Heavy rain is finally beginning to ease in New South Wales with all major flood alerts downgraded. Some warnings remain in place.

00:00It's been a nervous wait for locals here in Gunnedah over the last few days of rain,
00:06with the Bureau of Meteorology initially forecasting a major flood for the Namoy River behind me.
00:12That forecast has since been revised, and moderate flooding is expected overnight and into tomorrow.
00:17However, residents are still being advised to pay attention to conditions and the Hazards Near Me app

00:26It's been less than three weeks since this region experienced a major flood,
00:30and the repeated events are taking a toll on the community and volunteers.
00:34The State Emergency Service says it has responded to more than 900 incidents during this event.
00:39Further afield, a final flood watch has been issued for parts of the Mid-North Coast, Hunter, Hawkesbury, Nepean, and Kolo regions.
