00:00I thank the general lady.
00:04Well, I want to start my closing comments by just thanking the witnesses.
00:07All four of you bring tremendous experience and just a foundation in science when it comes to looking at the products,
00:21say chemical products that our farmers need.
00:25And these are products that impact not just crops.
00:29I know we were pretty well focused on crop protection,
00:33but I heard mentions to the new screw worm, a new world screw worm,
00:39and probably some other impacts on livestock as well.
00:44So this really is a hearing that applies to not just crops, but also livestock.
00:50And I want to thank our staff both sides of the aisle for doing such a great job
00:54of helping prepare us for what I thought was a very fruitful hearing here as we enter into our bipartisan work
01:04on what I've been affectionately calling Farm Bill 2.0.
01:09You know, American agriculture is, can be defined clearly as science, technology, and innovation.
01:16We have a record of that.
01:19It is undeniable.
01:21There are fewer applications of this definition than what I view of the crop and the livestock protection products that are out there.
01:31And just an example, and I give credit to Senator, to Secretary Kennedy, who was responsible for the FDA within the past week.
01:41Their approval of a, of a medication basically for, in the poultry industry,
01:48to address the northern fowl mite, which has an impact on the health of, of the birds,
01:55and also decreases egg production.
01:59And we all remember the, the, the egg crisis here that we experienced earlier.
02:05And so that, that is a, an FDA approval that came out within the past, well, probably five days ago,
02:12under the leadership of the FDA, which is under the jurisdiction of Secretary Kennedy.
02:19And much appreciation for that.
02:21And probably the most recent, um, example of achieving, using science, technology, and innovation to provide agriculture solutions.
02:30The, um, the development of, uh, all critical agriculture products for food security is, quite frankly, is, is, is well grounded in science.
02:41Uh, we, we, we must assure the scientific review of these products that have to be completed with, with efficacy and efficiency,
02:51uh, to assure effective, uh, effectiveness in farmer tools to deal with environmental challenges,
02:59whether they be pests, diseases, or, or weather.
03:03Um, American agriculture is, um, really is the envy of the world because we have embraced science, technology, and, and innovation.
03:12And we cannot allow bureaucracy to delay or block that commitment to, to progress.
03:19So, under the rules of the committee, the record of today's hearing will remain open for 10 calendar days
03:25to receive additional material and supplementary written responses from the witnesses to any question posed by a member.
03:33This hearing of the, of the committee on agriculture is adjourned.
