00:00Jonathan, I can hear everything that you are saying to me
00:05and with regards to the October 7th attack and Hamas.
00:10And a lot of people think that things might have become
00:15a little bit disproportionate at the moment
00:17and the international tide is turning against Israel.
00:21The October 7th attack was absolutely horrendous
00:25and the whole world condemned it.
00:27But we're now seeing 62,000 people dead inside of Gaza
00:33and a famine being declared.
00:37Do you not think that the world needs to speak out?
00:40And really, has President Trump done enough?
00:43Because in the past, he said occupying Gaza
00:45is pretty much up to Benjamin Netanyahu.
00:48And he's also said Netanyahu was a war hero.
00:52So right now, you know, what's the answer?
00:55And is the U.S. doing enough or are they giving carte blanche to Israel?
01:00Really, this is an issue that affects the neighbourhood first and foremost.
01:05So what needs to happen, Leanne, is truly the death toll
01:08and the suffering that's happening in Gaza,
01:11which is, you know, we don't know even where the truth lies in that.
01:15The numbers are astounding in terms of children dying and women
01:18and innocents of those 62,000 people you talk about.
01:24Certainly a large number are Hamas and Islamic Jihad.
01:28But we don't know because the Ministry of Health is run by Hamas
01:32and they, you know, they're the ones delivering the figures
01:36and they do not differentiate between civilians and militants.
01:41They just don't.
01:41So it's very questionable what is the case and not disputing that whatsoever
01:48is that the situation in Gaza is absolutely unacceptable
01:52and there needs to be relief coming in and we need to resolve this crisis.
01:57Now, the Arab League the other day asked Hamas to put down their arms
02:03and allow a political settlement of the situation and to release the hostages.
02:09If the hostages had been released months and months ago,
02:13actually well over, you know, well over a year ago,
02:16we wouldn't be where we are.
02:17This would not be happening.
02:19And the problem is that we're stuck in a situation in which Benjamin Netanyahu
02:24and his coalition, which is very fragile, has a couple of figures in it
02:30who are really ultra-nationalists and difficult
02:33and holding him accountable to not cave in.
02:39And it's a political quagmire.
02:41In a situation like this, a lot of power is in the hands of the Egyptians,
02:46the Qataris and other Arab countries, the UAE included,
02:51of trying to figure out a way to intervene in a way in which the Arab street
02:56doesn't perceive this as capitulating to Israeli wants and wishes,
03:02but really wants and wishes of the Palestinian people
03:05who do not deserve leadership of what Hamas represents.
03:09They are not responsible.
03:12What they've done is essentially subjected the Palestinian people.
