Sometimes it’s not the person you’re holding on to —
it’s the hope they would become who you needed.
The version of them that only existed in your imagination.
Letting go is not just about walking away…
It’s about grieving the story you never got to finish.

This video is for anyone who’s still missing the person who broke them.

00:00Why do you think you're still holding on to someone who caused you so much pain?
00:04Because for a while, they were the only thing that didn't feel empty.
00:09Even the pain made me feel connected to something.
00:12I know they hurt me. I know I deserved better.
00:15But letting go of them felt like letting go of the version of me that still believed I could be loved.
00:20Sometimes we don't grieve the person.
00:22We grieve the story we were trying to write with them.
00:25The almost, the hope, the imagined ending.
00:28And part of me still wants them to come back and finally be the person they never were.
00:34Even if they come back, Anna, would they be coming back for the real you?
00:38Or for the version of you who kept shrinking to make it work?
00:41So how do I let go?
00:42You remind yourself, love should never feel like survival.
00:46And missing someone doesn't mean they were meant to stay.
