00:08just off the coast of japan that's exactly what happened these images show that violent eruption
00:13that experts now say has produced a small landmass near the ogasawara archipelago the eruption began
00:19on october 21st with what volcanologist satsuya nakata told the japan times was a vertical jet
00:25of solidified magma that shot high above sea level the eruption was afterwards kept going by
00:30relatively constant underground volcanic bursts eventually all of that volcanic material landed
00:35back in the water and began to build up resulting in the volcanic island that resides there now they
00:40say the volcanic eruption was still going more than a week later but by november 3rd it was simply
00:45blowing ash into the sky experts say the island is now around a mile wide but the eruption is still
00:50happening though because it's no longer spewing lava it's unlikely to grow much larger at least
00:55at the moment and nakata says that's pretty much par for the course with regards to volcanoes around
00:59japan where a month of eruption is fairly standard japan resides in an area known as the ring of fire
