00:01And we got across to more breaking news coming in.
00:03Union Home Minister Amit Shah who's lauded the criminal Neta's bill.
00:06In fact, he's gone on to say the former Delhi Chief Minister was running his government from jail.
00:11Amit Shah has said that there was no need for a bill like this had Kei Jiwal resigned on moral and ethical grounds.
00:17He's also added that this bill and all of that comes under its ambit applies very much to the ruling party
00:25and the opposition must maintain morality.
00:28The bill will be applicable to BJP Chief Ministers and the Prime Minister as well.
00:33Listen in to that statement.
00:58Cutting across to my colleague Piyush, who now joins us live on the broadcast.
01:24Piyush, well, Union Home Minister Amit Shah making his point very clear that this is totally and totally about corruption
01:29and any Neta who is corrupt must face the consequences.
01:33But that may not settle the opposition who continues to make claims otherwise.
01:39Well, there was a lot of ruckus in the parliament when this bill was tabled.
01:42We also saw as to how the opposition MPs had it overpowered the bill.
01:48But Homeless Amit Shah, who is in Kerala, and he was speaking the very day next to the Ponsor session also getting signed.
01:58He was highlighting as to how this bill is very important.
02:01He was asking, can a sitting chief minister who is behind the bars and is facing the corruption allegations from the government.
02:09And he is also talking about the prime minister.
02:12He is talking about the ministers.
02:13So that's the question which the BJP has been raising.
02:16And Home Minister Amit Shah, who at the table, this bill in both Lok Sabha and Raj Sabha, is also asking the same question.
02:22Remember that, you know, opposition has been opposing this.
02:25They are saying that this is anti-constitutional.
02:27But Amit Shah is asking that how can opposition say that a chief minister who is facing corruption allegations around the government.
02:35This entire bill was also tabled in both the houses of Swesha.
02:40Because there was no legal framework to remove a chief minister or minister or prime minister who is facing corruption charges
02:47or is behind the bars for around 30 days in an offense which has the conviction of around 5 years.
02:55And that's why the government has come up because it is trying to send out a message that it is against the corruption.
03:03And that's why this bill was also tabled.
03:05But what is important to highlight is that despite government having numbers in both the houses,
03:10it would require two-thirds majority to get these bills passed.
03:14But for that, the government would need the opposition support.
03:17And that's why this bill has also been sent to a joint parliamentary committee.
03:21And we can expect the JPC to also submit its report by the next session of parliament.
03:27All right, we wish we continue to track every development very closely for the moment.
03:30Thank you for joining us.
