A Lisburn-based video production company has plans to expand after receiving funding from the government backed business support service Go Succeed.

Speed Motion Films is accelerating its growth ambitions with investment in its in-house studio and drone equipment using money secured through the Go Succeed grant.

It means the business, set up by Damien Gallagher over a decade ago, can increase capacity and the number of projects it is working on over the coming months as demand for its services continues to increase.

The company which produces social media content for brands and businesses as well as television programmes, features, and adverts for broadcasters including the BBC, CBS and ESPN, also makes high-end video productions for clients such as Belfast Harbour, The National Trust and a range of Northern Ireland councils.

“We have invested heavily in our studio over the past two years, so we can now carry out significantly more work in-house, with a space for commercial video and photography shoots, TV interviews and podcasts, having already been used by major broadcasters including BBC and Bloomberg,” Damien said.

“The Go Succeed grant has allowed us to invest in a new drone and enhance our studio, adding new lighting equipment and black out blinds which dramatically improves the space, quality and effectiveness of our work.”

00:00I signed up and applied to get some one-to-one mentorship and I really went from there.
00:07My name is Damien Gallagher, director here at Speedmotion Films. Speedmotion Films is a video
00:15production company specialising in social media content for brands and businesses and we also
00:21work on TV show ads and documentaries as well. I studied graphic design and web design in
00:26University. I went on to do a Masters in Motley Disciplinary Design. From there I was kind
00:30of doing freelance work for businesses with graphics and web design. While the University
00:35applied basketball for University of Ulster-Jordanstown in Irish Super League and all our games were
00:40recorded and so after the games I would edit them down into highlights and upload them to
00:44YouTube and that's where the passion for video really came from. I first came across GoSucceed
00:50from an ad on social media. The one-to-one mentoring really helped with the support of the business
00:54and from GoSucceed. Halfway through the mentorship I was able to then qualify for the GoSucceed grant
01:00which was great because at that time we had just moved into the new studio. So the grant allowed
01:04us to get new lighting equipment, black outlines for the studio and upgrading our drone equipment
01:10and this really helped to kind of push us forward a lot quicker than we had planned and actually start
01:14having film production, video productions here in the studio. As a small business and there's so many
01:19things you have to think about so to have that support from GoSucceed was really great. So the hope for my
01:24business over the next couple years is to continue developing our in-house productions here through
01:29photography, video and podcast setups for our clients and but then also in the future maybe over
01:35the next year or two I would like to kind of host some workshops and master classes for the industry
01:40here in the studio. I would really recommend GoSucceed. The one-to-one mentorship I've received has been
01:45amazing for the business and going forward I'm really looking forward to seeing how that can develop further.
01:54market for the business.
