00:00Rise in support of ACA 8. This is a rap position that our country and our
00:05democracy is in these days. Leaders in this sea and across the country have
00:10time and time again proven that they are willing to bend, stretch, and outright
00:15break the law if it means they are gaining more power. They are unashamedly
00:20trying to change the rules in the middle of the game, undermine our institutions
00:25and chess flat cheat because they know that is what it will take for them to
00:30have a chance to win. I urge you to support this measure to give our
00:35constituents and our state a chance to fight with even odds. If at halftime one
00:41team decides they're going to play the second half with 15 players instead of
00:4511, we can't disagree and cry foul all we want. But if we play the second half by
00:52the same old rules with 11 players, we put our team and the people we're playing
00:57for at a huge disadvantage. And for what? Pride? Principle? No members. There is far
01:07too much at stake. They have made that painfully clear. Obviously all of us on
01:13this floor would rather not be spending our time on this issue. There is certainly
01:18no shortage of pressing issues our constituents need us to address. But
01:23the unfortunate reality is that this precedent has manufactured this issue. And I
01:30would argue that there is no issue more pressing than ensuring Californians get
01:34the opportunity to play by the same rules as the rest of the country. Even if we
01:40don't like what those rules are. Members, I urge you I vote on ACA. Thank you.
