During a press conference on Tuesday, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson criticized President Trump over his threats to deploy the National Guard into cities across the country.

00:51so that we could fully fund education and provide housing for everyone.

00:57They would rather rip health care away from millions of poor people

01:01than allow their tax breaks to expire.

01:05They would rather send the National Guard to harass homeless people

01:09than just build affordable housing.

01:12They would rather cut SNAP and food assistance from families struggling to get by

01:18than pay a single dollar more in their own taxes.

01:23They don't care about solutions to gun violence or homelessness or immigration.

01:29They just don't want to see it.

01:33They don't want our communities to be safer for all of us.

01:37They just want to play on people's fears and anxieties to seize more power for themselves.

01:50These are individuals who have been corrupted by greed and power.

01:55These are, in fact, some of the greediest individuals in the world.
