00:00And say their name.
00:02Daniel.
00:03Ashley.
00:10This is my son Jabari.
00:12He died of fentanyl poison.
00:15Fentanyl laced marijuana.
00:18May 29, 2020.
00:21Now every day we miss him.
00:23I knew nothing about fentanyl.
00:25We knew nothing about fentanyl until we got that call, you know.
00:29And we have to act fast to prevent this from happening to other parents.
00:37How can one pup kill you?
00:50The valedictorian of his high school.
00:53And he was celebrating his graduation from college, about to go to law school.
00:57And he went to the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut with his friends.
01:00And they went up to bed.
01:02He was still playing blackjack.
01:03He was doing well.
01:05And someone gave him something laced with fentanyl.
01:08And he collapsed 15 minutes later.
01:10Right on the floor in front of everyone.
01:13And he laid there for 11 minutes before EMS showed up.
01:16He didn't breathe for 11 minutes.
01:18And no one knew what to do and no one helped him.
01:21He had 1.6 nanograms of fentanyl.
01:25There was actually, when you looked at the report, there was no cocaine there.
01:29It was only in the digestion.
01:31So it took him quickly.
01:33He was found in his place.
01:37And they took him to Jamaica Hospital.
01:40He was on life support for four days, almost a week.
01:43They had declared him brain dead.
01:45And they told me the only thing I could do, all medical intervention was done.
01:48And we donated his organs.
01:50And he saved three people with his heart, liver, and lungs.
01:53At that time, I thought I was like the only person that this was happening to.
01:58And obviously, this has become an epidemic and a crisis.
02:02They did declare fentanyl as a weapon of mass destruction.
02:05And hopefully, just by spreading awareness and trying to save other lives.
02:10And we all advocate together.
02:12We've become, all of us parents here, as a big family.
02:15Like, they're our family.
