00:00Yeah, so they ended up having to run a moto that we put live on Peacock on Saturday at Colorado.
00:06It's a great race and put him on Saturday at Ironman and again today.
00:11And they put on a heck of a show.
00:12Goes back to Chet Lawrence.
00:15Did he find a little motivation between motos?
00:19Yeah, I know.
00:19It was a big struggle in moto one without that dangling carrot of a championship.
00:22All he did was go out and win anyway.
00:23Let's not forget, when the riders win races, there's money on the line from their teams.
00:30It's generally around $100-some thousand to win one of these 450 races.
00:34So there is still plenty of motivation.
00:36Watch Jorge Prado here at better gate than he had in moto one where he had the 41st pick.
00:41Only qualified with a provisional.
00:43These top ten points.
00:44See how he goes this time.
00:48And Prado always a good starter trying to work his way to the inside.
00:51Is he going to make it happen?
00:54No, it's Hunter Lawrence.
00:57Hunter's got it.
00:58Nice start by Hunter Lawrence.
01:00And he's trying to still get up in those playoffs.
01:03That second place or third place is going to be hard to do at this moment.
01:07Actually, it's not impossible.
01:08But for him, he's got his younger brother, Jett Lawrence, behind him.
01:12And Hunter had some pace that first moto.
01:14So let's see if he can replicate what he was able to do last weekend and keep Jett behind him.
01:19This time, maybe he can get one of these moto victories.
01:22And Justin Cooper up to third real quick.
01:24The runner-up in moto one.
01:25So the Lawrence is going to slug it out.
01:30It will be another day at the track.
01:32Yeah.
01:33Just like back home at what they call the Dog Pound, their facility down in Florida.
01:37So Hunter, pushing it.
01:40Yeah, we just saw the ladies out there how difficult it was.
01:44So you can see that.
01:45Now, I think Jett's probably going to hang back this moto.
01:48He'll probably have a little bit of fun with Hunter.
01:50As long as there's no pressure as he takes a look back.
01:53I was just going to say, he'll probably look behind him, see who's coming up.
01:57And might just hang out and just ride with an older brother.
02:00Got Justin Cooper to worry about back there.
02:04Then it's Barsha Prado trying to pull that hole shot from mid to outside of the gate.
02:09Hampshire, Malcolm Stewart seventh.
02:12Rogers, another good start.
02:14Eight.
02:14Then Schock and Guillot who are battling for that final berth in the top 20 for the playoffs.
02:20James, give us the KTM keys to the moto.
02:22Well, it's career best day.
02:24And I'm really talking about my brother.
02:26You know, this is one of his better tracks out here.
02:29And the reason he needs that is because the bubble, he has an opportunity to get third in points.
02:33So he needs a sixth to better to have a third overall in that playoff seating.
02:38Malcolm made every race this year.
02:41He's made this one.
02:41Let's see if he can get that top six.
02:43And right now, he's in it.
02:45And then the other bubble battle is, as mentioned, Schock, Guillot, Mitchell Harrison fighting to be top 20 in points.
02:51If you're not, you're 21 through 30.
02:54You got to race the wild card race each weekend in the playoffs to get into the moto and, sorry, the points and money paying motos.
03:04So that's a huge difference.
03:06Schock knows what he needs to do.
03:07Put riders between himself and Guillot.
03:11Hunter Lawrence knows what he needs to do.
03:12He's got to hold off his brother.
03:14Yeah, you know, but I think he's playing with a jaw steam, you know.
03:18Okay.
03:18Done, done, done.
03:19I said I felt like Jett would probably just hang back the way he's been riding.
03:23He's clearly has a lot of pace.
03:25Hunter Lawrence rode good that first moto.
03:27He didn't get the best in the start.
03:28So not surprising to see him leading.
03:30But the A-team just looks really comfortable.
03:33And he's been that way since he got off the truck this morning.
03:35Crowd is going absolutely wild out here early in this moto.
03:38Send it to JT.
03:39Yeah, it's wild down here.
03:41You can hear the air horns in the background.
03:43But yesterday, there's this thing called a media riding session.
03:46And each of the teams do it on certain weekends on Fridays.
03:49But one of the most unique aspects of that is you'll see both Hunter and Jett actually switch motorcycles during that session.
03:56Hunter will get on Jett's bike.
03:58And Jett will get on Hunter's bike.
03:59And they'll go compare settings.
04:01They'll go ride and see, hey, maybe I like a little bit of this.
04:03I like what Hunter has going on.
04:05It's just one of the most unique things I've ever seen.
04:07Now, we haven't seen brothers this competitive.
04:09If James and Malcolm are a little bit too old to have that separation from each other.
04:14But I don't know that we've ever seen anybody switch motorcycles in the middle of a practice session to see what each other have going on.
04:20No, I mean, we definitely have not in competitiveness.
04:24I mean, I mentioned earlier, my brother took me out here for a win.
04:28And my dad, he was clapping for me.
04:30He was cheering for my brother to second moto.
04:32And Malcolm ended up third.
04:33So I know, you know, they're competitive in general.
04:37But it looks pretty comfortable.
04:40That's definitely rare to have those guys switch bikes like that.
04:43And I'm curious to see why they would do that at a race.
04:46Because they have an opportunity to check their settings at home.
04:49They ride together every day.
04:50Yeah.
04:51But it's not on the racetrack.
04:52So two different settings, two different bikes, each get to try.
04:56Hunter has said that he sometimes takes more of the lead as far as testing.
04:59Pretty sensitive to the bike.
05:02Oh, we have a crash, I believe, for Cody Schocker.
05:05We mentioned that battle for top 20.
05:07At the top of the hill.
05:09Let's see what happens.
05:12Oh, the bottom.
05:13At the bottom of the hill.
05:14Oh, Cody.
05:15Oh, you see that bike rebounded.
05:17He wasn't ready for it.
05:18And it caught him off.
05:19He's starting to lean the bike over.
05:21Those bumps right there.
05:22It looks like his bike rebounds.
05:23And that's going to be tough for the playoffs for sure.
05:26That might do it because Guillaume was one of the riders that went by the 992.
05:30He's up to 8.
05:31Schocker quickly got to the motorcycle.
05:33But that might be it.
05:34You look at the SMX points as they run.
05:36There's that bubble battle.
05:38And they're trying.
05:40We mentioned career day in the KTM Keys of the Moto.
05:43If Harrison Schocker and Guillaume had great days,
05:47like all of them in the top 10 in all the motos,
05:49they could potentially leap past Justin Hill.
05:52He's not raced pro motocross, but scored a ton of points in pro motocross.
05:56Check in with Eli Tomac here, who is buried.
06:00He's at 18.
06:02Yeah, I'd be curious.
06:03And he started in 22nd, so hasn't really made his way up.
06:07I think a lot of that has to do with the track.
06:10But also, I'm sure Eli's just ready for these playoffs to start,
06:13get out of this season.
06:14He knows he doesn't have an opportunity to win overall.
06:17That's insane when you think about how he started off this championship
06:21and five-time motocross champion not to be able to get a win.
06:25So he wants a restart.
06:28It's going to be a tough moto for him.
06:30He will be back.
06:31And he was good in his debut in the playoffs last year.
06:35Missed everything with injury in 2023.
06:39As Eli works his way forward, let's send it back to Haley.
06:41You guys have discussed this earlier in the broadcast,
06:44how Eli Tomac has been so frustrated with the fact that he doesn't have an overall win.
06:48And he said, at no point was I willing to accept that I was a P3 podium guy.
06:53Because had I done that, I could settle, I could get lazy, and that's just not me.
06:58No, I completely agree.
07:00And I think there were some moments and times in motos where he was getting discouraged
07:05on not being able to run that pace.
07:07And you saw it, you go back to, you know, a few of those races.
07:11And it seemed like at Washougal when Chase was able to break through
07:13and get that moto win, him being able to hold off Jet.
07:16Ever since then, we saw somewhat of a resurgence of Eli.
07:21But at the end of the day, him not having a shot at his overall,
07:24it's going to be a long moto for number three.
07:27Battling with Lorenzo LaCercio, the rider out of Venezuela right now.
07:31And again, that's 17th.
07:33And as you mentioned at the top of the show, James,
07:35if you're going to pick a track to start at the back,
07:38this would not be at the top of the list.
07:39No, this is definitely not.
07:41And now with they putting the water down and even some of the opportunities
07:44of places where you can pass,
07:47now it has all those ruts down that you've got to tiptoe your way down there.
07:50So it's going to be a long moto for him.
07:53You might have to try to wait for some of these guys to either make a mistake
07:55or get tired, just methodically make his way through.
07:59Meanwhile, Hunter Lawrence continues to hold off Jet.
08:02Then it's Justin Cooper, Barsha, and Hampshire up front.
08:06No change there.
08:08If you look at the overall, the big differentiator
08:12as Tomac looks to make the move on LaCercio.
08:17And he's got it.
08:19And Rogers as well.
08:21Rogers had a good start at Moto1.
08:23The big differentiator up front in the overall
08:25is that Hunter Lawrence was third in Moto1.
08:27Jet does not have to beat him in this moto to win the overall.
08:30But I have a feeling you're going to see
08:31a battle for the moto win between the brothers anyway
08:34as Tomac keeps charging.
08:36Yeah, no, Jet's not going to just let him win this race.
08:38But I don't think as long as Justin Cooper stays a couple seconds behind him,
08:42Jet will be okay with staying here.
08:44You can tell by his rider position, when he wants to, he'll close up.
08:47I think Jet wants to have a little bit of fun here with him.
08:50JT.
08:52Weaves, there's an interesting stat kind of floating around
08:54that's come to light.
08:56And it concerns Hunter Lawrence.
08:57And really, the 22 races he has now competed in,
09:01this would be the completion of 22.
09:03All 21 that he has done so far,
09:05he has finished inside the top five overall.
09:09He is the only rider to have ever done more than 18.
09:11And interestingly enough, that rider that had 18 is his trainer, Johnny O'Mara.
09:16So pretty, pretty fun stuff between the two.
09:19Something Hunter's very proud of, his consistency,
09:21especially early on in his 450 career.
09:23Yep, the first 21 450 motocross races of his career,
09:27he has been in the top five.
09:29And aiming for 22.
09:30That is the record to begin a career in this class.
09:34Yeah, absolutely.
09:36I mean, you go back, he ran into the bus,
09:38saw Chase Sexton, finished second in his rookie debut.
09:41And then now he's got his brother.
09:43Otherwise, we're looking at Hunter Lawrence,
09:46possibly a two-time motocross champion.
09:48You know, he's been riding that good.
09:50Fortunately, it's like he's caught in the era of his younger brother,
09:54Jet Lawrence.
09:55And some of those second places could have been wins.
09:58A shout-out, FMF Privateer Power Award winner,
10:02also brought to you by Rocky Mountain ATVNC.
10:04Those two companies doing a good job with the Privateer Awards this year.
10:08Harry Koulos, a very likable veteran out of Estonia,
10:12who told his story last year when he had his wife going back and forth to Europe
10:17to get his suspension worked on.
10:18Well, then they had a baby over the wintertime.
10:21Wife's actually gone back and forth with baby and suspension at times.
10:25They're living down in the Charlotte area, riding at Club MX.
10:29And he would love to come back to America next year,
10:31so he's hoping for a ride.
10:33Would do some Supercross if that opportunity comes up.
10:37Supposed to ride Supercross this year, actually got hurt.
10:39So he'd love to make a full-time go of it again in 2026.
10:44Yeah, can you imagine some of the conversations that he had with the wife
10:48after a bad race?
10:49He was like, I'm not here with the suspension,
10:52working on this motorcycle, and this baby.
10:54He'd love to see him go out and do that.
10:56Yeah, so you better step it up.
10:57Yeah, you better step it up.
10:58Yeah.
10:58He ain't cooking no dinner tonight.
11:00Putting all the work in.
11:01Yeah.
11:02Oh, I think he said Chet might want to have some fun here,
11:04making a battle.
11:05And I think that's what's about to happen.
11:09Yeah, he's been about a second and a half, two seconds.
11:12Really depends on where Justin Cooper,
11:14Justin Cooper closes the door on, closes up on Jet.
11:17Jetta closed in on Hunter.
11:18But, again, I think Jetta probably help his brother
11:21and maybe keep that pace and see if they can separate it
11:24and then let the brothers have a little brother-on-brother crime
11:26towards the end of this race for that mode of victory.
11:29Yeah, Justin Cooper right there.
11:33Almost identical lap times between the three.
11:36158, slow 158s for all three.
11:38So Justin Cooper not letting them go.
11:41No, and I think Hunter has a good pace.
11:44Jet's a little bit quicker.
11:45I feel like if he wanted to drop that time, he could.
11:48Him and Hunter and Justin are about the same pace.
11:51The fastest guy on the track was RJ Hampshire running back
11:54in fifth place with a 157.
11:57No, no.
11:58Still early in this mode of not even halfway.
12:00A lot of racing left.
12:02It's so hard to gauge it with the Lawrence's,
12:04how much speed they have left in the tank.
12:06For sure, you see Justin Cooper back there rallying
12:09and beginning to close on the 18.
12:13And there's all sorts of motivation.
12:15He has not won one of these races overall.
12:17Hunter did get one earlier in the year.
12:19JT.
12:20Yeah, we're just watching this race unfold here.
12:22It feels like one of those scenarios,
12:24and James, I know you've been in races like this
12:26where they're kind of just letting the laps click off here.
12:29And once someone kind of sounds the alarm,
12:32then they're all going to go into sprint mode.
12:33But as for now,
12:35it seems like they're all pretty comfortable
12:36to run this pace and let the laps click off
12:39and they'll settle it out later.
12:40Now, I think that's why you see RJ
12:41kind of turning the fastest lap behind them
12:44is because they're all kind of saving their energy.
12:46And you're going to see it.
12:47Somebody's going to open this elbow
12:49and then it's going to be on, but not so much yet.
12:51Yeah, no, I agree.
12:52I mean, when you think about Hunter Lawrence
12:54and Justin Cooper,
12:56those two are definitely letting the laps,
12:59you know, click off
13:00because they know the 18 is probably the fastest.
13:03So there's no point of, you know,
13:05trying to let this guy go
13:07and trying to pull away
13:08because you're not going to be able to do that.
13:09Just Jeff, he's just letting it go
13:12and just waiting for his time.
13:13He's saving all his energy
13:14and he'll dictate this race
13:16as a few more laps go by.
13:18Okay, so we watched this 250,
13:21or this 450 battle unfold.
13:23We want to go back to the 250 class
13:25of a developing story here.
13:27So there was a red flag restart,
13:29as you folks might have seen.
13:31Early in 250 Moto 1,
13:33the red flags are flying,
13:34telling the riders to slow down.
13:35Red Cross is out.
13:37You're not supposed to jump the jump.
13:38Joe Shimoda and then that's Hayden Deegan
13:40both jump that uphill jump
13:42while the red cross flag is out.
13:45Here's the official footage of it.
13:47Looks like Tom Vial jumped.
13:49Oh, maybe Vial, Shimoda, and Deegan.
13:52Yep.
13:53So the riders on the outside jumped it.
13:55So that has been under review for a while.
13:57We now have Mike Pelletier from the AMA.
13:59Mike, you with us?
14:00I'm with you guys.
14:01Okay, so is there a ruling on that situation
14:03jumping with a red cross?
14:05There is.
14:05When you jump on a red cross,
14:07it's a five-point penalty,
14:08but if you pass another rider while doing so,
14:10it's also a position penalty as well.
14:13So both Hayden and Joe received a one position
14:16and five championship point penalty.
14:19So does that move the rest of the riders up in the order?
14:21That does, actually.
14:22Cole Davies wins the Moto,
14:23Deegan moves to second,
14:24and Joe moves to third.
14:26Wow.
14:27Okay, I'm glad you clarified.
14:28So we've seen the point penalties before,
14:30but that has always been in the rule book.
14:32If you make a pass,
14:34you will get penalized positions.
14:35It has been, correct.
14:37And no difference over the fact that it was a red flag.
14:39It was for the restart.
14:40It wasn't,
14:41there wasn't a rider down in that situation,
14:43I don't think, right?
14:43That's correct.
14:44Anything that happens prior to a restart
14:46is still assessed at the conclusion of the race.
14:48All right, Mike.
14:49Anything else to add,
14:49or is that pretty much the story?
14:51That's pretty much the story.
14:52Oh, you got something, James?
14:52Yeah, I got a question.
14:53So it's one position.
14:55If you pass a rider, you say?
14:57It is, James.
14:57So if he was to pass two guys while he did that,
15:00it would be a two-position penalty.
15:01So since he passed one each,
15:03both Joe and Deegan,
15:04it's a one-position penalty for each rider.
15:06Yeah, so the last question,
15:08how does Cole Davies win when Hayden won the race?
15:10Right, so the way we issue the penalty,
15:12we start with the sequential order from the bottom up.
15:15So at first we move Davies,
15:17or I'm sorry,
15:17Joe down from third to fourth,
15:20which moves Davies up.
15:21And then we move,
15:22I'm sorry,
15:23up to second.
15:24And then Deegan got penalized as well,
15:26so then Davies moves up into first.
15:27Gotcha, gotcha.
15:28Thanks, Mike.
15:29Thank you, Mike.
15:30Thanks, guys.
15:30Wow, big shake up there.
15:31Good math, James.
15:33Yeah, so Davies actually gained two positions,
15:36because the two riders ahead of him each lost one.
15:38Yeah.
15:39Put that together.
15:39Yeah, no, that makes sense.
15:42Yeah, championship-wise,
15:43it doesn't change anything,
15:44because both of them get penalized,
15:46but Cole Davies only took him three stars, right?
15:49He got a moto win.
15:50Jake Teague.
15:51So let me get this straight.
15:52Cole Davies went from running around 23rd all weekend
15:55to winning a moto in his second race.
15:5723rd to Unidale all day.
15:59All day.
16:00And then now he wins a moto.
16:02We need Clinton Fowler.
16:03That's the next facts.
16:04I can promise you that's never happened before.
16:07I'll have what he's having.
16:08Whatever they did it during the week,
16:09it worked.
16:11Seven days improvement.
16:12Hey, battle right now.
16:14Watching Harrison and Rob Bell.
16:15Rob Bell, one of the local products of the Maryland area.
16:18Fast privateer.
16:19Shock trying to make his way back up after the crash.
16:22And then Harrison,
16:23the reason you're watching Harrison and Shock,
16:25look at the bubble battle.
16:27If Shock can pick up,
16:28Harrison and Guillaume are going to be into the playoffs.
16:31Shock needs seven more points to bounce Hill,
16:34who's not racing today, out.
16:35And time's running out for Shock to do it.
16:40Yeah, he's got about 10 seconds.
16:44Actually, about 14 seconds to Jorge Prada.
16:47So that'd be that seventh position,
16:49seven spots if he needs to be 12th.
16:51Yeah, and I mean, 12th is doable for Shock.
16:54That crash was huge.
16:56He could have gotten there.
16:56They could have pushed Hill out.
16:58Now, what happens is if you don't make top 20,
17:02you have to go to the wild card race.
17:03That's what the Supercross fans know as the LCQ.
17:06And you've got to race your way in every weekend in the playoffs.
17:10If you're in the top 20,
17:11as Harrison of the 86 is right now,
17:13you're automatically in the gates,
17:15automatically scoring points and money every weekend.
17:18Shock's going to have to race for it.
17:20And even if riders in the top 20 aren't able to compete,
17:24for example, Jason Anderson's in the top 20 in points,
17:26he's not going to be back in time.
17:28For the playoffs, they still only guarantee
17:30riders that have earned that top 20 in.
17:33They don't push it to 21st.
17:35They'll just take another rider out of the wild card race.
17:38Harrison doing what he needs to do here.
17:39Halfway mark for this moto.
17:41It's a reminder that Monster Energy is available now.
17:44But Harrison getting it done.
17:45At 17th, Shock's got work to do on the 37th.
17:49Yeah, but he's doing a good job making his way up.
17:51We've got a yellow flag, so I don't know if that's a rider.
17:54Oh, that is.
17:56This guy on the Suzuki, so is that Pat Jarrell?
17:58Yeah.
17:59Yeah, Pat Jarrell's up about two spots in front of the Frenchman
18:02on the Twisted T, Suzuki.
18:03Man, hope he's okay.
18:04Yeah.
18:06But going back to the playoffs scenario,
18:09as Cody does a little scrub.
18:11Let's see what he does.
18:12Make that pass.
18:13Should have the inside if he gets on it.
18:15Look, Cody, we've got playoff spots.
18:16You need to have Pat Jarrell's up.
18:18You've got to move him back.
18:18Yeah, that's good to see.
18:20We went back to Austin Forkner.
18:22So even if Cody, let's say he came out and won the first playoff round.
18:26You think Cody knows points are on the line?
18:28He just sent it over that jump.
18:30Now, be careful.
18:30You can't gain positions while you're off the track.
18:33Yeah, I think J-Bone didn't understand.
18:36He can't get back on the track.
18:37So there's Pat Jarrell.
18:39Yeah.
18:39He allows him back.
18:40But, yeah, as you were saying, even if he wins it,
18:45he would still have to ride those in the LCQ or wild card.
18:50Wild card.
18:50Excuse me.
18:51Every race.
18:52Yes.
18:53And that's just gnarly.
18:53So Tomac trying to catch Kiyo.
18:58That would be for 10th or 9th.
19:00Wow.
19:01Really do you see Eli Tomac having to dig to get top 10.
19:05And Webster is there also.
19:08Webster, the Australian motocross champion.
19:10He's over here riding with the Lawrences and racing in America to get ready for motocross.
19:15And nations as Australia looks to defend its championship in that race.
19:20In October at Ironman, Tomac digging.
19:24Yeah, I don't know if, like, Kiyo got past him or he got past, oh, there he is.
19:29So, yeah, he's already in 9th.
19:32Yes, he is around Kiyo.
19:33So he's 9th.
19:33Yep.
19:34That'll push Kiyo to 10th.
19:37So Tomac, man, this comeback.
19:40We now have the replay of what happened.
19:42Let's send it to JT.
19:43Oh, Eli Tomac making a big mistake there.
19:46But we're just trying to figure out how he started 22nd here.
19:48See him get off the line.
19:49And he goes left right into, who is that?
19:52But Marsha on the left side.
19:54And once that happens, once you have to let off initially, it's basically over.
19:58A gate closes in front of you in the form of elbows by every other rider.
20:02And you are destined for last play.
20:04So unfortunate start there.
20:05But honestly, that was all Eli Tomac getting off balance.
20:08Yeah, tough one.
20:09And normally in some tracks you can sneak around the inside where everybody bottlenecks to the inside.
20:15So he really was just really stuck.
20:18And right before we went back to that replay, you saw that front end dance on him.
20:23Daddy was thinking about diapers after that.
20:25He was like, man, that was tough.
20:27But Malcolm, I said he had to have a career day.
20:30Needed top six to be able to possibly get third in the seating.
20:34Well, that's where he's at right now.
20:36So hang on, brother.
20:39That would be a great accomplishment for him if he's able to do that.
20:43Yeah, third and combined in motocross, supercross points.
20:46And the way that works is that when the playoffs begin, it's as if that seating is one race worth of points.
20:53So Justin Cooper is locked up number one seat.
20:55He'll begin the playoffs at 25.
20:56Second is going to be Gent Lawrence.
20:59He'll begin with 22.
21:01And if Malcolm can hold on for the sixth, he will fall past the idle Cooper Webb.
21:05And Chase Sexton gets a third.
21:07And he'll start the playoffs with 20 points.
21:09Yeah, and we go back to supercross.
21:11Don't forget Malcolm was on the podium, won a race this year.
21:14So the reason why I believe a lot of that, it matters, and especially for Malcolm and Hunter Lawrence,
21:20because these guys, once you get that reset, they'll have this hope.
21:24It's hope.
21:25And they'll start feeling like, man, I can be on the podium.
21:27I need to go out here.
21:28And we know when they have that out here, Malcolm's shown he's able to win a supercross.
21:34Hunter Lawrence, same thing.
21:35He's able to win.
21:36So I think that hope gives him, and it's going to make the playoffs a lot better,
21:40as Malcolm stays at Rodden in sixth.
21:42Yeah, you know, I think it's easy for people to say, look, Deegan and Gent Lawrence have won the
21:46SMX World Championship the last two years.
21:49It makes it look predictable.
21:51But let's not forget, it's a three-race run.
21:55What we haven't seen yet, and it's going to happen one of these years,
21:57is one of the favorites is going to have one bad race out of the three.
22:00And it's going to be almost insurmountable.
22:02There are double and triple points.
22:04But someone's going to put themselves in a huge hole,
22:07and one of these riders that people aren't thinking of are going to be suddenly in position
22:11to maybe pull it off, win the huge money, and the World Championship.
22:15When it's three races, that's a short sample size.
22:18Anything can happen.
22:18Yeah, and a different race format.
22:20So they'll be attacking a different.
22:23And, again, it's the third year, so everybody will be more prepared.
22:26They know what they expect.
22:27I really expect a lot of good racing doing this.
22:31And the reason I say that is because all the athletes and teams, they are training for this now.
22:35So everybody knows how important and how fun this is.
22:38They're all getting better prepared, which means it's going to be better racing.
22:41The more people we feel like that have an opportunity to win, it's going to be better racing.
22:45And Malcolm being up there, we know he's capable of doing the same thing as well.
22:49Well, he's also capable of this track.
22:52Needed a career day.
22:53Here he is running sixth in the moto.
22:55Had that moto podium years ago that you mentioned.
22:57JT talked about it earlier in the show.
22:59What is it about this track do you think works so well for your brother?
23:02Well, I think a lot of it comes down to soil.
23:04You know, he's really comfortable here.
23:07And, again, Malcolm's talented.
23:09And, you know, certain tracks can get away.
23:12If you have bike struggles, you can get away with it at certain tracks.
23:15Like Unadilla is not one of those tracks.
23:17If you've got bike problems, you're going to have a rough day.
23:19Where here you can kind of ride around it.
23:20So if he was struggling on the motorcycle or something like that, he'll be able to ride around it.
23:25And the soil is not one of those tracks where you're losing a front end.
23:28You're nervous.
23:29So I think all that combined, the comfort level allows Malcolm to come out here.
23:34Plus, he has a goal.
23:36He knew probably that top six to get him into that playoff seeding.
23:40So now you're starting to see a combination of all that.
23:45Definitely working out for the rock star Husvarno Ryder.
23:48He's also working out.
23:49Look at this.
23:49Hunter Lourdes has put nearly four seconds into Jett.
23:54Again, the overall would still go to Jett because he'd have a 1-2.
23:58Hunter would be looking at a 3-1.
24:00But Hunter's getting it done in the individual moto right now.
24:03Yeah, Hunter's doing a great job.
24:07I think Jett probably now is getting to the borderline where it's, again, a little too far for comfort.
24:12But who knows?
24:13Jett might have so much more speed.
24:15He hasn't shown that all day.
24:17But we'll tell here he can turn this, close in on Hunter the next couple laps if he really is going to go out to win in his moto.
24:23So he's surprised if he lets his brother win one.
24:26But he doesn't need to overall, maybe he hasn't figured out the map, that Hunter couldn't get third.
24:32Well, it was a fun one last weekend.
24:35Hunter said, I wanted to keep the champagne in the truck.
24:38I didn't want my brother to celebrate the title.
24:39I wanted to beat him at Utadilla and take it down to the finale.
24:42JT.
24:43Yeah, I'm just going to mention kind of what James is alluding to there.
24:45Yeah, it doesn't seem like Jett has a lot of urgency.
24:48And maybe he is really giving it everything he has here.
24:51But remember, with that third in the first moto, Jett can sit right here and still win the overall.
24:56So it will be interesting if it finishes like this to hear his comments about how he played this second moto.
25:03Interesting how this could play out.
25:07And, I mean, Hunter is going to say, nobody gave me anything, man.
25:09I straight up earned it.
25:10He's ridden very, very well.
25:12Bottom box, going to check out Justin Barsha, looking for a top five overall.
25:17That would be the first one of the summer for him and the Rockstar Gascots.
25:20It has been a rough run, had some injuries in Supercross.
25:24When he's going for a podium at the race in New Jersey, huge crash, hurt his knee, got back by Southwood.
25:30The first couple of races were actually pretty good for Barsha, who, again, is in that bottom box.
25:35But then they made some bike changes, and it actually went the other direction.
25:40So they've been working to get it back to where it was.
25:43And he's riding pretty well today.
25:45Might be fifth overall with fifth in the moto.
25:48Yeah, that's how I go back to certain tracks that you can, if you are struggling on a bike, you can ride around it.
25:53And you wouldn't think that by looking at Hunter Lawrence going down that hill, but you can't.
25:56That doesn't look easy at all.
25:58And, yeah, looking at Jed, now he's six seconds.
26:00Even Hunter's looking back, like, all right, I thought you were going to come.
26:05So a little strange to see him drop off that much.
26:08And Hunter, to his point, if he wins his moto, nobody gave it to him, and he was able to run away.
26:14I mean, he put 15 seconds on, 16 seconds on Justin Cooper, so it's not like he's riding a bunch of slouches to earn in this one.
26:23Be a big moto win for him.
26:25The brothers, they have gone one, two, and nine motos this year, but Jed has won eight of the nine.
26:30Hunter did hold him off, rode very well in the first moto at Millville.
26:34And this could be the second time that he's been able to beat Jed straight in one of these.
26:41JT.
26:42Well, we see a rider down here that Hunter's got to avoid.
26:45But this reminds me so much of Spring Creek in the moto where Hunter was able to hold the gap,
26:50then put in some sprint laps and build it, and it was over.
26:53And you see him now.
26:54That's what I would do it in.
26:55Hunter doesn't need me to sell him how to win a race.
26:57If he could put in his best laps right now, I truly think Jed will give it up,
27:01and Hunter will be able to ride the last few laps uncontested.
27:05Yeah, it almost looks like that's happening right now.
27:08You know, he's kind of broken, so we'll find out.
27:11Nearly eight seconds, that gap.
27:12Hey, the SMX Finals in Las Vegas will be bigger and better than ever.
27:17So it should be some venue enhancements as you watch the greatest two-wheel athletes on the planet compete for the ultimate prize.
27:23So this year's event will have free parking included with the ticket purchase.
27:27Along with a complimentary first-come, first-serve, post-event shuttle to take you back to the Las Vegas Strip
27:33and additional entry points for faster entry into the FanFest.
27:38Essentially, after holding the event in Vegas last year for the first time,
27:42learn from that, making some improvements for the World Finals for year two.
27:46Go to SuperMotocross.com for tickets and information.
27:50And it was the brothers battling for the title last year.
27:52They were tied in points, and the tiebreaker went to Jed.
27:56What will happen in 26, 25?
27:58Who knows the next couple years between these two.
28:00Hunter's throwing down.
28:01JT.
28:02Well, in the heartbreak of the day right now for SMX World Championship playoff points,
28:08Mitchell Harrison, that was the rider we saw down just before the finish line.
28:11Hunter Lawrence had to go around.
28:12He is officially done for this moto.
28:14And you can see him hanging his head in his fairies before the finish line right there.
28:18Oh, heartbreak for Harrison, who's been so solid, Supercross and Motocross.
28:23And now the radar is out on Shock, who's up to 15th place.
28:29He's trying to get John Short, Marshall Elton, and Prado.
28:32So, if he can gain three points, he would be tied with Harrison.
28:36Are you kidding me?
28:37A tie, potentially, for the spot.
28:40I actually don't know what the tiebreaker is.
28:42I would presume best finish.
28:44Shock's got a shot at it.
28:46He's had his own problems in this moto with a crash.
28:48And there's the heartbreak for the Michigander, Mitchell Harrison.
28:52Oh, bummer.
28:53He's got to wait around like almost like PGA Tour.
28:56You've got to wait around and see if you slide up into those playoff.
28:59But I'm curious on that tiebreaker because Justin Hill is tied with Harrison.
29:04So, that's right.
29:05One of them would be eliminated.
29:07Again, I would wonder if it's best finish.
29:09I think that might go to Hill dating back to Supercross.
29:12But I'm just making that up, to be honest, what the tiebreaker is.
29:15Hill at a fifth at Arlington.
29:18That's the best finish of any of those three riders, if that is those guys.
29:24Yeah.
29:25Looking at time and score, it looks like RJ has slid up past Justin Cooper in that third spot.
29:30So, a good ride by him.
29:32We do have clarification.
29:33Yes, it is the best finish.
29:34And Hill has a fifth.
29:35That's unmatched.
29:36So, he's going to be tied with Harrison.
29:38Now, they both might make it in unless Shock to make some more moves here at his home track.
29:44Overcoming a crash.
29:45Which one of the three won't be automatically on the gate in the playoffs.
29:52One of them is going to the wild card races and have to race their way in every single week.
29:57Hunter Lawrence.
29:58What a race he has put on.
30:01I think it's over.
30:02Pulled away from Jet.
30:03Not going to win the overall.
30:04Going to go 3-1.
30:06Justin Cooper was the difference maker.
30:09He held Hunter at bay in Moto 1.
30:12And that 3-1 is going to cost Hunter an overall.
30:15Yeah, possibly.
30:16But you've got to wonder if, you know, I know if Jet doesn't really go full throttle on Hunter.
30:22Why do you have to tell the truth all the time?
30:23I'm just saying.
30:24Why do we have to be real about it?
30:25Because I don't know if Jet rides the same way if that overall is on the ground.
30:29I don't want to say.
30:30But maybe it's the motivation.
30:32But I said at the earlier part, Hunter had good pace that first moto.
30:37I mean, he was on the same lap times as Jet.
30:39So maybe it really did come down to a better start.
30:42Maybe Jet didn't have nothing for Hunter.
30:44Who knows?
30:45Who knows?
30:45Because, yes, obviously, Jet at some point had to have known he didn't need to pass Hunter for the overall.
30:51But you want to give Hunter his flowers.
30:53He's riding very well.
30:54He's put big time into everyone now, including Cooper and Jet.
30:58And just look at him ride.
30:59No, I mean, if I want to make sure I clarify that Hunter went out here and did it and doing a great job.
31:08He earns this race if he is able to hold on to it.
31:10And I'm just saying the sense of urgency might have been a little different, but it might not have mattered anyway.
31:15I just saw Hunter looking back.
31:17He was even wondering where his brother was.
31:19So I'm not the only one.
31:21Like, well, maybe things might have changed.
31:23But nonetheless, good to see 96 out here.
31:25It's kind of what we want.
31:27We'll just put it in the we'll never know category.
31:29We'll never know if he had finished second in moto one.
31:32What would have happened in moto two?
31:33Jet did not have to beat him.
31:35But Hunter is definitely on the gas.
31:38And there's only a lap and a half to go.
31:40He's going to get this moto win.
31:42Oh, he hangs on.
31:43Yeah.
31:43He's starting to rough it up a little bit.
31:46But no, Hunter's look really good.
31:48And you go back to Millville, the way he rode that first moto and almost had his brother for that second moto.
31:55And he's been riding really good.
31:57He only had that one weekend.
31:58It was a little off.
31:59That was at Washougal.
32:00Chalked that up to just not really liking the track.
32:02But Hunter's gotten better, just like we've seen some of these other guys, like RJ.
32:07Whoa.
32:09You're just out front.
32:10You're just testing things out.
32:12Let's see if we can double over the top.
32:14Yeah.
32:14And we've said it over and over.
32:18Oh, now we caught Chalk.
32:19Just how underrated Hunter really is.
32:22Far and away second in the championship this year.
32:24And does have a win.
32:25So where is Chalk?
32:27Nah, he's not been able to make up ground.
32:29He's still 15th.
32:31Yeah.
32:31And they're telling him.
32:32Yeah.
32:32I was about to say, he needs to throw down some.
32:36Ooh.
32:37He does need one more.
32:39Yes, because he is.
32:40Nah, he needs more than that.
32:42He's looking ahead.
32:43He's trying to see who he can get.
32:45John Short is the next rider he's going to catch.
32:48This is early in the moto.
32:49Watch Chalk down bottom of this hill.
32:51Yeah, you can see that front end rebound.
32:53He was starting to lean.
32:54He got a little out of control before that in that last bump.
32:57But looking at the battle box on the bottom, he almost goes down.
33:01So.
33:03Oh.
33:03We didn't know that happened when he tried to get back on the track.
33:06That was a shock.
33:07Yeah.
33:09I understand he likes the Yamaha, but he don't need to show off the banners like that.
33:11Then remember, he went off the track again.
33:13And this is just a guy hustling and pushing it.
33:15But that proved costly.
33:17That's probably going to be the difference between on the gate, in the playoffs,
33:21and instead having to race his way in.
33:23Yeah, man.
33:23I didn't realize he was there.
33:25He looked like he was there for a while.
33:27But, yeah, maybe it's Mechanic was just telling him one more
33:29because he didn't want to demoralize him, saying you need three more.
33:32So if you get one more, you just got to.
33:35And you say one more.
33:36Yeah.
33:36And you say one more.
33:36You're like, oh, my map was off, man.
33:38I had lap riders.
33:39So, yeah, it's like the kids.
33:41You're just like, yeah, we'll do that later on, knowing it ain't going to matter.
33:44We didn't do it.
33:45Nothing.
33:45I love it.
33:46One more when you got the bag of candy in front of them.
33:48Yeah.
33:48Just one more.
33:49Okay, maybe one more.
33:50One more for Hunter Lawrence.
33:51It would be a moto win.
33:52Like we said, this would be the 10th time this year in 22 motos
33:58that the Lawrence's have gone 1-2.
34:00And the second time out of those 10 that Hunter has got the win over Jet.
34:04That is nearly half the motos this year that the Lawrence's have gone 1-2.
34:08Unbelievable to even talk about teammates doing that.
34:11Even crazier to say siblings and teammates.
34:14This is special.
34:16You know, they just happen to be brothers, but every day, you got to, almost unfair for
34:22the competition because these guys are going 1-2 in points, coming at the races 1-2, and
34:27then they ride together and push each other every day of the week.
34:31Obviously, you got the bike figured out, stars figured it out.
34:34It's a hard combination that they figured and got to give Lars and HRC a lot of credit
34:38for giving these boys all the tools they need to get it done.
34:43Beginning of the year was not terrible by any means, but they definitely got better on
34:47this new motorcycle.
34:48Really after that break, high point round four that showed up at Southwick.
34:51They have been nearly unbeatable.
34:53Chase Sexton made some noise when he jumped in, but he's back out.
34:57Moto win goes to Hunter Lawrence.
35:00But Chet Lawrence going to end the year the way he did it at the beginning.
35:04Yeah, he's styling.
35:06No, he's Goon Riding.
35:07I was looking out the window, and he did the same thing.
35:10Overall win to Chet Lawrence.
35:13Yeah, that is actually anti-styling.
35:15I guess I should correct myself there.
35:16That is Goon Riding when they start overdoing it.
35:19I haven't seen that.
