00:00Hey everybody, just got done doing an oversight visit of one of the ICE field offices here where immigrants check in and some of them are being detained.
00:07They get detained there and then sent to a different facility.
00:10And I'm just checking in to talk about one specific thing.
00:14Because when they opened the door and said, you know, who are you, yada, yada, yada, said I'm Congressman Frost.
00:20I was with Congressman Aaron Soto as well.
00:22Then they went to close the door.
00:23I put my foot in the door.
00:24And I put my foot in the door for one simple reason.
00:26Every single week we have seen videos from across the country of members of Congress being pushed, being denied entry when the door fully closed, being tear gassed, being yelled at, mistreated by ICE agents at a lot of these different offices.
00:45And so if there weren't these videos, maybe my energy would be a little different coming in.
00:50But these videos exist and we see it happening.
00:52And we have to assert ourselves fully on first contact to say, we are members of Congress.
00:57We're here to do a job.
00:58We're here to do a lawful and legal job of oversight on behalf of our constituents.
01:03Okay.
01:04So we get in.
01:05I promise you, if I didn't put my foot in that door, we would not have gotten in.
01:08When that door closes, oftentimes it never opens.
01:10We get in.
01:11We go through.
01:12We have a conversation with the head agent there who is very disrespectful to me.
01:17Asked me how old I was.
01:19Can you fucking believe that?
01:20Asked me how old I was.
01:21And then he starts saying stuff like, well, look, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter.
01:27You're a congressman.
01:28We're all friends.
01:28We're all human.
01:29No, no, no.
01:30And I told him, no, no, no, we're not friends.
01:33And it does matter.
01:34I'm a congressman.
01:34I'm here to do my job.
01:36I'm here to do work.
01:37I'm not here to hang out.
01:38I'm not here to chill out.
01:39I'm here to do oversight as a member of the House Oversight Committee.
01:43And I bring this up because I just want everyone to know, you know, a lot of these agents are emboldened by the Trump administration right now.
01:48To talk to me and to really talk to anybody that way.
01:51The energy that you bring, you have to set that right away, right at the beginning.
