00:00No, back to Stanford for a minute.
00:02Okay.
00:03They were so bad in the ACC last year.
00:06Was that like exposure just to a better conference, do you think?
00:09Or just, I mean, look, they overturned everything.
00:12So, you know, it's obvious that it was deeper than that.
00:14Yeah.
00:15Here's what's happened to Stanford.
00:17And, you know, David Shaw had, you know, Harbaugh kind of started the ball rolling.
00:22David Shaw had the great run.
00:23They were national title contenders for a long time.
00:25Um, Stanford's, uh, administration academically and athletically, uh, was really slow to react to the new game of college athletics.
00:38And that is transfer portal and NIL.
00:41So transfer portal to Stanford was not taking in season transfer portal guys that hurt them.
00:48Um, grad transfers, that's, you know, was the, you know, the ultimate currency in college sports.
00:55Cause you got a guy who's played for four years and can step in and really play.
00:59You had to actually get into a Stanford graduate program.
01:03It's not like Carson Beck, who's been in college seven years and doesn't have a degree.
01:08Stanford, Stanford was really adamant about if you're going to come and be a grad student here, you got to get into our business school, law school or whatever.
01:17So, you know, that didn't work.
01:19They've been three and nine for four straight years.
01:22And that's why they hired Andrew Luck, who retired early from the NFL.
01:27Brilliant mind.
01:29Uh, my analyst, Logan Ryan, uh, on Saturday, former, uh, two-time Superbowl champ with the Patriots, just talked about playing against Luck and how brilliant he was.
01:38And, and, um, and Frank Reich is a, is a really sharp offensive mind, Philly special, uh, ring a bell, uh, and a head coach in the NFL.
01:48So that's why they brought Andrew Luck on to be, uh, the face of the franchise.
01:55And also, uh, part of him coming on was relaxing the, um, transfer portal standards for Stanford, uh, increasing the NIL, making it easier for them to bring players in.
02:08Cause they, for a while, all they could do was lose players and not gain players.
02:12And that's why they were been three and nine the last four years.
02:15And I think last year was probably the tipping point for the administration, the alums, president, all of that.
02:22It's like, look, we used to be really good at football.
02:24We need to change the way we do things.
02:26And so that's the, that's the deal.
02:27And it's, it's really, uh, you know, just listening to, to Luck talk and, and we'll meet with the Stanford coaches tomorrow.
02:33I'm really fascinated to hear, um, their vision for what this is going to be.
