Marcos vows to boost PH digital infra amid scams, fraudulent schemes

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Aug. 26, 2025 vows to strengthen the country's digital infrastructure, as the risks brought by technological advancements were "becoming increasingly sophisticated every day." Speaking at the Manila Tech Summit 2025, Marcos said the country should recognize that progress comes with challenges, noting that "any powerful tool cuts both ways." Marcos also warned of the dangers of online gambling and the disruptive potential of artificial intelligence, particularly in job displacement and privacy concerns. To address the problem, Marcos said the government was reskilling and upskilling more Filipinos, training them for jobs in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, e-commerce, and creative industries.
