regime is learning the hard way that it is paying and will continue to pay a very heavy price for its aggression against the state of Israel.
01:40Whoever attacks us, we attack them.
01:43Whoever plans to attack us, we attack them.
01:45The strikes on Sana'a were the latest in over a year of direct attacks and counterattacks between Israel and the Houthis in Yemen.
01:55Since Israel's war in Gaza began last October, the Iran-line Houthis have regularly launched missiles and drones toward Israel while also targeting commercial shipping in the Red Sea.
02:06In fact, most projectiles have been intercepted, but Israel has responded with airstrikes on Houthi-controlled territory, including on Yemen's vital shipping port.
02:15On Friday, the Houthis claimed they had fired a ballistic missile toward Israel, saying the move was in support of Palestinians in Gaza.
02:23A senior Houthi leader also reinforced that message, quoting,
02:27Sunday's airstrikes marked the latest escalation in more than a year of its tit-for-tat, with both sides trading warnings and attacks.
02:42Israel has made it clear, however, it views the Houthis as part of a terror campaign extending from Yemen into its own territory,
02:48while Houthi leaders say their operations are acts of solidarity with the Palestinians.
02:53So as the war in Gaza continues to escalate, its shadow across the region also gets deeper.
03:00The strikes and counterstrikes showing no sign of easing, and the Middle East continues to remain on edge.
