During a meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung on Monday at the White House, President Trump was asked how long troops would remain in Washington, DC and when he could deploy troops to Chicago.
Transcript
00:00When will you deploy to Chicago and how long are you keeping troops here in Washington, D.C.?
00:06When you're in a little discussion, I really want to be appreciated.
00:09You know, when we go into a city and wipe out the crime, so D.C., it sounds so horrible.
00:14I'm embarrassed to say it in front of you because they don't have anything like this.
00:19Washington, D.C., sir, has not had a murder in 11 days.
00:24Now, he's saying that's a horrible thing to hear because they don't have murders for...
00:30...ever.
00:31But Washington, D.C., if you go back and check, it's been many years since we went a week without having a murder.
00:39Now we haven't had...
00:40And I would say that Washington, D.C., right now is much safer than Seoul.
00:46You know why?
00:48Because we have a friendly neighbor.
00:49We have more friendly neighbors.
00:51You have a different kind of problem.
00:52We all have different problems.
00:54But Washington, D.C., is a very safe city right now.
00:58You know, people are going out to dinner.
00:59Restaurants are opening.
01:00Restaurants that were going to close are now going to stay open.
01:04Friends of mine are going out to dinner all the time.
01:06They didn't go out to dinner for four years.
01:08It went rampant during the Biden years.
01:11By...
01:12Just rampant.
01:13That's why it...
01:15Susie is very close to the mayor and has a lot of respect for her.
01:18But I view it maybe a little differently because the mayor would say that it's gotten better for 30 years.
01:24It's gotten better.
01:25No, it's gotten worse.
01:26And the worst day of all was when we just got to office for the second time.
01:31And it's in very bad shape.
01:33So the mayor shouldn't be saying that violent crime has been getting better.
01:38It's been getting much worse.
01:40And the day I took office, it was the worst.
01:42And we did some minor things, made it a little bit better.
01:45But then we said, look, we've got to stop it because too many people are getting killed.
01:48And we have not had a murder in 11 days.
01:52It sounds crazy.
01:53I hate to say this in front of this gentleman who I respect because they don't have murders for years.
01:58But we have not had a murder in 11 days.
02:01And that's going to go on for a long time.
02:04And there will be, I guess, it'll happen a little bit.
02:06But we have a very safe city.
02:08This is one of the safest cities right now in the country.
02:11And in a short period of time, it'll be like the border.
02:14Nobody came in through our border for the last 90 days, three months,
02:18we had zero illegal aliens from the Congo, from South America, from all over the world,
02:25from prisons coming in, pouring into our country.
02:28Nobody, not one person, and this is done by a liberal group, a liberal think tank.
02:33They do the work.
02:34Not one person has come into our country.
02:36Think of that.
02:37It's been amazing.
02:38And I didn't have to go back to Congress and ask,
02:41Biden could have done this by himself.
02:42I did.
02:43I said, close the borders.
02:44We had the great Tom Holman.
02:46We had Christy, as you know, Christy Noam, who did a fantastic job.
02:50She's doing a fantastic job.
