00:00So, your name's Mikey?
00:02Yes, my name is Mikey Greeney.
00:04And you're an artist here in Wakefield?
00:06I am, yes, yeah.
00:06Mid-media artist, this is my work.
00:08Fabulous.
00:09And what got you started doing your art?
00:11Therapy, essentially.
00:13I've always been super, super creative,
00:15and I love sort of music, songwriting,
00:18photography, videography, and all of those things.
00:20But they became work, and it stopped being fun,
00:24and I still needed some form of a release.
00:26Now, my friend actually inspired this stuff.
00:29My friend was called Bob Brown,
00:30an extremely, extremely talented artist from Wakefield.
00:34He was a Wakefield lad.
00:36Unfortunately, he passed away,
00:37and it really, really hit hard.
00:41And around about eight months ago,
00:43I sort of thought to myself,
00:44I need an outlet.
00:47I need to be creative,
00:48and I need to enjoy what I'm doing.
00:49And I wasn't necessarily enjoying songwriting
00:51and the photos and the video stuff anymore.
00:54So one night, I was looking at all of Bob's originals on my wall,
00:56and I thought to myself,
00:59even though Bob's gone,
01:01I can keep his memory and keep his sort of spirit alive
01:05through being inspired through his work.
01:07So I don't think I stole any ideas,
01:10because I've kind of developed them for myself.
01:12But these things in particular,
01:15the faces and the heads,
01:17are very, very, very heavily influenced by Bob,
01:20because I kind of felt like just because he's gone,
01:24he can sort of live on a little bit
01:26through, you know, the stuff that I create.
01:28And we would always create stuff together.
01:30He would always be painting.
01:31I would always be writing my songs or my poetry or, you know,
01:34but I never really got into this.
01:36And I'm hoping he's sort of looking down
01:40and smiling and happy
01:41that sort of we're keeping his legacy alive.
01:45But a lot of people from Wakefield would know Bob.
01:48So if you're watching this video, guys,
01:49and you know Bob Brown,
01:51love to the man, love to the man.
01:52And hopefully he's looking down
01:54and he's very pleased with what I'm doing.
